How Pete Buttigieg and Washington lobbyists
are fueling the US airline crisis

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg is coming under fire over disasters ranging from the airlines’ holiday meltdown to the train wreck that has spilled chemicals in Ohio — and critics are blaming his cozy ties with the industries he’s supposed to regulate. Outrage over US air chaos spilled into President Biden’s State of the Union Address earlier this month. The commander-in-chief vowed to crack down on excessive fees, saying “airlines can’t treat your child like a piece of baggage” and demanded that “airlines show you the full ticket price upfront and refund your money if your flight is canceled or delayed.”

Face it, Butt Gig's only qualification for the job is that he is gay and is therefore a slap in the face of normal people. He has nothing else. Anyway, shouldn't that guy named Rachel Levine be the Trans Secretary?

I haven't observed any "cozy ties with the industries he's supposed to regulate." I think he is most likely incompetent since he evidently was selected based upon his sexual orientation, not job performance or knowledge of the transportation sector. The country is paying for the lack of meritocracy.

Petey isn't cozy with anybody except maybe for the wife with the identical plumbing that he climbs behind every night. True incompetence and a talent for using four-syllable words are the sole qualifications for many middle managers in this country, we have all known a few, but this little princess can't even fill a pothole. Every transportation crisis this country has is fixable, including the trucking and container ship backup caused by the Newsom goon in California. The train wreck in Ohio was indeed a train wreck and that AA clown from the EPA made the comment that will define it indefinitely, "Trust the Government." The airlines are suffering from the same malady that every major corporation now has, insufficient qualified staffing due to destructive COVID management and competition of their payroll offering with government handouts. I stopped by a Taco Bell yesterday for the first time in a couple of years and they no longer fit the description of "fast food." A couple of tacos took them 25 minutes to prepare, they were so scrawny that the sides touched each other and the price was ridiculous. Joe and his sham government caused all of this.

Trump famously bragged about acing his own mental acuity test while he was in office. It was later revealed the assessment asked respondents such basic questions as distinguishing an elephant from a camel. 'ANYBODY running for the Office of President of the United States should agree

In oral arguments set for Tuesday, the Supreme Court will address the scope of Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act for the first time as legal experts signal a ruling against Google could change the internet for the worse by opening online companies up to a flurry of litigation. The justices will hear arguments in a case appealed by the family of Nohemi Gonzalez, a 23-year-old California-based woman who was shot and killed in 2015 by Islamist militants in Paris. Lower courts previously dismissed a lawsuit against YouTube's owner Google seeking monetary damages, citing Section 230. Google and YouTube are part of parent company Alphabet

Last weekend, we celebrated the 8th birthday of one our youngest (of 18) grandchildren. For all of us, "family events" like these offer an opportunity to reflect on the future of our progeny. President Ronald Reagan (having borrowed the phrase from John Winthrop) often described our nation thus: "America is a shining city upon a hill whose beacon light guides freedom-loving people everywhere." Unfortunately, given the present domestic trajectory of our country and threats from foreign adversaries, our hopes for all our grandchildren may well fall short of Reagan's vision unless things change dramatically and in short order. Herewith, some current domestic vulnerabilities: Constitutional infringement:

A dozen conservative Anglican archbishops from various global churches announced that they no longer recognized the Archbishop of Canterbury as the leader of the Anglican Communion Monday, weeks after the Church of England approved the blessing of same-sex unions. The decision to bless such unions, made earlier February, meant that the Church of England “had chosen to break communion” with foreign churches that “remain faithful to the historic biblical faith,” a group of archbishops from the Global South Fellowship of Anglican Churches (GSFA) said in a press statement. The 12 archbishops who signed the letter,

Members of the now-defunct January 6 Committee howled in protest as Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) reportedly gave Fox News host Tucker Carlson access to over 40,000 hours of footage of the Capitol riot. The Committee, hand-picked by then Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) for their hatred of former President Donald Trump, only released selected clips — and doctored the evidence to push their narrative of an “insurrection.” Critics of the committee had long argued that they should release all of the evidence. After Axios reported that Carlson had been given the footage, committee members reacted in outrage — mostly singing from the same songsheet: namely, accusing Carlson,

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday accused the West of trying to turn a “local conflict” in Ukraine into a “global confrontation” — as he issued a nuclear warning to Kyiv’s allies in an unhinged speech to his country’s parliament and elites, which signaled no end in sight for the bloody war. Russia’s defiant 70-year-old leader delivered his rambling address railing against the West just days before the one-year anniversary of Ukraine’s invasion – and a mere 24 hours after President Biden made a surprise visit to Kyiv in a show of support for the embattled country. Russian President Vladimir Putin has pointed to the Church of England's recent decision to explore gender-neutral terms for God as evidence that the West does not know what it is doing and is heading for a 'spiritual catastrophe'. Delivering a state-of-the-nation address to the Russian people today, Putin railed against perceived Western stupidity and said the West was waging a culture war against Russian Orthodox Christian values. 'The Anglican Church is considering a gender-neutral God. May God forgive them for they know not what they do,' Putin declared.

We were told there were 14,000 hours of surveillance video, but now it appears there are roughly 41,000 hours of tape. Tucker has long questioned whether J6 was an actual insurrection. The FBI stated in August 2021 they found little evidence that the crowd tried to topple the United States. A Harvard University survey released in August 2022 said the same thing. Democrats have fought to keep the tapes under wraps. That is understandable, as it’s hard to cry “insurrection” when looking at videos

"The derailment of a Norfolk Southern train carrying hazardous materials near East Palestine, Ohio, has upended the lives of numerous residents, many of whom continue to worry about

Once upon a time we mocked the Soviet Union for its gerontocracy. Aged party leaders, bundled up in overcoats and fur hats to the point of near-unrecognizability, would be wheeled out to sit, immobile, as parades passed or party congresses opened. Their withered, stale leadership was emblematic of the decaying USSR’s withered, stale ideology — and industrial base. But now the joke’s on us. A leading United States senator, Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), can’t seem to remember important things, like her just-taken vote on a judicial nominee and her just-announced retirement. “Did I vote for that?” she asked an aide Wednesday, moments after leaving the chamber.

The long-range missiles matter. So do the super-accurate artillery shells, the surface-to-air missiles, and the winter weather gear; the training in the English countryside or the muddy Grafenwöhr maneuver grounds; and the intelligence provided from the eyes in space and the ears on airplanes that circle outside the battlezone. President Biden’s visit to Kyiv matters just as much as any of these. Other heads of government preceded him, earning deserved credit. But it is an altogether different thing when the president of the United States—who is, indeed, the leader of the Free World—shows up. His words mattered.
