Milley has taken Alexander Haig’s arrogance to the next level. This man does not understand the chain of command, but I would wager he demands that it be adhered to around him. He took upon himself a position that was in no way in his per view. Who does he think he is to keep anything from his Commander in Chief or lie to him? He should be facing an immediate court martial for his outrageous usurpation of power. The fact that he is not is an indictment on Biden the entire democrat party along with Republicans. As CIC he, more than anyone should want to protect the chain of command. If Milley’s behavior is without consequence, what I believe in my soul is affirmed. The democrat party was planting the seeds of a coup d’etat during President Trump’s term as President. No general in our history would ever take it upon himself to actually lie to the President and usurp his authority. If anyone understands and respects the chain of command it is a general in the United States military. If his treachery stands without arrest and indictment, our military has surrendered to leftist ideology. Clearly, the office of the POTUS has been disrespected. This treasonous act was purely political and Milley must pay a severe price for his arrogance. We now know the military has been politicized, and that cannot be allowed to stand. Milley must go. Every General in the military should demand it if they respect the chain of command and want to protect it.

The only way America will ever be Free again is to rid itself of the Treasonous scum like Milley and so many of the other Flag Officers who have drunk the Democrat Kool-Aid. Every competent/patriotic Flag officer was retired or fired under the Kenyon, leaving no one to mentor the junior officers and teach them how to command with Honor. Do they still have an "Honor-Code" at our Military Academies, or is that White-Supremacy, too?

If Miley’s past actions are true, the obviously extremely politicized Mark Milley should become subject to legal procedures leading to him to be dishonorably discharged from the armed forces for seriously exceeding his authority big time. Milley has really no defense as there is no evidence, beyond a leftist Democrat and Pelosi created political dirty trick, to the effect that Trump ever intended to attack Communist China with nuclear weapons. You could say today that Milley would have a better case by hiding the nuclear codes from Biden, who from time to time is so cognitively disoriented that he mistakes one country for another, as when Biden recently got Cambodia mixed up by calling that Asian country Columbia, thus showing that he could inadvertently in a clinch order the wrong country to be nuked if it came to that.

Milley and the Joint Chiefs have ZERO command authority, They are advisory only, reporting ONLY to the SecDef and the President. ALL command authority travels from the President to the SecDef and then down to the forces...nowhere, anywhere in the Military Chain of command does the Speaker of the House get even a mention. Milley never should have taken a direct call from her unless that contact was cleared by theSecDef and/or the President....though I seem to remember in a fuller quote from that call he told her in no uncertain terms that HER attempting to subvert the chain of command would be called "Treason".

Treason at the federal level is defined in Article III, Section 3 of our Constitution. Elements of the offense include "levying War against [the United States], or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort." 18 US Code 2381, our federal criminal law "bible," has comporting language. The problem with "enemies" as related to China are the official US policies of trade and diplomacy of both the Trump and Biden administrations. This is true even though Milley has/had an "obligation of allegiance to the legal order, and intent and action to violate that obligation," the other elements of offense do not appear to me met. Legally, one cannot posit China as an "enemy," when so much of the goods bought and sold within the US come from China, including rare Earth metals used in technology manufacturing, including the holy grail of electrical storage batteries, and chemicals used to manufacture OTC and prescription drugs within the US. The crime of "treason" is not simply a popular perception, "we know it when we see it," crime but has distinct elements of offense that must be met. There are elements of offense under the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) under which Milley can be tried and convicted but as the military's senior democrat activist, the chances of our current Commander-in-Chief seeking to punish Milley are lower than the chances of Milley being tried and convicted of treason.

I proudly served under Reagan and Busch the elder. This was back when the chain of command, honor and integrity still ment something. I'm now ashamed of the US military. Not the rank and file, but of the senior officer ranks in general. They were still somewhat corrupt in the 80's and 90's, but for the most part wouldn't sell out the country for partisan politics. The US military was the last non- political US institution. Preceded by the FBI.

#29, thanks for taking the emotion out and getting back to legal definitions. Milley should be hauled in and sat down into a public hearing before Congress. As you point out, he should be charged under the UCMJ (and publicly embarrassed). But it is John Kerry, the Dem from MA who should have been convicted of treason for providing "aid and comfort" to an enemy, in two different decades (different centuries, even), with two different enemies. If he had been properly charged after negotiating with the enemy during Vietnam, he would never have grown into the egomaniac who went behind Trump's back to negotiate with Iran, trying to undermine the official policicies of the US government. Then there is Bowe Bergdahl, the traitor supported by Obama and Susan Rice.

