‘I’ve Earned This Job’: McCarthy
Unleashes on GOP Holdouts in Tense Meeting
ahead of Speakership Vote

House GOP leader Kevin McCarthy signaled he was done negotiating with his detractors in an effort to win the speakership during a tense closed-door meeting on Tuesday morning, according to a new report. Several House Republicans doubled down on their promises to oppose McCarthy’s bid after the meeting, which was held ahead of what is expected to be a lengthy vote for the speakership. As many as 20 House Republicans may oppose McCarthy’s bid, according to reports. The California Republican will need 218 votes if every current member votes for a candidate by name — a difficult task with the party’s razor-thin majority in the House.

Maybe Mikey has 'earned' the gig based on RINO/Establishment Complex (REC) qualifications. But he hasn't earned it with the voters! These few Rebublican House members standing up to the RINO/Establishment Complex are representing voters and nothing else. Its nice that precious few voters have elected officials that actually represent the voters, not the politicians. Too bad the rest of us don't have representatives that represent us.

There is an accusation against him that he looks upon conservative voters as the main enemy. He hasn’t been able to shake it. On the other hand politics is the art of the possible. Republicans should see if they can put enough controls on him. Then hold their noses and accept him. Do better next time.

It's a two-year gig. If after two years and provided the Republicans can keep from shooting themselves in the foot and keep control of Congress, if they don't like what's been done, elect someone else. The fact that conservatives are making this election of speaker a contest, means they have gained enough power in the house to make some demands on whomever is chosen.

I truly believe that the only chance we have to save this republic is term limits for Congress!!!! 2 terms in the House, or 2 terms in the Senate, or 1 term in each!!! That's it. Then you go home. No retirement. No special privileges. And then you can't serve in any other federal government role (including cabinet positions or running for president or VP) for 5 years after you leave Congress. And former members of Congress are banned from ever being lobbyists!!!!! Even the most idealistic person joining Congress will get "sewer-itis" within a few years -- as building personal wealth and power becomes far more important than serving your constituents. So we must make sure that no member of Congress gets to stay in office long enough to succumb to this horrible condition!!!!!

You have not earned the Speakership. The other Republicans do not want a dictatorship, where they cannot attach amendments, or vote to dismiss the Speaker. McCarthy is not going to get the Speakership without concessions. The Freedom Caucus is tired of his lies and betrayals. It is personal. If McCarthy provides no concessions, then there will have to be another person put forward as a compromise.

You've been found wanting, dude! The nerve. It's not about you and what you deserve. MTG kept repeating that no one was asking favors for her as if she deserved something as well. Then, out of the other side of her mouth, she was claiming that she didn't need to make any special requests, only to later say that they all complete a form making a request for positions that they want. Your request is unique to you, girl, therefore it is a special request. She kept talking like one of those high speed trains so Bannon couldn't nail her down on stuff she was saying. It’s no secret that a lot of Republicans have been abandoning former president Trump since the disastrous midterm elections. For some reason, Trump seems to keep finding new ways to alienate his supporters and lose unnecessary battles. For a man whose political instincts took him all the way to the White House despite the desperate opposition of the entire political elite, his recent moves have been shocking. Let’s take a look at some of the self-inflicted wounds from the past few months. Trump’s first mistake was inserting himself back into the spotlight in the week before the midterm election wrapped up. Doing so seemed like a no-brainer at the time

Barbara Walters died last week at 93, but the legendary journalist’s legacy lives on: “The View,” the daytime-TV talker she created in 1997, is the most-watched — and most-talked-about — show in its genre. Some legacy, though: What Walters envisioned as “women of different generations, backgrounds and views” discussing “the topics of the day, mixing humor with intelligent debate,” devolved after she departed as co-host in 2014 into a four-against-one daily catfight with few laughs and even fewer smarts.
