Ron DeSantis’ entry into the 2024 race for the White House offers a fighting chance for America to dodge a Donald Trump versus Joe Biden rematch that almost nobody (except Trump and Biden) craves: According to most polls, this punch-drunk nation just wants to move on. (Snip) He’s controlled state spending, taxes and regulation to nurture the economy, and even reformed Florida’s once-insane liability laws.
And he delivered big-time on other issues.
His 2022 Parental Rights in Education Act handed power back to families by preventing schools from hiding woke brainwashing and social transitions

As governor, Ron has the luxury of a legislature that is not confrontational (or worse). While his initiatives are highly commendable, and his successes many, this dream team of governing is not found on the federal level. The Deep State would do to him whatever is needed to hobble any good he would attempt.
The idea of his being the clean, new model is fantasy.

The Post should focus the article on those who put us into this 'punch-drunk stupor': that would be the Communist Dems and corrupt government officials (including judiciary) at the Federal, State, and Local (as in Alivn Bragg) levels. Trump has been the specific target of all this corruption and is still standing. None of us can begin to comprehend what he has endured. Trump is everything we all say we want to see from a Republican, but oh no....mean tweets so we must run to DeSantis? Not now, please.

So NY Post - you think that if Gov DeSantis does get elected President in 2024 - the Left will stop destroying this country and we can all go back to back slapping each other? He has had the luxury of a R controlled state legislature. Trump had to deal with then Speaker Raul Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell - not exactly friends of We The People.
I have said this before - you wait, if the Left perceives DeSantis as a real threat then they will drag out some female former sailor aka get her to lie - about how a young LT DeSantis sexually assaulted her at some drunken Navy SEAL soiree.

RDS has little experience fighting against the organized commiefascist federal government so far. They will use him until he is no longer useful and then bring out the hammer and tongs. Trump is already hardened by that process. It's time to fire the fundamental transformers and rebuild liberty.

Yes, let's let the left pick our candidates for us! Trump is too Trump so let's start all over with desantis!
Brilliant, if you like changing the topic every time the argument gets to the real issues.
The real issue is The Establishment's corruption of our institutions for their personal gain and to implement their personal ideologies. And The Establishment may have been bought by the Chinese government.
DeSantis is the latest weapon to weaken the Trump MAGA agenda. Let's don't start all over again with a new guy who may prefer cooperation with the bad guys to confronting them. DeSantis doesn't have the armor.

Trump is favored bby many here on this site - but then, we are here on this site to read a spectrum of mostly political information. We read, see around us, and can apply the info we've absorbed. Now - thing about the average persons you work and interact with. Do they read multiple articles from a variety of sources? Or do they get 20 minutes of newsportsweather man-bites-dog stories on the car radio or an hour of msnbc after dinner? Or the younger generations who get news headline streams on their phone? The greater population has little to no idea about the machinations that go on in plain sight, and a good deal of them believe the nightly reports dutifully relaying Joe's message that all is well. We've lost already but are the still-alive mouse that the cat just toys with.

Seriously, I don't care. Yes, it would have been nice if it was on TV so it was easier to catch and not worry about the glitches. But it means nothing. Never voted for anyone because of their announcement. Biden had a prefab cut and paste campaign which was a pile of manure. I want to see Trump and Desantis hash out their likes and differences. I am open minded to both candidates. The others are just also rans. Let it play out. The enemy is Biden/dems and all their nonsense.

Trump is too old and too divisive to be President.
Can he handle losing the nomination? Or would he go third party? Not work toward the election of a Republican if it's not him?

I am tired of the hit job on Ron DeSantis and I am tired of the hit job on Donald Trump. With that said, I am also tired of what America has to go through every presidential election. Now the immaturity is spilling over into the primaries. Grow up. If you aspire to be president, then be presidential.

I always have to laugh when someone who doesn’t know a thing about me or my community presumes to speak for me. While I am more than “punch-drunk” over Biden, I am nothing of the kind with regard to President Trump. This is just more DeSantis astroturf. And, #14, if Trump goes third party, he will still have my vote. When all the wrong people hate and persecute someone, it speaks volumes to me.

