Ron DeSantis is making his first swing through the early primary state of South Carolina on Wednesday as he continues to lose the endorsement battle with former President Donald Trump.
The Florida governor, who has not yet announced a presidential run despite every indication he intends to do so, will speak in North Charleston, Summerville and Spartanburg about his Florida Blueprint.
Visits by popular politicians to South Carolina, along with Iowa and New Hampshire, are indicative they are weighing a presidential run.

Wisdom suggests that it isn't DeSantis time. Supporting Trump this time around will bring him support in five years when it will be his time, perhaps. Since he hasn't thrown his hat in the ring he can't be accused of backing down, just deciding it is not the right time for him.

Influential state legislators need to lean on those legislators in "relucatant" states ( I'm looking at you, Robin Vos) to make it clear that the Trump agenda, with or without Trump, not the wait them out so we can stay in charge republican agenda, is what matters. Top down, Washington driven state legislators who refuse to push for electoral reforms that guarantee legitimate state elections ( largely to bar Trump and other conservative populists from taking and maintaining control) need to be identified, vilified and embarrassed, if not by their own, then by other law makers in other states who don't lack for integrity.

DeSantis only diminishes himself in this tilt at windmills.

What do Floridians think about their governor seeking higher office? Did Lindsey tell him to come to SC? Oops, what does Tim Scott think about Lindsey's visit to his home turf? Turf he won't win. Snicker. . .

If DeSantis actually runs against Trump in this election, his political career is probably over outside of Florida. Trump just has too many supporters that will see DeSantis as a backstabber if he goes against Trump.
DeSantis needs to swallow his pride, become Trump's biggest cheerleader in 2024, and help Trump win!!! Then, in 2028, DeSantis will have proven himself a great "team player" for the Republicans. He will be the odds-on Republican candidate, and will have the huge support of Trump's voters and contributors -- and more importantly of Trump himself in 2028!!!!
I truly believe that DeSantis is young and smart enough to know that patience is your best quality to be a successful candidate. I just hope that he realizes that.

I really feel for DeSantis. He's done a GREAT job in Florida. I think attacks on him by Trump are unworthy.
I support Trump, but I have some trepidation of him running, again. He has not been a good judge of character, politically.

It is tiresome reading about the Trump- DeSantis feuding. Not necessary.

Frankly, we need a candidate who can win by a LOT instead of yet another down-to-the-recount squeaker. I think Trump governed as a great Republican president but I'm so tired of his personality. Right now it looks like he'll get the nomination and then either lose or maybe pull a win out of his butt. Can't we do better?
DeSantis needs to declare already. He can't really look for endorsements if he's not in it, right? And if he'd enter the race finally then he could start actually taking on Trump as an opponent.

The three "Rs"...Rove...Ryan...and Romney cannot push sanctimonious on WE the people...WE've had 30 years of the establishment running our country into the ground....President Truck is our champion...he's done it before and he knows how to set the record straight...and how to put Putin and XI in their place....I'm scrutinizing the voting in my area so that my vote will not be stolen or overlooked by the counters....and Dominion is being watched very carefully so they cannot change the final totals....AND best of all...my darling husband who passed 10 years ago will NOT be voting in Chicago's cook county group...it took me four years...but I finally succeeded in pulling his name off the democrat's voting list....
