The United States Army took a serious hit to recruitment last year, something they’re trying to come back from by expanding a program to prepare out-of-shape applicants for basic training.
As the world stares down Russian and Chinese aggression, military preparedness is at the forefront of the country’s mind. Unfortunately, 2022 saw the Army fail to meet its 60,000 soldier enlistment goal by a shocking 15,000. In an effort to bolster its numbers, top brass announced the expansion of the Future Soldier Preparatory Course, a boot camp for out-of-shape recruits who want to meet the fitness requirements maintained by the military.

As a former gravitationally challenged airman, I say KMA. You harass people with no regard to duty performance and use it as an excuse to throw them out when manning is good, then conveniently let it slide when you are coming up short. Maybe your precious trannies and tattooed circus freaks can make up the shortfall.

Why defend a country that treats their enemies better than it treats their military?

The basic question is "who would want to serve under the current administration that would send people to death for some politically correct issue? Biden and his ilk are corrupt and reckless with our resources.

The Marines and Navy have Boot Camp, the Army and USAF have Basic Training. Does no one employee editors anymore?

#1, my father was in the USAF, and my daughter is in the USMC. Her contact ends next month. I was so excited and proud when she enlisted, and was hopeful she would stay in and continue to rise through the ranks, but the last couple years they have completely destroyed the military and ruined my pride and happiness, and in glad she's getting out. It profoundly saddens me to see what they've done to our military, along with so many other of our once proud institutions.

They should repackage the ad "Army of One," with "Army of Woke" since that's who they are now.

You'd probably get more, and better recruits, if you'd stop with all the mamby pamby CRT, diversity, woke liberal trans-whatever crapola...I don't think I"d re-enlist in todays military....just sayin'.....

Moreover, who in their right mind would join a military headed by Biden, Thoroughly Modern General Milly, and Loyd the over weight Austin?

Lowering the standards for recruits the same as they've have been lowered for Flag Officers will solve the problem... It certainly has worked for the position of Secretary of Defense.

Milly and other incompetent military leaders drove the good people away, now they have a shortage. Remember when they used to call WW1 soldiers "doughboys?" Now it will have real literal meaning. Keep your personal weapons oiled up and ready because if this country is attacked, the citizens are on their own.

Now is the time for surgeons experienced in top and bottom surgery for pre teens to help out. By removing the fat from recruit’s abdomen and hind quarters, Back when I was in basic and Advanced Infantry Training it was done by physical exercise, “encouraged” by scary drill sergeants.

50 years ago this summer, my best friend joined the Marines. He was 6 foot 3 and weighed 300 pounds. He was tired of being flabby, tired of being rejected by girls on the basis of his appearance. There was no special program for him, but he stayed in the extremely rigorous Marine Boot Camp, which pushes most young men to the breaking point for three months, for six months. No special considerations were made for him. He had to meet their standards. And he did. I've never seen anyone prouder when he returned home just after New Years (he didn't quite meet standards by Christmas). He'd lost over 100 pounds, and he was in Marine shape. It was the best thing that ever happened to him, and he never regained the weight.

This is the Obama military. This is what the Obama communists wanted.

Lowing standards has worked to wonderfully well in the public school system then it should work in the military. What lunatic dreams this crap up?

If the snow flakes and trannies the Army has had to recruit can't meet the fitness requirements, the Biden army will just reduce the requirements until they can. Simple.

Re #6. Two nephews joined the USMC, but after their first enlistment was up both were disillusioned with the deterioration of the Corps. The damage due to woke nonsense and self-serving senior enlisted Marines made both happy to leave, and deeply saddened and disappointed in what the Corps has become.

Back in the day, the only thing I hated about army basic training was KP. The funnest experience was crawling 50 yards under barbed wire with turf bombs exploding and machinegun bullets whizzing overhead. The tracers were easily seen because the training was at night. I went into the army as a boy and left as a man. There were no snowflakes in my platoon. We did not want to be in uniform but made the best of it.

I don't have faith in the administrative aspects of the military. My oldest just turned 18 December 27th and he's obligated to sign up for the Selective Service, but I would actively discourage him from pursuing a career in the military right now (unless of course the draft is re-instituted.)

Of course he's no choice if draft is restarted. At that point I'd tell him to volunteer for the Space Corps

I would guess any training officer worth anything has quit, rather than walk on egg shells with a bunch of "she, they, its" who will get their feelings hurt and report them to the officer who wears a dress and pearls.

I thought I was [r]ucked in 1968 when I was drafted to fight for the likes of Lyndon Johnson and Robert McNamara. I still had spirit and pride of country, today not so much. I wouldn't want my children and grandchildren to serve for the bloated politicians today. Go to combat to protect a fraud CIC, a bloated woke chow hound General, rich Nancy Pelosi, Jerol Nadler, you name it. Let Hunter go fight along with trannies, homosexual, tattooed gender neutrals who steal luggage and lesbians who have to be vaccinated to serve. How do the 'volunteers' want their death served up. I can see it now.
