Another three endorsements for President Trump today from the Florida congressional delegation, bringing the total so far to ten with more anticipated. Meanwhile, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is in Washington DC seeking support. DeSantis is warmly greeted, but President Trump gets the endorsements. What’s going on?
Republican Congressman Greg Steube gives an explanation below about the Ron DeSantis Floridians know, but nationally most do not.
DeSantis is an out-of-touch aloof persona, who generally projects himself as better than others.
If DeSantis gets the nomination, I vote for him. If Trump gets the nomination, I vote for him.

This is media manipulation by the right and the left. The leftist media badly want Trump to win the nomination because they think Biden will beat him again. With enough voter fraud he will. DeSantis has been a solid conservative in Florida and without a little ‘arrogance’ he would not have accomplished what he has. Do conservatives still want us to be meek? Not a good enough reason for me turn against either one of them.

If I may, some misc points:
1) on one hand, “aloofness” in someone is not indicative of their competence, (think bedside manner in a brain surgeon. If he’s brilliantly skilled, I don’t care if he’s polite.)
But aloofness in a politician, to me, indicates a potential to make policy decisions based on largess rather than constituent needs and concerns.
2) is the act of governing as a conservative, an act? What is the CORE value of DeSantis?
3) he APPEARS to be projecting as a more robust Bush 43, when in fact, he holds the same core beliefs and donor friends as 43.
No thanks. You can talk about mean tweets, but PDJT is the real deal.

You can blame Trump, the dems, the media - it doesn't matter. Nor does the rationale for any criticism mean anything. DeSantis is going to come out of this lower on the political ladder and that's unfortunate for everyone. We can only hope that there is a well-guarded agreement between the two camps to play this along with a plan to join forces at the optimal time in the campaign. But this is Sundance, after all - Trump perfect, DeSantis very bad.

I Iike DeSantis. When his time comes, I will support him and vote for him. This is not his time and I am pleased as anything to see a governor like DeSantis making Florida great and Blue states look insane.
President Trump and this country were absolutely screwed so we cannot allow the media (does Jake Tapper still trust John Brennan?) and the deep state to defeat us again.

DeSantis needs to step back and say flat pout that he will only run if Trump does not.
Otherwise he is hurting himself.

I’m with everything said above. Some of the comments in the article- saying Desantis doesn’t want people who make less than $50k a year- sound over the top.
Still DeSantis needs to toil in the vineyard some more and get more vetted by the public. Let’s hope he’s good because if Trump wins in 2024 we’ll need someone good to follow.

I adore Donald J. Trump. I adore, Ron DeSantis. Trump performed brilliantly as President of the United States. I don't need to list his accomplishments here despite a coup d'etat against him, lies, and brutal, disgusting treatment at the hands of the media and rhino republicans. Ron DeSantis has performed brilliantly as Governor of Florida. His first act as governor was to right the election system in Florida. Thank God. He took on Disney and I suspect will win that fight. But, he was brilliant in the face of the tragic hurricane that destroyed many parts of his state this passed summer. He and his administration got bridges built in record time, put communities back on track in record time and all without drama.
BUT, I believe our country is in extremis right now and only a force of nature can bring back our Republic. There is only one force of nature at this point in this 2024 presidential race and that is Donald J. Trump. Ron DeSantis's time will come. And when it does I will vote very happily for him.

Speculating that democrats want Trump to run in order to cheat Biden into office again seems not based in reality. With the recent torrent of information about the Biden clan, and assuming his natural lifespan reaches the next election, he will be fortunate if not looking out vacantly from between the equivalent of iron bars.

Please read this article and pay attention to a tweet by @saltdog. It will make your blood boil. It disparages the working class in an unbelievably arrogant and condescending manner.
It also draws a clear difference in the mindset between Trump and DeSantis. Trump understand and respects the work that the average working person in this country does. He knows what they bring to the table and is not ashamed to give them the credit and respect they deserve. Most politicians view the working class “less than” when, in fact, most of them are very intelligent, understand the economics of family finances and small businesses, have mad skills that the elites in the country do not, and have an abundance of common sense. Trump understands the value of individuals like this. And that is why the MAGA movement is strong and loyal. From a genuine respect for the working class, President Trump has built a connection that very few, if any, politician has ever cared to cultivate. Trump is a people person and sees value in the guy or gal who works with their hands as much as he sees worth in the head of banks or corporations and that is a rarity.
DeSantis comes off looking like your average politician. His treatment of Rep. Steube and is especially revealing of his lack of character and abundance of elitism.

DeSantis is trying too hard…
Trump is just his natural self, which America recognizes and appreciates.

Agree with #6. When time comes I will vote for DeSantis. But his time is not now - in 2024. I have already expressed my hope on another thread. DeSantis should (a) successfully complete his term.(b) Come out and campaign for Trump in '24. (c) Join his cabinet in '26 and show his executive skills. (d) Rub in '28 with Don Jr. as running mate. - so there will be a Trump on the ticket.

Have I missed something? Has DeSantis announced he's running for president? As far as I know, DeSantis hasn't announced he's running. The media apparently has announced that DeSantis is running, but not DeSantis himself. I still think the odds of the Republican ticket being Trump/DeSantis is pretty good.

DeSantis is my governor and I love him. He is everything a conservative could want in a public official. Could we just leave it at that, please, and knock off all the baloney about wanting to havie a beer with him? Why some people regard this Sundance character as some sort of Svengali is beyond me.
That said, I truly hope Governor Ron chooses not to run this time around. He's got plenty of good work left to do here in Florida and Trump deserves a return bout. (And frankly, I don't believe that any GOPer can win in '24. The 2022 election results convinced me of that, I earnestly hope to be proven wrong).
