The Impending Thermidor Reaction in Jacobin America

Original Article

The decade-long French Revolution that broke out in 1789 soon devolved into far more than removing the monarchy, as it became antithetical to the earlier American precedent. American notions of liberty and freedom were seen as far too narrow, given the state, if only all-powerful and all-wise, could mandate “equality” and force “fraternity” among its subjects. Each cycle of French revolutionary fervor soon became more radicalized and cannibalistic—until it reached its logical ends of violent absurdity. Originally, the idea of curbing the power of a Bourbon king through a parliamentary republic became lethally counter-revolutionary.

I am not an admirer of the French, but I do give them credit for demonstrating that there was a time when they knew how to deal with bad leadership.

Much as I would like to I cannot envision much focused or sustained pushback against all of this. A vague sense that something is wrong in the country is not the stuff of a potent counterattack. And when the campaign season begins in earnest - look out! The avalanche of demagoguery, race baiting, pandering and flat out lies unleashed by the Dems and their media partners will be overwhelming.

It would not be difficult to find a Robespierre wannabe in the modern Democrat party. Some in that party have spoken darkly of imprisonment or even worse for woke dissenters. This is not new. Outspoken Democrats cheered the idea of Justice Thomas' death shortly after he was confirmed and, more recently, accepted the suspect deaths of Seth Rich and Jeffrey Epstein as a robbery gone wrong and suicide. Democrats now control the FBI, CIA and other alphabet law enforcement agencies of the federal government. They are not run by Berias or Himmlers, yet, but stay tuned.

FTA: "A counterrevolution is building, not just because people are angry at what has become of their country, but because they now are learning that if they do nothing, they will have no country—and soon." VDH has gone down this road multiple times but always stops short of describing this building counterrevolution. Revolutions capable of ousting an increasingly entrenched communist ideology, always become kinetic but, with a few exceptions (e.g., Art Schlichter), no one ever wants to openly discuss what that might look like to an average American citizen who still loves this country as founded.

The Democrat Plan to Pump and Dump Trump 9 replies

It’s clear that the Democrats and their corporate media partners believe President Biden’s best chance of remaining in the White House after 2024 is to assure that his Republican opponent in the general election is former President Trump. To that end, they have launched the political equivalent of the old “pump and dump” investment scam in which fraudsters disseminate false information to artificially drive up the price of a stock and suddenly sell off their own shares when its “value” peaks.

The Republican National Committee (RNC) is gearing up for next year’s presidential race with the launch of a new department dedicated solely to election integrity. The new internal infrastructure will bring on year-round staff operating new technology designed to facilitate recruitment and litigation, according to a 35-page report shared exclusively with The Federalist. “The RNC built a historic election integrity program in 2022: we put 80,000 volunteers on the ground, secured key legal victories, and learned how we can grow even stronger in the future,” RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel told The Federalist.

The Justice Department did not deny the existence of a record alleging a criminal scheme involving then-Vice President Joe Biden, the House Oversight Committee confirmed to Breitbart News Wednesday. On May 3, House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) subpoenaed the FBI for records alleging the criminal scheme. The document, an FBI-generated FD-1023 form, allegedly details an arrangement involving an exchange of money for policy decisions between now-President Biden and a foreign national. Comer issued the subpoena following legally protected disclosures by a whistleblower to Sen. Chuck Grassley’s (R-IA) office

Sen. Dianne Feinstein, the 89-year-old California Democrat who on Wednesday arrived in the Capitol after a near-three-month absence due to illness, reportedly confused one black man with another. Feinstein in 2021 approached Sen. Tim Scott, a Republican who has represented South Carolina in the Senate since 2013, "stuck out her hand, and told him she had been rooting for him and was so happy to have him serving with her in the Senate," according to a new book that Politico excerpted on Thursday. Scott and his staffers knew that "Feinstein had mistaken the South Carolinian for Raphael Warnock, the newly elected Democratic senator from Georgia," and "played along."

A recent Washington Post headline labels the month-long torrent of attacks among left-of-center media and Senate Democrats "The polite struggle to do something—anything—about Clarence Thomas." The claim, now ubiquitous on the Left, is that the Supreme Court Justice has been bought by billionaire businessman Harlan Crow and has filed false federal financial disclosure forms to cover up the fact. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) and Rep. Hank Johnson (D-Ga.) have called for a Justice Department investigation of Justice Thomas. The only place these lies may be considered "polite," however, is the all-white beach and sailing clubs frequented by the Whitehouses.

Joe Biden has announced he will seek reelection as president. This comes as he is experiencing the lowest approval ratings of his presidency — 37 percent, according to Gallup. Former President Donald Trump or Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis will almost certainly be the GOP nominee. The blunt reality, however, is that regardless of who the GOP puts up against Biden, they will lose if the party isn’t prepared to get down in the mud and beat the Democratic National Committee (DNC) at their own dirty game: ballot harvesting. The 2020 election left conservatives shellshocked. How could Trump lose to a supposedly senile candidate who spoke to tiny, lackluster crowds?

Overheated rhetoric is not a new feature of the American news landscape. In the 19th century, newspapers were openly partisan and sometimes directly tied to a particular political party. And just as the “big three” era of alleged unbiased reporting gave way to more aggressive matchups on ideological cable news networks, so too the fallout from the split between primetime viewership leader Tucker Carlson and Fox News might be a glimpse of what the news business might look like in its next evolution. As Carlson himself said in his single video comment since parting ways with Fox, the problem with much of what passes for debate

When House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) subpoenaed the FBI for documentation that may link President Biden to a bribery scheme perpetrated when he was Vice President, the White House response was oddly overwrought: “For going on 5 years now, Republicans in Congress have been lobbing unfounded politically-motivated attacks against @POTUS without offering evidence for their claims.” This was a very strange charge to make concerning a mere subpoena for documents supporting the disclosures of a whistleblower.

When we’re talking about Presidentish Joe Biden’s increasing senility, it’s difficult to choose the worst, most embarrassing moment of his time in office.Imagine trying to top this first selection from September of last year, when Biden got lost exiting the stage at a Global Fund event — yet he’s done just that on several occasions. From the clip, it’s impossible to tell whether the announcer was supposed to address Biden at the end, or if he was just trying to get the alleged president’s attention and lure him to the correct side of the stage. You know, the side with the actual exit.

The Democrats have left the goal wide open. Almost anyone could defeat President Joe Biden, whose physical and mental decline can no longer be hidden from the public. Almost anyone.Yet, with a kind of hideous slow-motion inevitability, the Republicans seem determined to pick the one candidate that we know Biden can beat. We can say that definitively, for it is a matter of observed fact rather than conjecture. It is agonizing for friends of the United States to watch the two parties, in the grip of their weird internal dynamics, plumping for candidates whom they know in their souls to be unsuitable.

Telling people what they want to hear is a political skill that most politicians possess. You can have all the facts on your side and still lose an argument. How? Because the other side is not bound by facts, they’re arguing emotion, and emotion always overrides facts. It sounds stupid, it is stupid, but it’s also true. Think about the things you’ve apologized for in your life – I’d give you odds it was for things you said in the heat of the moment, not after thinking about the situation in a cool, rational way. That emotion factor is a big part of why Republicans always seem to get rolled when it comes to policy debates, but it’s not the only reason.

The border is “secure” and Joe Biden has built the strongest economy in years. Just ignore the fact that inflation is costing us hundreds more dollars a month under Joe.This is why his approval rating is in the toilet.
