Dems starting to do the debt ceiling squirm

This is kind of fun. Maybe Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy is crazy like a fox, no? If he can’t wear you out, he’ll wait you out. A couple of days ago I posted about how McCarthy had gotten the framework for a debt ceiling bill banged out with his fractious bunch of coconuts. In a speech given at the New York Stock Exchange, the Speaker put forth the meat of the GOP proposals, said they would have a bill to vote on “in weeks,” and, again, asked the president to please meet in good faith negotiations. The answer was the classic Democrat MAGA MAGA MAGA boilerplate

If the country actually goes into default, it'll be Joey's fault. Period.

First off, it isn't Biden saying no to face to face talks, it's his puppeteers. He could never make a decision on his own, even before the failing cognizance. Secondly, he cannot be seen or recorded doing so as it would be obvious to even the looniest of leftists just how far his decline has progressed. And third, I believe, the plan is to default on the dept and spin the blame on Republicans.

Crashing the system is their goal. Then, like a Phoenix, in comes digital currency (Fedcoin).

The Democrats proposed and passed spending they didn't have the means to pay for. It was irresponsible to say you want to spend X, but you didn't have the taxes, or the debt ceiling, to cover those expenditures. Republicans don't need to say anything more than what's above, as it will resonate with the public.

Georgia’s Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is urging local law enforcement to prepare for possible indictments this summer in her 2020 election inquiry focused on former President Donald Trump and his allies. In a letter dated Monday to Fulton Sheriff Patrick Labat, the prosecutor said she will be “announcing charging decisions” resulting from her investigation during the Fulton County Superior Court’s fourth term of court, which spans July 11 and September 1. Willis spoke of the need for “heightened security and preparedness” as “open-sourced “intelligence indicated an announcement “may provoke a significant public reaction.”

Tucker Carlson’s ouster from Fox News was officially decided in a Friday night conversation between Fox Corporation CEO Lachlan Murdoch and Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott, Mediaite has learned. The cable news network announced that it was parting ways with the host of 8 p.m. show Tucker Carlson Tonight and that his last appearance on Fox was Friday. Fox’s statement shared no reasoning for why the network’s top-rated host was abruptly fired, prompting many to speculate about why Carlson was shown the door. A source familiar with the decision told Mediate that Murdoch and Scott discussed Carlson’s fate on Friday evening after  CORRECTION*

The Biden administration is quietly preparing for the possibility that if Ukraine’s spring counteroffensive falls short of expectations, critics at home and allies abroad will argue that America has come up short, too. Ukraine’s ever-imminent counteroffensive will attempt to retake Russian-seized territory most likely in the east and south, though for operational reasons no senior officials from Kyiv have detailed specifics. Publicly, President Joe Biden’s team has offered unwavering support for Ukraine, pledging to load it up with weapons and economic aid for “as long as it takes.” But, if the impending fighting season yields limited gains, administration officials have expressed privately they fear being faced with a two-headed monster

Everybody is up in arms about Tucker Carlson’s and Fox News’ split. Lots of rumors regarding why it happened are floating around, and as with all breaking news stories you should wait for a bit before you trust anything anybody says. “Inside sources” or outright speculations are unreliable. Was it Dominion? Was it Tucker wanting to defend himself? Was it something else? I don’t know and only a small circle of people so far do. And even they will probably have diverging views. What interests me is how Tucker is a very different kind of media voice and one who can’t easily fit at any cable news station.

In a statement, Mr. Biden praised Rice's tenure, highlighting her pivotal role in advancing his agenda.

Diplomats and their families were successfully removed from Sudan and the capital city of Khartoum. California Gov. Gavin Newsom has directed the National Guard and California Highway Patrol to help combat San Francisco's fentanyl trafficking crisis. On Friday, Newsom announced an effort to have both agencies assist local authorities to address the rise in fentanyl use. The agreement will focus on "dismantling fentanyl trafficking and disrupting the supply of the deadly drug in the city by holding the operators of large-scale drug trafficking operations accountable," the Democratic governor's office said. "Two truths can co-exist at the same time: San Francisco’s violent crime rate is below comparably sized cities like Jacksonville [Florida] and Fort Worth [Texas] — and there is also more we must do

Adams was joined on the panel by Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass (D), Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner (D), and outgoing Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot (D). The Biden administration is reportedly finalizing a proposal that would force fossil fuel-fired power plants to substantially curb emissions or utilize costly carbon capture technology. The proposal — which will soon be released by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) — is expected to require coal- and natural gas-fired power plants to cut or capture the vast majority of their carbon dioxide emissions by 2040, The New York Times reported on Saturday, citing officials briefed on a draft of the plan. The regulation, if finalized, would represent the first-ever federal action curbing power plant emissions. "EPA cannot comment because the proposals are currently under interagency review,"

Old Joe Biden’s ghostwriters issued a statement Thursday to congratulate Muslims on Eid al-Fitr, the feast marking the end of the fasting-by-day-and-gorging-by-night month of Ramadan. Predictably, it was anodyne and obsequious in the extreme, with Biden celebrating how Muslims “decorate their homes, give gifts to loved ones, wear new clothes, and visit family and friends.” The faux president is made to add: “I am moved by the generosity that is shown from families that can provide food and give charity to those in need through Zakat-al-Fitr.” In the course of all this flattery, Biden’s writer drops in a serious note: there is now a U.S. government task force
