Supreme Court denies West Virginia's request

Washington - The Supreme Court on Thursday denied West Virginia's request to let it fully enforce a state law that bans transgender women and girls from participating on public school sports teams consistent with their gender identity. In an unsigned order, the court denied West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey's emergency request to let the state enforce the 2021 law. Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas dissented, saying they would have granted the request. Earlier this year, a lower federal court ordered the state to temporarily stop halt the ban against Becky Pepper-Jackson, a 12-year-old transgender girl who sued the state over the law shortly after its passage.

Like other sports, track and filed cracked down on those who were doping because it created an unfair advantage. Allowing trans to compete in female track is also unfair for the same reason.

"ordered the state to temporarily stop halt the ban against Becky Pepper-Jackson" Much less controversial than ordering them to start halt the ban, but easier than trying to stop proceed it. How can we expect CNN to be consistent with reality, when they have demonstrated a difficulty just having coherent grammar?

Had the legislature not played grandstand politics, and let the state high school athletics commission handle this, it is unlikely this would be in courts. And now those expecting “justice” will get a decision.

Becky Pepper Jackson sounds like a good name for a puppy. BTW when are puppies going to be allowed to run in women's track and field events ? They might not do so good in the pole vault but the cats would kick butt.

I blame the Adults, the Parents'. All of them seem willing to enroll their children in these after school athletics instead of forming an after school Club. We have all sorts of athletic clubs in our city.: tennis clubs, baseball and softball clubs, soccer, motor cross clubs. horse clubs. It seems like they would rather complain than do what needs to be done. Maybe I don't understand but athletic Clubs do exist that don't have these problems. Perhaps a Parent can explain this to me because I didn't have this problem as a kid or a Parent.

This is not a SCOTUS endorsement of so-called trans rights. The Court is declining to insert itself into ongoing litigation. It remains to be seen how that litigation will play out or what might come before SCOTUS down the road.

Democrat state representatives switching parties and one special election over the last month gave Republicans three new supermajorities in state legislatures, bringing the total to 25 nationwide. This week, North Carolina state Rep. Trisha Cotham announced her departure from the Democrat party and effectively changed her party affiliation to the Republican Party, ultimately giving the Republicans in the Tar Heel State a veto-proof supermajority in both the House and Senate. “The party wants to villainize anyone who has free thought, free judgment, has solutions and wants to get to work to better our state,” Cotham said during a press conference announcing her decision to formally leave the Democrat party.

I recently reviewed the results of the mayoral election in Chicago, which appear to have sounded the death knell for America’s third-largest city. The buildings will remain and the people without the means to escape will still huddle in their homes (at least those who have homes), hoping to avoid being the next statistic in a crime wave that shows no signs of abating. Commerce has slowed to a crawl and its once-famous entertainment district is now too dangerous for most to risk an evening out on the town. He will make stops at the Mackinac Center for Public Policy, a conservative-leaning think tank, and Pizza Sam’s, a restaurant run by former state Senate Appropriations Chair Jim Stamas. Later, DeSantis has an evening event planned at Hillsdale College.

Under the administration’s proposal, schools would be prohibited from adopting or applying a “one-size-fits-all” policy that categorically bans transgender students from participating on sports teams consistent with their gender identity. “Such bans fail to account for differences among students across grade and education levels,” the Education Department said Thursday in a news release. “They also fail to account for different levels of competition — including no-cut teams that let all students participate

Gavin Newsom is quickly (and calculatingly) attempting to solidify himself as a top contender for the Democratic nomination for president in the event Joe Biden bows out, and he’s gone about it primarily by sniffing around in the backyards of the red states that many of his former constituents have fled to by hundreds of thousands. Most recently Newsom traveled to Florida, ostensibly on grounds to note his supposed concern about kids allegedly not being taught “real history” (read: woke history).