Everyone on these sorts of threads likes to insist that the criminal (here, Milley) be tried for treason and executed. My question: When Milley committed these treasonous acts, what was his position? Was it a military position, under which he would be tried in a military trial under the Uniform Code of Military Justice? Or was it a an appointed position, for which he would be prosecuted by the DOJ and tried in a Washington, D.C. federal district court? Or was it a purely political position, under which he could be impeached by the House and tried in the Senate? Take any of these alternatives and ask whether a trial could produce a guilty verdict of treason, let alone a sentence of death: (a) Would the DOJ prosecute Milley? Perish the thought. Nor would any D.C. jury convict him, since 92% of the D.C. jury pool vote leftist dem in every election. (b) Would the House impeach Milley? Possibly, if the House Republicans could ever agree unanimously on anything. Would the Senate's dem majority convict Milley on the impeachment? No way. Chuckie Schumer wouldn't let there be so much as a discussion of the matter. (c) Could Milley be tried and convicted in a military tribunal under the Uniform Code of Military Justice? That might be possible, but what military court or Judge Advocate General Corps would take it upon themselves to indict or charge the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs for these actions? Their leaders up the chain of command would lock them in the brig, demote them, and drum them out of the service for the attempt. Conclusion: Say what you will, but Milley will never be charged for his treason, let alone tried, convicted, or executed. And his military retirement pension will be enormously higher than any of ours. See, e.g., Lois Lerner of the IRS.

When they enter the medical profession, medical students are required to take the Hippocratic Oath, which includes a provision to “do no harm.” Perhaps economists at the Federal Reserve Board should be required to take a similar oath. Based on their performance over the past two decades, Fed economists have failed to use monetary policy to fulfill the twin mandate of price stability and full employment. During the Great Moderation in monetary policy in the 1980s and 1990s under the leadership of Fed chairmen Paul Volcker and Alan Greenspan, the Fed fulfilled this mandate

The latest Twitter file drop makes it even more explicit than before: the American government was Twitter’s secret partner. Readers of The Conservative Treehouse are surprised because the site predicted this partnership months ago. While his details may be off, his instincts were spot-on. Before the 10th drop, we learned that the FBI and CIA were constantly demanding information from Twitter and instructing it about which accounts it needed to drop.

Patti Davis, actress and youngest daughter of the late President Reagan gave Prince Harry some sage yet unsolicited advice ahead of the release of his memoir, "Spare." In an OpEd written for the New York Times, Davis, 70 cautioned the Duke of Sussex to be judicious with his candor. "My justification in writing a book I now wish I hadn’t written…was very similar to what I understand to be Harry’s reasoning. I wanted to tell the truth, I wanted to set the record straight. Naïvely, I thought if I put my own feelings and my own truth out there for the world to read, my family might also come to understand

The majestic structures of ancient Rome have survived for millennia — a testament to the ingenuity of Roman engineers, who perfected the use of concrete. But how did their construction materials help keep colossal buildings like the Pantheon (which has the world's largest unreinforced dome) and the Colosseum standing for more than 2,000 years? Roman concrete, in many cases, has proven to be longer-lasting than its modern equivalent, which can deteriorate within decades. Now, scientists behind a new study say they have uncovered the mystery ingredient that allowed the Romans to make their construction material so durable and build elaborate structures in challenging places such as docks, sewers and earthquake zones.

During an interview with CBS’ “The Takeout” podcast recorded on Thursday and released on Friday, former NIAID Director Dr. Anthony Fauci claimed that the term “is such a nebulous, generic term” and “we don’t even use the word gain-of-function.” CBS News Chief Washington Correspondent Major Garrett said, “There are acolytes of Elon Musk who say when you read gain-of-function, you should just translate that to bioweapon.” Fauci responded, “That’s absolutely incorrect. For example — the reason we don’t even use the word gain-of-function. We use the word what kind of guardrails do you need to put on a proposed experiment,

Much has been made of the fact that it took 15 votes until Republican Kevin McCarthy finally secured the Speakership of the House. Powerline Blog has rounded up a series of the internet cartoons and memes about the long fight. With their salaries on the line, I never imagined the fight would continue much longer. It would appear that the extended debate may at last result in Congress more skillfully playing the role designed for it in the Constitution and a much-needed return to the regular order of business in the House. Many emphasized that the fight represented a disastrous split in the party whose hold on the House is

Lia Thomas did it, so why can’t Iszac Henig? Lia is the University of Pennsylvania swimmer who performed indifferently on the men’s team and then proclaimed that he was a woman. Competing on the women’s team, lo and behold, suddenly he became a championship swimmer, breaking records left and right and winning an NCAA swimming championship. It was the strength he got from being transgender and enduring bigotry and hate, right? So we should expect that Iszac Henig, who used to be a female swimmer and now says she is a male, would perform at the same stellar level, right? Well, it didn’t quite turn out that way.

There are certain moments when partisanship is put aside and the ceremony is respected. It’s what decent human beings do – they put animosity and disagreement aside for the moment and focus on the moment. You see it in applauding the entrance of the President of the United States to deliver the State of the Union Address. Do you think everyone wants to stand and applaud? (Snip)Leave it to Democrats to, well, be Democrats and be the complete guttersnipes they are (Snip) I’m speaking about the election of Kevin McCarthy as Speaker of the House and the garbage person Democrats elected to be their leader, Hakeem Jeffries,

When President Joe Biden makes his first visit to the border with Mexico on Sunday, he will hear from aid workers helping manage the immigration crisis and from local officials desperate for more support. What he won't see are the miserable makeshift camps dotted around El Paso that triggered headlines last month about migrants taking over the streets. On Tuesday and Wednesday law enforcement teams moved through the downtown area, picking up migrants who had entered the country illegally. As a result, he may get a view of the border but not of the crisis, say infuriated border agents
