The 11th Circuit Court of Appeals having previously ruled the special master cannot review classified documents, also ruled today against the special master having any involvement in the filtering of seized documents from Mar-a-Lago. [Ruling Here] Previously, the lower court appointed a special master to review the seized documents and ensure no privileged material was exploited by the DOJ. However, the appellate court determined the DOJ can independently define a national security interest and classify documents with no legal basis for challenge, therefore the special master cannot filter classified documents.

This better go to the Supreme Court and they better fix this. If the former President of the United States can't inspect an unrestricted search warrant then NOBODY can. And in effect, the government then has unlimited and unchallengeable ability to search and seize documents from ANYONE. The Constitution is null and void until this is corrected.

Regardless of whether an indictment is ever issued, I fail to understand why a person is not allowed to know the things that the government seized from their home. The Washington Post has already reported that according to confidential sources within the FBI, the items at best had only nominal commercial or intelligence value. Trump may be entitled to keep some of them. How can he petition for the return of documents and other items without an inventory? The trial court should have been permitted to set an Order to Show Cause hearing for the production of an inventory within the next 60 days.

I think the way search warrants work is, if the police/FBI can show probable cause to a judge, they have the right to search. Any challenge comes after the fact. If the search was improper, the evidence is excluded. Trump's position was that the review for privilege should have been done by an independent party, not the FBI or DOJ. That makes sense. What good is a privilege if same the government that wants to charge you with a crime gets to see the documents and decide if they are privileged? I think there is precedent for this. Let's see if the SCOTUS issues a stay. That will tell us a lot.

Thank you being so diligent with TCT postings, OP. I trust his opinion. Oops…does that make me a cultist? A boob? A Sundance-tard? Or maybe, I just know what strikes a common sense chord with me, after decades of observation and experience.

Re: #6 - Interesting question you pose. The founders were born under despotic rule by the British Crown and lived through the period where common Americans rose up and threw off, at great cost in lives, the strongest global military power of the time. I imagine they would be mortified by what serves as our elected officials throughout the spectrum of federalism. Perhaps they would be even more mortified at the apparent complacency of a populace that should know better than to depend on the pablum of rhetoric, while pinning all of their hopes for their future and that of their progeny on an individual, however capable, thus standing to lose those freedoms and liberties that were won with blood. Not even George Washington won a real military engagement all by his lonesome. His rag-tag, thread-bare Army and fledgling Navy prevailed under his leadership but those who fought and died pushed the tyrants from our shores and held them at bay for two centuries. I doubt they would sit around grousing about RINOs and establishment politicians.

In order to present an accurate record of events, it is important to remain focused on specifics. During the period from May, 2017, through April of 2019, Main Justice in Washington DC was split into two divisions. In one division there was the Special Counsel Robert Mueller team in control of everything related to DOJ and FBI activity around the 2016 election, with emphasis on the Trump-Russia headlines. This division handled 100% of everything that was sucking up the oxygen in Washington DC. The acquisition by investment managers BlackRock and Vanguard of ever-increasing shares in America’s public utility companies is setting off alarm bells from conservatives and progressives alike. In April, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) approved a request from BlackRock to increase its ownership up to 20 percent of a public utility’s voting shares without being deemed an “affiliate” and incurring the regulatory scrutiny and disclosures that come with that. To gain FERC approval, BlackRock and Vanguard promised they would be “passive” investors and not use their share ownership to influence management.

One thing I dislike immensely about republican punditry, specifically as it relates to internal dynamics, is their tribal narrative engineering. The example from Breitbart about President Trump’s discussion of the next speaker of the House is a case study. Take out Matthey Boyle’s woven narrative; and remind yourself that Boyle is writing from a position of DeSantis advocacy; read just the direct quotes from President Trump about the risk of House Speaker if the party doesn’t align to support Kevin McCarthy, and the position is pragmatic. Essentially, if not Kevin McCarthy, and the House vote is dependent on Democrat support, the result will likely be worse.

The question in the title needs, I believe, critical examination. Why DOES the Left hate Trump so much? The answer, as usual, can largely be found by analyzing history. But first. Do they hate him because the average price of a gallon of gas in his administration was far lower than under Biden? Is it because inflation was low (around 2%) and trending downward? Is it that the USA was energy independent and didn’t need to beg our enemies for oil, deplete our strategic oil reserve or sell it to China? Is it because black and Hispanic unemployment was lower than at any time in history?
