Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) announced what has been described as the “largest tax relief proposal” in the Sunshine State’s history, which includes permanent sales tax relief on baby and toddler necessities, gas stoves, and more. Speaking in Marion County, DeSantis briefly highlighted the state of affairs economically in Florida, noting that the state has one of the lowest per capita tax burdens in the country and no income tax while promising to “keep it that way.” “We also have one of the lowest per capita debt burdens in the country,” he said, touting the state’s top status in terms of the formation of new businesses,

Add home owners insurance to the 'needs guidance to lower' list. Friends & relatives are getting hammered with double & triple rate hikes.Classmate of mine is struggling to stay in her paid off FL home due to insane increases in past few years of storm damages. Lost her husband's second income when he died early in 2020 covid season & won't retire for years now. Got to keep income up to stay in a smallish home/modular. Wonder how so many homes were under insured before the last hurricanes blew thru? Find a fix for that.

The mayor of East Hanover, New Jersey, and all four members of the township council have switched from the Democrat to the Republican Party. In a statement, Mayor Joseph Pannullo said that the party flip in a township of 11,105 people will be the best move to represent the constituents, deriding what he called the “nastiness” on social media that further drives a wedge between voters. “Municipal leaders have a responsibility to best represent their constituents, and it is our belief this change of party is in the best interest of the community,” said Pannullo, as reported by the New Jersey Globe. “As the nastiness, rhetoric, and social media vitriol

The White House got a jab in on Florida Gov. Ron Desantis Thursday during a press gaggle aboard Air Force One en route to the Sunshine State. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was asked by reporters for comment on the DeSantis administration's ongoing feud with the Walt Disney Company. Jean-Pierre chuckled during her response, saying, "I don't know about you all, but I certainly would not get into a fight with Mickey Mouse. I don't think that would be the thing I would be doing." She also referenced the Republicans' rebuttal to Biden's State of the Union address in which Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders stated

I’m not entirely sure where to begin with this one. First, in all the kerfuffle over China’s wandering weather spy balloon which, coincidentally (or not), initially entered US airspace on January 28th, I (we?) missed out on the news that on that same date, bright green lasers shot over the night sky in Hawaii. No, really. Initially, the lasers were thought to have come from a NASA spacecraft: A camera attached to a telescope on Hawaii’s tallest peak recently captured footage of a series of eerie, bright green lines that shot across the night sky for just over a second. Experts say the unexpected light show resulted from a rapid burst

As a Special Agent in Miami, she worked on many high-profile cases and won awards and accolades for her hard work and diligence. Last year she resigned in disgust. Pamela Paul is a relative newcomer as a NY Times columnist. She used to be the editor of The New York Times Book Review but switched to writing columns last year. From what I can tell, Paul is fairly progressive on some issues but she also seems to be the kind of progressive who isn’t terribly fond of the wokeism and cancel culture that is gradually dominating left-wing spaces. Last month she wrote a really interesting take on the cancelation of American Dirt, the controversial novel which seemed to mark a turning point in the censorious left’s ability to dominate the discussion. The Biden administration has determined that the suspected Chinese surveillance balloon that traversed the United States last week was operating with electronic surveillance technology capable of monitoring US communications, according to a senior State Department official. The balloon "was capable of conducting signals intelligence collection operations" and was part of a fleet that had flown over "more than 40 countries across five continents." "We know the PRC used these balloons for surveillance," the official said. "High resolution imagery from U-2 flybys revealed that the high-altitude balloon was capable of conducting signals intelligence collection operations."

Now I wouldn’t say that Woodruff was a tough questioner, but she did ask questions about both topics. Joe being Joe, he tried to blame other people for his classified document scandal. As social media platforms go, Twitter is unquestionably one of the big ones — with between 370 million and 450 million monthly active users. It’s been the subject of countless news stories of late, between the Twitter Files, and Wednesday’s hearing on Capitol Hill before the House Oversight Committee. Late Wednesday afternoon, however, the site appeared to suffer a widespread outage. Users attempting to tweet began receiving messages that they were over their daily-allotted tweet limit. Before too long, however, users discovered tweets would send if scheduled. As of 6:00 pm Eastern, the site still appears to be largely down (aside from scheduled tweets) — though there were signs

(Snip) In the months that followed the robbery, Citibank declined Johnson’s multiple requests for refunds, as well as his appeals, arguing that Johnson had authorized the money transfers. This, despite Johnson sharing with Citibank’s fraud department the police report documenting the crime that occurred.
