House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy told reporters Tuesday would be a 'good day' after his staff spent Monday morning moving his office furniture into the Speaker's chambers.
Looking somewhat stressed on Monday afternoon, the California Republican was rushing out of the US Capitol when reporters asked him about the following day's House-wide vote to elect their chamber's leader.
McCarthy's campaign for the gavel has been somewhat bumpy for weeks, but the pressure has ramped up in the final 48 hours with as many as 15 GOP members allegedly ready to vote against him. He can only lose four votes to still clinch victory.

Like all rigged elections in this country the fix is already in and He knows it. We know it too. With the McEvil Twins running things the democrats have nothing to worry about. Mitch will control Kevin like a PlayStation game and Joe will continue on business as usual. The propaganda and lies will continue.

With such a thin margin, the Republicans have to hit the road running. There is not one other candidate for Speaker that can beat McCarthy, which displays the self-serving foolishness of Matt Gaetz and company. The country doesn't have time to waste on spurious nonsense. If the Republican members of the House want to enact any of the promises they made they need to start the legislative session unified with Speaker McCarthy at the helm.

Rather arrogant, isn't he. If he is chosen Speaker tomorrow, America will not have a good day. I much prefer Jim Jordan.

He must have taken advice on how to “win” elections from the Dems

If this were an honest congress, counting one's chickens before the vote would leave some serious egg on McCarthy's face.

2, hit the road running to where? Pass what legislation?
The blue team still owns the senate and presidency. There will be no legislation.
More Uniparty is all we're getting.

Thanks for that cold dash of "reality", #6. By all means let's not expect the House to do one solitary thing for the next two years. No investigations, no defunding the new army of IRS agents. No opposition at all. That will surely ensure that Republicans keep the House in 2024.

Why the stunt? These people think this is business as usual, but we're sick and tired of it and them.

He handed us proof he doesn't deserve to be speaker but knows he will be. Who else moves in before the vote?

More proof that our distrust of him is warranted. He could at least PRETEND the fix isn't in. He's just rubbing our noses in it. Get ready for four more years of the same as it has been.

7, they can't defund anything. Investigate what? They can't arrest anyone. The blue infected DoJ sure won't. The best and only thing they can do is force a government shutdown next September. You seriously think there won't be a few defections on that? We just saw $1.7 trillion in pork pass the Senate with 18 R traitors' help. The house is no different.
It isn't "reality". It is reality.

Reading all the posts here, I can see why the GOP can't get their act together. When the "base" is divided, the Party is divided. The Dems will continue to run this once great Country to the ground as the GOP stabs us all in the back. We the peons have no chance.

All I see (and have heard via interviews with these guys) is a bunch of Look At Me's who are more than willing to throw the baby out with the bathwater. They have NO alternatives, nor a willingness to work with McCarthy should he become Speaker, even though the man has given away more authority to these people than should be allowed. This isn't about not LIKING McCarthy, and he is also not responsible for the lack of a Red Wave---I'll put that down, once again, to Donald Trump. Get REAL!
