The Rise of the DeSantis Democrats

Miami - It’s almost 11 p.m. on a recent Friday night at ONE Gentlemens Club, and it’s dead except for the girls in their thongs, sitting on pleather couches, waiting for someone to give a lap dance to. No one can talk to anyone else. It’s too loud for that, what with the electronic drum, the incessant rapping. The rap is supposed to inspire twerking—and tens. Tonight, no one’s twerking. Tory Williams is alone at the bar in fishnets and boots. She should be mixing drinks. “Did you vote in the recent election?” I write in my notebook, then pass it to her. She nods.

No Democrats are going to vote for DeSantis. He is just as demonized among Democrats as Trump, just not at publicly. Florida is now considered like purgatory.

This one smells of bait and switch. I have been impressed with what DeSantis has done with Florida. We ALMOST have someone like him...except Abbott has not been as good at hiding the RINO wolf under his [tightly clad] conservative sheepskin. However if DeSantis is going to court the attention of the likes of Mitch the Chinese Eyotch and bask in the gaslight glow of Democrats, I feel really safe sticking to Trump. His overweening fault so far that I have seen has been misplaced trust in people who were dealing dirty to begin with. For all I know, Mitch will take DeSantis to a nearby cemetery and give him the Lestat Good Morning Kiss.

DeSaintus is not MAGA. He is the Jeb Bush of 2024, backed by Wall Street, Mitch McConnell, and Paul Ryan. He is a pretty governor but doesn't have a chance to become POTUS. Trump's base will not forgive him if he challenges the MAGA King. Democrats want DeSaintus to run to divide Republicans and ensure a Democrat win.

#7, I have been posting on this site for a long time. I was not a Trump supporter right away as I couldn't make up my mind with Scott Walker or Ben Carson. With that said, I voted for Donald Trump. I have my concerns with him running again in 2024. For one reason. He will have one term. Please don't paint me as someone who won't vote for Donald Trump but I will take a serious look at Ron DeSantis. I am getting tired of people bashing DeSantis to lift up Trump and I am equally tired of people bashing me because I am not on Trump's bandwagon right away. . .

No worries, folks, regardless of who you support. We have the luxury of having two quality candidates for president on the back burner who can show biden the cheater the door. Each of us is passionate about the future of our country, or what is left of it, whereas the left and the deep state have other interests. And these interests are not ours. It is not possible to please everyone with our own opinions. Afterall, we right-minded folks prefer to think for ourselves and not be told what to think and when. The latter is communism. As regards the former, all opinions remain welcome here. signed, Another seasoned L.com commenter P.S. - by the way, an interesting piece by Reingold

If the cheating machine is still in place, it will not matter who the GOP runs as a candidate. The top democrats must be crushed, humiliated and imprisoned before the next election or we will be crowning brainless Kamala or the other brainless governor goodhair from the great state of California and the downfall of America will continue until 2028, if we last that long.

#7. The only people who can divide Republicans are Republicans! Those who are so Small Minded and Hateful that their Candidate was not chosen to run for President that they will take their Marbles and go home are the ones who will allow our Party to be Divided. I think we should, once again, allow the Majority of Republicans to choose their own Candidate and then ALL of us should get in line and vote for that Person! Since when is one Group, in our Party, allowed to force everyone to vote for their candidate, Or Else? If DeSantis runs, and beats Trump, then that's the will of the People! If those 70 million Trump Voters then decide not to vote at all, it only says they care more about their guy winning than saving our Country from four more years of Democrat Rule. I can't imagine any Republican wanting that to happen!

Perhaps #13 but with too many Republicans caving to the Democrats, not sure how DeSantis or anyone can save this country. I think the people who are dividing Republicans are Republicans like McConnell, et al. who did not fully support the pro-conservative and pro-American policies of Donald Trump that Republicans always claim to support. Don't blame us. BTW - one of my concerns about DeSantis is as a veteran, like too many Republican veterans in Congress, is he going to 100% blindly support the DoD and foreign interventions like Ukraine?

