According to NBC News, team members for Ron DeSantis have reached out to six different Florida Republicans in an attempt to prevent them from endorsing President Trump in the GOP primary. This comes after a flurry of prominent Florida congress members have thrown their support behind the former President.
In the past 6 weeks, Trump has scored endorsements from Matt Gaetz, Anna Paulina Luna, Cory Mills and Byron Donalds. However, insiders have said that the Donalds endorsement specifically was the straw that broke the camels back, and now it appears that DeSantis staffers are trying to prevent a domino effect.

DeSantis might could win the election but he hasn't a snowball's chance of winning the nomination. There aren't THAT many independents and soccer moms.

FTA: "Longtime GOP pollster Ryan Tyson has been at the forefront of this effort"
What's a pollster doing involving himself like this? Perhaps DeSantis should give him a call and ask him to stop. Or at least tell him his services are no long in needed.

If this is an indication of political insights, he's a lightweight.

This tells me DeSantis knows he doesn't have a chance next year. As VP or candidate in 2028 maybe. But not next year. Stick to your governorship Ron. You gave your voters the impression you would not be resigning.

DeSantis hasn’t declared his candidacy. So, if this is true, it looks either sneaky as all get out, or it looks like the rumors are true that he’s working with Deep State Trump haters Rove, et al., to thwart a Trump nomination.
Either way, as those who point out every perceived Trump flaw are wont to say, “it isn’t a good look.”
That’s getting into weasel territory in my book.
I hope it isn’t true. Because, if it is, he has dropped way down, from 2nd to Trump in ‘24 & 1st in ‘28, on the preferred candidate list of this female Independent Republican voter.

DeSantis has to be smarter than this or he is indeed throwing in with the Rinos. To absolutely chuck any chance of the bright political future he has worked so hard for is an action of a man who is allowing a cabal of anti-Trumpers to decide his fate. It tells me he is not worthy of trust.
The never Trumpers are betting on malicious prosecutions to take out Trump and they intend to put DeSantis in the catbird seat. Unfortunately for them, they are playing their hand so everyone can see what they are doing. I honestly believed DeSantis was smarter than this, but clearly he is not. The lure of money and political power is an aphrodisiac to many and the GOPe are more than happy to use whatever means necessary to get their way. The fact that they ignore Trump’s unparalleled accomplishments and willingness to fight like no President ever has to put this country first tells me DeSantis’s supporters are protecting the status quo. However, they are too ridden with hatred of Trump and blinded by their own arrogance to understand that democrats have destroyed the status quo. Now, it is the democrat way or the highway because they have destroyed the American political, process. O If they believe getting rid of Trump will put things back the way they were, they are in for a big surprise. It will only embolden them to the seize complete control. Like democrat supporters these anti-Trumpers believe Trump is the problem when, in fact, he is the solution to American freedoms and prosperity. He proved that while in office.
It is dreadful to watch such a rising political star be hijacked by these Republican charlatans. This tells me Ron DeSantis is not ready for prime time if he can’t figure out their game. If these miscreants manage to sideline Trump I will have a hard time voting for DeSantis because I just don’t trust him. He bit the hand that fed him and then threw away a chance to become the guy who would carry on a winning America First agenda. This tells me he is DeSantis first. Shame, he could have skated into victory in 2028.
This has to be one of the most wrong headed decisions in the history of American politics. Not only is he wrong. He is using the same old money, old strategies, consultants, and GOPe traitors that put us where we are today. Pity, his ego got the best of him.

I've voted for DeSantis twice, but this is a horrible decision. He'll get tons of glowing remarks from the media for this action. However, if he should receive the nomination (extremely doubtful) the media will do an ankle-snapping reversal and attack him 24/7 just like they have done to Trump. He can't see that?
