New York lawmakers are now officially the highest paid state legislators in the land after they awarded themselves a massive pay raise.
Members of both houses, 63 senators and 150 Assembly members, are getting a pay boost of $32,000 for a new base salary of $142,000, under a bill Gov. Kathy Hochul signed a day before her inauguration Sunday.
That’s just shy of a 30 percent lift over their previous salary of $110,000, AP reports.
The Democratic Party holds supermajorities in both houses of the New York State Legislature.

Raising Wages causes inflation, so says Christine LaGarde, President of the European Central Bank. Rules for Radicals says force opponents to live by their own rules. So I would expect these lawmakers to be driving electric cars, and limiting their travel, eating vegan, all to save the planet. Does the left need a Hug a Conservative Day Holiday added to their calendar to show their acceptance of diversity? You decide.

Elitist democrat grifters gave themselves a big pay raise. Legislators also receive $183 a day per diem plus mileage. The rich vs. poor class warfare narrative is false. The warfare is being waged by elitists (mostly democrats) against the middle class. Democrats hate the power and money possessed by the middle class. And they are fearful of the hundreds of millions of middle class gun owners.

Each day I'm more inclined to believe what poster 3 said: 'they are fearful of the hundreds of millions of middle class gun owners '
Why else such ruthless moves to disarm us? History spells it out.

Democrats always bail themselves out from their own destructive policies. They never suffer their own consequences.

They deserve these raises. Look how well their state is being run. Who could ask for anything better. How many days do they actually convene? Some states are only in secession two months

How much of what I earn can I convert to a tax-free 'per diem' to cover expenses I use to go to work every day and do my job?

The best way to ensure good legislators is to make the job pay NOTHING. No money to be gained in any way from the job.

Out of FEDERAL funds.
Biden bailed them. I in Texas am paying these self voted raises and I'm rightfully pizzed.
The Republic of Texas approaches.
Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, S Dakota, N Dakota, Montana, Alberta (Canada), Saskatchewan (Canada), Manitoba (Canada), and a few states along the sides. Let's go EAST. Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida.
We have every shipping port in The Gulf of Mexico and half the Atlantic and more oil than the Saudis ever dreamed of.
California and New York can print their own money. If they want to trade they can use Panama. We WILL protect our borders ,north, south, east, and west.
If you're coming to visit Texas bring your US passport with the pre-approved visitor's visa.

In addition to the wages, per diem per day, and mileage reimbursement, they can earn $35K in additional work outside of their position. and all they can grab under the table for those so inclined. Since they only work part time as Congress people, there is plenty of time to work elsewhere.

No disrespect intended #9, but Brandon didn’t GIVE us a SS raise. It’s his incompetence caused inflation that gave us a raise. You are however correct (it was inadvertently his gift).

To the so-called power people in the once GREAT STATE of New York; You had better wake up as the people are getting restless because they can see the handwriting on the wall. More and more people, (taxpayers to you), are leaving in droves to get out of your totally corrupt state.
I truly feel sorry for the people who cannot financially move out tomorrow.
Also; What is the government going to do when they are forced to increase the tax base to pay for your greed??

I wonder if New York voters approve. Sometimes I think there's a disconnect and they're rooting for these shysters, too dumb or uncaring to realize these legislators are living off of them.

Giving themselves a raise was part of their campaign platform, right? What? They hid this from their gullible constituents? (AKA, the stupid people.)

New York is going to enjoy a short and sweet period of Leftist paradise before they all go over the cliff. Both New York and California have yet to feel the serious sting of taxpayers and major businesses having left for better pastures. Their main hope for making money now is to put up bars around the city and charge tourists to see the zoo.