DeSantis is certainly the most impressive governor in the country. To win the presidency the nominee must peel off some of the self-identified Democrat voters. The author gives Reagan credit for doing so but weirdly doesn’t praise Donald Trump for doing the exact same thing. Trump won because he appealed to disaffected Democrats. DeSantis can do that as well.

I think everyone should relax and take a deep breath. The primaries and the 2024 election is a long way off and anything can happen. The only person who knows the future is our Lord God. Governor Ron DeSantis and President Trump may not be competing against each other in 2024, so all of our pontificating was of naught. So the only Person who holds the future, again, is God. After the 2022 election and the shock of the loss of the Senate and the poor showing in the House, we're letting go and letting God sort everything out. (God has a plan and it may not be ours) In the meantime, we will pray, watch, support, give and do what we can to help the MAGA conservatives win. So bottom line, Trust God, pray, but work like the devil is coming down the road! Because he is.

Addressing a joint session of the U.S. Congress in his first overseas trip since Russia invaded his country more than 300 days ago, Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky took aim at the burgeoning isolationist tendency in American politics, urging lawmakers to ramp up support for his embattled homeland out of self-interest rather than any charitable impulse. Clad in his trademark dark green sweatshirt and cargo pants, Zelensky urged Congress to continue to provide the overwhelming military and financial aid that began to flow when Russia invaded and has continued unabated since, arguing that Russian aggression would further destabilize the U.S.-led international order if left unchecked.

Gov. DeSantis is taking a carrot and stick approach to Florida teachers. On the one hand he is offering them a big raise. On the other hand he is promoting a “paycheck protection” plan which takes aim at teachers unions in the state. Under the new plan, union dues wouldn’t be automatically deducted from paychecks. Instead, teachers would have to send unions a check every month. DeSantis is framing his plan on union dues as “paycheck protection” for teachers and said it would “be a more accurate reflection of who wants to be a part of this or not.” In his remarks, he coupled the union changes with

Islamabad, Pakistan – Taliban security forces fanned out to some universities and informal learning centers in Kabul on Wednesday, teachers said, enforcing an edict issued the night before that appears to have banned most females from any education beyond the sixth grade. In one instance, a teacher reported security forces barging into his class, shouting at girls to go home. "Some of students started verbal arguments with them, but they didn't listen. My students left their classes, crying," said Waheed Hamidi, an English-language teacher at a tuition center in Kabul. There has perhaps never been a dumber national obsession than the one that has existed over Donald Trump’s tax returns. Despite the IRS having had all of them over the decades, the press and its Democrat allies have long convinced themselves that Trump was illegally colluding with foreign nations and cheating on his taxes. They continued to hold that belief despite multiple audits of the former president over the years. Apparently, we were all supposed to believe that the IRS (the same IRS that targeted conservatives under Barack Obama) was actually a right-wing front group

Add yet another government overreach to the “Things You Didn’t Think Could Happen in America” file: Democrats on the lame-duck House and Ways and Means Committee voted Tuesday to release six years of former President Donald Trump’s tax returns. Why? Because they um, uh—because they want to? But wait, you say to yourself, that’s not possible; your tax returns are private by federal law, and therefore protected from release. The Dems of course found a sleazy way around that. The tax code allows the committee to look at people’s tax returns to provide “oversight” of the Internal Revenue Service, and by writing an official report on their findings,

The question in the title needs, I believe, critical examination. Why DOES the Left hate Trump so much? The answer, as usual, can largely be found by analyzing history. But first. Do they hate him because the average price of a gallon of gas in his administration was far lower than under Biden? Is it because inflation was low (around 2%) and trending downward? Is it that the USA was energy independent and didn’t need to beg our enemies for oil, deplete our strategic oil reserve or sell it to China? Is it because black and Hispanic unemployment was lower than at any time in history?