A good and thoughtful article. loyalty and gratitude to Trump ought not be blind. The winds have shifted since 2016 and 2020, and we need to honestly assess our options with the future in mind. If only one 76 year old man who is widely disliked (however unfairly) stands between us and national dissolution, then we might as well pack it in right now.
And # 3 - you're right. The N.Y. Post is history. Founded by Alexander Hamilton way back in the day.

Trump - and the rest of us here - were screwed, no question about it. We'd all like to see the Revenge of The Donald. But there is a real element of Trump fatigue out there. How extensive it is will become evident in the primaries.
And what have Romney, McCain and the Bushes to do with Ron DeSantis? "Well, Sundance said so" is no real answer.

We all know the White House, DoJ and our intelligence services acted to change the outcome of the 2016 election. Then acted to hobble a sitting President for four years.
None of those people will ever be brought to justice. Though what they did is sedition.
The ONLY measure of justice obtainable is that Trump gets the four years he earned. If you think it is "time to move on", then you are conceding the field to them. You are letting them win. And acknowledging that they, not you, determine who is acceptable to vote for.
So go ahead. Support DeSantis. I hear the Bush family, and Governor Kemp like him.

Here's DeSantis in all his glory:
" Ron DeSantis indicated he might pardon former President Donald Trump or
January 6 rioters – vowing to review convictions ..."
He vows to review.
He might do right
-- if it not too inconvenient to whatever else he's planning.
I've already had it with that ego-maniac; he has no idea what all all those people singing his praises now have in store for him.

He is an extremely popular governor of what has become a solidly conservative Republican state. He has an attractive wife and children. The state legislature is solidly in the hands of the Republicans, so he gets whatever he wants passed with no real opposition. He comes off as strong and a powerful conservative leader. Even the state media generally likes him.
Of course, that is a description of George W. Bush back when he decided to run for the presidency. However, when he got to Washington DC, he quickly discovered that the Demon-Rats were going to oppose and stop everything he tried to do by any means necessary -- often with RINO Republi-Can'ts joining them to help keep him "in his place". Definitely, the MSM attacked him 24/7/365 for their Demon-Rat overlords.
While I give him credit for his leadership to 9-11, the rest of his presidency was pretty bad, and he showed what a "milk toast" excuse for a leader he truly was.
Sadly, I fear that DeSantis will have an equally "milk toast" run if he somehow manages to win the Republican nomination and wins the presidency. But don't forget, even GW Bush won every race in Texas easily. DeSantis probably wouldn't have won his first governor's race in Florida if it weren't for Trump stepping in and publicly supporting him.
I do believe that DeSantis is a more solid conservative than GW Bush was. But I don't think he will have the cajónes that Trump has to deal with the disaster that Senile Joe bidet and the Demon-Rats have done to this country over the last 4 years. It's sad his ego overwhelmed his common sense, and he didn't wait until 2028 to run. Political suicide!!!

Love both President Donald Trump and Governor Ron deSantis. Would be ecstatic if either of them were elected. Am not fond of the hit attack ads PT is running against de. Such as the silly one about a national sales tax. Everyone familiar with the issue knows that the National Sales tax was to completely replace the IRS. Instead of taxing income, tax what people buy. Am ambivalent about it. But I hate filling our IRS forms, the goons who work for the IRS and the people who bribe politicians to make the tax forms incomprehensible. If I am alive I will vote for whoever, whomever, or whatever is the nominee of the GOP.

To the Ever Trump crowd who are likening DeSantis to GW Bush, please do not forget that during the entire tenure of GW Bush as president, which is not ancient history, your man Trump was a solid democrat. To the Ever Trumpers who like to call everyone not named Trump a RINO, why are so many of you now proudly proclaiming that if Trump fails to secure the GOP nomination, you'd follow Trump to a third party? That mindset appears to be a sure sign of one big RINO and millions of RINO followers/worshipers.
