In a win for the Justice Department, a federal judge on Friday blocked a May 24 deposition of former President Donald Trump in connection with a pair lawsuits filed by former FBI officials Peter Strzok and Lisa Page.
The order from U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson was in response to a Justice Department motion filed on Thursday urging her to reconsider an earlier ruling that said that Trump and FBI Director Christopher Wray could be deposed in the lawsuits, without specifying the order of depositions. Government attorneys argued that Wray's deposition, which has not been scheduled, could make Trump's unnecessary.

When Audrey Hale shot her way into Nashville’s Covenant School on March 27 and murdered three adults and three nine-year-old children, attention immediately focused on her “manifesto” as possibly having the answer to the anguished “why?” question.Hale was clearly a seriously troubled young woman who had previously attended the school. She was also undergoing gender transition drug treatments, a fact that made the contents of her manifesto even more intensely of public interest. Such treatments are typically associated with a psychological condition known as “gender dysphoria.”

WASHINGTON— A showdown with Congress that has the nation’s creditworthiness at stake; a frenzied scene at the border as pandemic restrictions ease; a pivotal foreign trip meant to sustain support for Ukraine and contain a more assertive China in the Indo-Pacific.
Three weeks since launching his reelection campaign, President Joe Biden is confronting a sweeping set of problems in his day job that defy easy solutions and are not entirely within his control.

A Californian state senator has urged black residents of his state to be 'realistic' about reparations, a week after the task force - set up to look into the issue - approved its final proposals.
The task force has not announced how much they think should be given to eligible residents.
Economists studying the issue have argued the state is responsible for more than $500 billion, due to decades of over-policing, mass incarceration and redlining that kept black families from receiving loans and living in certain neighborhoods.

The good news is that not every teacher in the schools across the nation is an agendized leftist culture warrior. Some teachers actually practice virtues like dignity, values, and common sense, and embrace ideas such as free speech and critical thought. The bad news is that such teachers seem to be much fewer in number than their guerrilla counterparts and face uphill battles in their efforts to reintroduce sanity to the classroom. Caedran Sullivan, a 15-year veteran English teacher at Shawnee Mission High School in Overland Park, Kan., is one such teacher. And she is paying the price.

The editors of Jeff Bezos’ Washington Post are claiming the White House has gotten southern migration under control, with a wide front-page headline saying “At the border, a reset but no surge.”
The May 13, editor-placed, five-column headline hides the reality of President Joe Biden’s surge of 83,000 migrants in one week — and it also distracts readers from Biden’s radical decision to ignore Congress while his deputies extract millions of consumers, renters, and workers from poor foreign countries for resettlement in Americans’ neighborhoods, schools, and workplaces.
The headline also distracts from the unpopularity of Biden’s radical policy:

American Presidents come in two flavors. The first category includes Presidents whose overall approval rating exceeds the approval ratings for individual aspects such as handling the economy and immigration. In other words, they are more popular overall than in specific areas. The second category comprises Presidents whose approval ratings for specific aspects are higher than their overall approval rating. In this case, they may be more successful in particular areas but do not enjoy the same level of overall support. President Biden belongs to the first category; his overall approval does not reflect the underlying weaknesses. CORRECTION*

In the final hours before Title 42 goes away, everything surrounding the waves of illegal migrants has grown increasingly surreal.
New video footage shows stunningly long lines of migrants freely — but illegally — making their way from Mexico into Texas, even as Team Biden keeps calling the border “secure.” Many migrants are never caught.
But for those who are, or who voluntarily turn themselves in after crossing illegally, Customs and Border Protection is supposed to issue notices to appear to be “removed.”
Few ever show up.
Those who do so get hearings where they may legally be released, even though they’re still technically illegal immigrants.

As migrants surge into the United States from Mexico in the wake of Title 42 ending, it is not only our border towns and major cities being swamped – but also President Joe Biden’s legacy and prospects for re-election.
How ironic, really, that it took a Trump-era policy, one of the last in place, to keep any semblance of order.

Donald Trump’s CNN town hall on Wednesday night was viewed as a gift from the political gods inside Biden world.

That conviction has only been fortified by the last two years, in which major legislative strides and a better-than-expected midterm came in the face of routine skepticism.

Louisiana – Kenner police this week revealed a racial motive in the killing of a 66-year-old handyman.
Two black male suspects, Tahj Matthews, 23 and Maurice Holmes, 25, admitted to their role in killing Lawrence Herr while he was repairing a mailbox last month.
One of the suspects told police he “just wanted to kill a white guy.”
Matthews and Holmes were both charged with first-degree murder in connection with the fatal drive-by shooting on April 10.
According to reports, the suspects gunned down Lawrence Herr while he was repairing a mailbox on Kenner’s Georgetown Place.
Both suspects are being held in the Jefferson Parish Correction Center, according to WVUE.
