Chicago (CBS) - Sometimes household chores require reinforcements, like the junk removal crews you're about to meet. Spring cleaning projects are booking up the schedule, but as CBS 2's Lauren Victory explained, there's another serious reason that's keeping the company busy. (Snip) "I'm trying to figure out what the future holds, not only for my business, but other business owners as well," Broches said. Before the pandemic, about 30% of customers were leaving the Land of Lincoln, but now, it's up to more than half. "It's sad but it's the reality of what's happening," Smaltz said.

Well, one other bit of good news in the article. Sounds like, at the present rate, Illinois will lose at least one more congressional seat in the 2030 Census.

90% of my stuff remained behind when I left New York. Had no place for it and much of it was easier to replace rather than transport. Factored that into the sale of my house. Some of it was valuable and probably could be sold. Other stuff was junk with a one-way ticket to the junkyard. No regrets. Have liberal family that won't even visit me in Florida because they hate DeSantis. Not my problem. If most liberals are like that, they are content to reside in liberal wastelands.

It's not sad, it's a wise move. Illinois people have been suffering through decades of corrupt government that does nothing but spend money, pile up debt and harbor crooked labor unions. Who wants to pay higher taxes to support incompetent and criminal politicians? Folks are fleeing New York and Commiefornia for the same reasons.

So sad for me! I was born in IL and lived there for 50 years. Raised my Family there. It was a good place to live! We moved away in 1995, but my children decided to stay and are still there. There is no convincing them that there are much better places to live because they are now Democrats and we all know you can't talk to Democrats!! So, I go back once a year to visit Family, and we just do NOT bring up Politics. I hate what has happened to my State, but after moving to Michigan, then Tennessee and finally retiring in Florida, we are so thankful we didn't stay! We were only in Michigan for 3 years before being transferred to TN, so we didn't really mind the Democrat state too much, but when we got to TN we thought had died and gone to Heaven. A Beautiful State and practically Free to live there! After 4 years there, we moved to Central FL to retire in a Golf Community. Nowhere better, in this time of our lives, to be! Shame on IL for trashing that once Great State!

Mitchell and his associates wanted to ensure that they could keep winning city-favored contracts and subcontracts for minorities, (Snip) Instead of righting historical wrongs, the policy has enriched a small subset of already-wealthy businesses, bred corruption and fraud, deepened racial divisions, and cost taxpayers countless billions of dollars

Noonan argues that electing Donald Trump again would destroy the Republican party. Peggy may be right, and I hope that she is. Trump’s success in 2016 was, in large part, due to the way that he took the mechanisms of the Republican political machine and used them to secure victory. He ran a third-party-style campaign within the structure of the Republican party. The “party” as a corporate entity was against him, but grassroots Republicans in name and philosophy were all in for candidate Donald Trump.
