Sen. Dianne Feinstein, the 89-year-old California Democrat who on Wednesday arrived in the Capitol after a near-three-month absence due to illness, reportedly confused one black man with another. Feinstein in 2021 approached Sen. Tim Scott, a Republican who has represented South Carolina in the Senate since 2013, "stuck out her hand, and told him she had been rooting for him and was so happy to have him serving with her in the Senate," according to a new book that Politico excerpted on Thursday. Scott and his staffers knew that "Feinstein had mistaken the South Carolinian for Raphael Warnock, the newly elected Democratic senator from Georgia," and "played along."

They all look alike. Seriously, though, it is significantly more difficult for members of one race to identify by face members of another racial group. This is a scientifically proven fact. I had a modest number of black colleagues for decades at work. A few were difficult for me to tell apart at times. The biggest problem was a couple of young black women, who were most quickly identified by their hair styles by me, since their faces seemed very similar. Voices also easily distinguish them. On more than one occasion I have been embarrassed when a colleague who I got along with very well (nice young lady) had radically changed her hair style and I didn't say "Hi" as we passed in the hall. She called out to me, and, embarrassed, I had to admit that with the sudden hair style change, I hadn't recognized her in passing. These were not people that I worked with often, more like once in three months or so. Still - interracial identification solely by face is not easy. All that said - I have always despised this fanatically anti-gun witch.

The Zombies could have been singing about DiFi when they recorded "She's Not There." She's been mentally if not physically gone for the last two Senate terms, at least. And yes, she's one of the worst hoplophobes in the Senate. Wants to disarm the population. Loves criminals--especially Democrat criminals--and hates guns. There's quite a difference between Scott and Warnock. Quite a difference. Please don't bother trying to find her. She's not there.

What #4 said. It is very difficult to tell members of a different group apart unless you know them very well. For me it is beards. One guy with a beard looks pretty much like every other guy with a beard. The way to beat that is to have a unique characteristic, like always wearing a big belt buckle or hat. Give people something to notice besides the obvious characteristic.

There's an old story that Dave Robinson, the Hall-of-Fame defensive lineman for Lombardi's Green Bay Packers tells about black players in those early days in Green Bay. Now, Green Bay in the late 50s and early 60s were as white as rice, with a few Indians tossed in. There were, at the time, 9 black players on the Packers. One of the other black players comes up to Dave and says, well, the folks here in Green Bay seem to be polite to me, but one thing bothers me. They keep calling me Dave and my name isn't Dave. Robinson says, listen, there are 9 of us and two of us are named Dave. They figure that if they call us Dave, they have a better chance of being correct."

The Justice Department did not deny the existence of a record alleging a criminal scheme involving then-Vice President Joe Biden, the House Oversight Committee confirmed to Breitbart News Wednesday. On May 3, House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) subpoenaed the FBI for records alleging the criminal scheme. The document, an FBI-generated FD-1023 form, allegedly details an arrangement involving an exchange of money for policy decisions between now-President Biden and a foreign national. Comer issued the subpoena following legally protected disclosures by a whistleblower to Sen. Chuck Grassley’s (R-IA) office

A recent Washington Post headline labels the month-long torrent of attacks among left-of-center media and Senate Democrats "The polite struggle to do something—anything—about Clarence Thomas." The claim, now ubiquitous on the Left, is that the Supreme Court Justice has been bought by billionaire businessman Harlan Crow and has filed false federal financial disclosure forms to cover up the fact. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) and Rep. Hank Johnson (D-Ga.) have called for a Justice Department investigation of Justice Thomas. The only place these lies may be considered "polite," however, is the all-white beach and sailing clubs frequented by the Whitehouses.

Joe Biden has announced he will seek reelection as president. This comes as he is experiencing the lowest approval ratings of his presidency — 37 percent, according to Gallup. Former President Donald Trump or Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis will almost certainly be the GOP nominee. The blunt reality, however, is that regardless of who the GOP puts up against Biden, they will lose if the party isn’t prepared to get down in the mud and beat the Democratic National Committee (DNC) at their own dirty game: ballot harvesting. The 2020 election left conservatives shellshocked. How could Trump lose to a supposedly senile candidate who spoke to tiny, lackluster crowds?

Overheated rhetoric is not a new feature of the American news landscape. In the 19th century, newspapers were openly partisan and sometimes directly tied to a particular political party. And just as the “big three” era of alleged unbiased reporting gave way to more aggressive matchups on ideological cable news networks, so too the fallout from the split between primetime viewership leader Tucker Carlson and Fox News might be a glimpse of what the news business might look like in its next evolution. As Carlson himself said in his single video comment since parting ways with Fox, the problem with much of what passes for debate

The decade-long French Revolution that broke out in 1789 soon devolved into far more than removing the monarchy, as it became antithetical to the earlier American precedent. American notions of liberty and freedom were seen as far too narrow, given the state, if only all-powerful and all-wise, could mandate “equality” and force “fraternity” among its subjects. Each cycle of French revolutionary fervor soon became more radicalized and cannibalistic—until it reached its logical ends of violent absurdity. Originally, the idea of curbing the power of a Bourbon king through a parliamentary republic became lethally counter-revolutionary.

When House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) subpoenaed the FBI for documentation that may link President Biden to a bribery scheme perpetrated when he was Vice President, the White House response was oddly overwrought: “For going on 5 years now, Republicans in Congress have been lobbing unfounded politically-motivated attacks against @POTUS without offering evidence for their claims.” This was a very strange charge to make concerning a mere subpoena for documents supporting the disclosures of a whistleblower.

You know, the side with the actual exit.

When I was exiting the country in 1987 after investigating its collapsing economy, I made sure to bribe every guard who searched my luggage at the Bucharest airport with a pack of Kent cigarettes.
