Justice Department secures court order

In a win for the Justice Department, a federal judge on Friday blocked a May 24 deposition of former President Donald Trump in connection with a pair lawsuits filed by former FBI officials Peter Strzok and Lisa Page. The order from U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson was in response to a Justice Department motion filed on Thursday urging her to reconsider an earlier ruling that said that Trump and FBI Director Christopher Wray could be deposed in the lawsuits, without specifying the order of depositions. Government attorneys argued that Wray's deposition, which has not been scheduled, could make Trump's unnecessary.

A top Republican accused the White House of "intimidating" players with knowledge of the Biden family's overseas business dealings. House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) urged the "FBI work with us" as his panel struggles to get more information out of those individuals who know about the family's dealings with Chinese energy conglomerate CEFC, eastern Europe, and more. "Nine of the 10 people that we've identified that have very good knowledge with respect to the Bidens — they're one of three things: they're either currently in court, they're currently in jail, or they're currently missing," Comer told Fox News's Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo.

Chicago got a lot more than it bargained for when the people voted for “sanctuary city” policies. It’s the best idea anyone has come up with yet. Let the sanctuary cities become the new border towns! Let the blowhards who say it’s inhumane to turn people away absorb them! You can have all the facts on your side and still lose an argument. How? Because the other side is not bound by facts, they’re arguing emotion, and emotion always overrides facts. It sounds stupid, it is stupid, but it’s also true. Think about the things you’ve apologized for in your life – I’d give you odds it was for things you said in the heat of the moment, not after thinking about the situation in a cool, rational way. That emotion factor is a big part of why Republicans always seem to get rolled when it comes to policy debates, but it’s not the only reason.
