Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) voiced clear disagreement with former President Trump after he supported House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) as the next Speaker, saying Trump has not chosen the “best people” to work for him in the past.
“HR was not always his best thing,” Gaetz told the conservative network Real America’s Voice on Monday at a Turning Point USA conference in Phoenix.
Gaetz added that Trump chose a “parade of horribles” to serve in his administration.

Gaetz has been as effective results-wise as was Darryl Issa during the Obama Administration, and appears quite full of himself.

Gaetz, along with Reps. Andy Biggs (R-AZ), Bob Good (R-VA), Matt Rosendale (R-MT), and Ralph Norman (R-NC), have openly opposed voting for McCarthy as speaker but have not proposed a surefire plan for an alternative candidate who could receive the necessary majority of votes. Gaetz in the interview suggested Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), but Jordan is openly advocating for McCarthy to become speaker and laser-focused on chairing the House Judiciary Committee next year.

What Gaetz said is true, it wasn't a jab, and there's proof of what he said. We have to keep in mind that PDT is not a light-bringer; he's not Jesus; he's imperfect just like the rest of us. If he can't get stuff wrong, we've elevated him to something he can never be. Gaetz also said he can't wait to vote for PDT in 2024.

Re #1, for perspective, Issa was a giant compared to Gaetz, who sounds like a noisy juvenile. No portfolio. Just noise and flailing… And who are the other four midgets?

Amen, #3. Gaetz and anybody else can make these comments and so what? If it’s substantive I’ll take heed; if trivial i’ll ignore.
It’s the media that always wants war. Even in Ukraine. Of course as we are learning, the media is the snarling chihuahua of the domestic enforcement arm of the rogue state.

There is no good help in Washington, so it does not matter who Trump supports.

Agree, OP.
Everybody knows you can't get good service in DC, even if you ring for it---particularly where the hired help bears the Turtlemarx brand.

Re: #4 - I wasn't intending to disparage Issa so much as point out that his detractors on these pages were always complaining about his effectiveness. If Obama wasn't being perp-walked, his detractors were dissatisfied; however, Issa did a great job of exposing corruption, even though as a representative, he had no police powers. Gaetz only badmouthed Trump after he's detected a bit of Trump's blood in the water here lately, or at least a bit of the bloom off of Trump's reputation of being infallible. I'm not from California like you are but I don't automatically think McCarthy is a mini-McConnell just because a lot of repeated narrative
insists that he is just that. I've never been in knee-jerk agreement with Trump but find myself agreeing with him on the McCarthy issue.

Not a cheap shot when it’s true. His first cabinet was made up of swamp. SIL had way too much clout. And Fauci should have been fired. Hard to forget the clot shot promo and 6 trillion in additional debt. And no wall. I fear Kevin M will be very, very disappointing as speaker. He’s swamp. And if you don’t recognize it, you haven’t been paying attention. PS I still support Trump. He’ll get it better 2nd time around.

I support Gaetz and hope McCarthy is not elected Speaker. We are getting the full uniparty Rino threats, intimidation, and statements there is no one else. Biggs is someone else. Vote for him.

I would agree that hiring bad people was Trump's weakness. For example, he had John Bolton as his National Security Advisor. Bad choice. Bolton thinks midwestern boys should join the Army and go die while nation-building in some Godforsaken hell on earth.
Bad choice.

12, Trump isn't Jesus to anyone.
But he is the best President we've had since Reagan and the only one running who has proven he cares about this country.

Let's do the math
PDJT support Mitch McConnell - yes
Kevin McCarthy - yes
Rona McDaniel - yes
Mitt Romney - yes
Jeff Sessions - yes
Mad Dog Mattis - yes
Jared & Ivanka - yes
and on and on
PDJT was played hugely

I dont know anything about Gaetz but he's right on this one. As much good as Trump did and may still do, he's horrible at picking staff. The communists and globalists had him surrounded with their own people all the time. He fell for it and keeps falling for it. A little more self awareness in that department would help him a lot.

After this guy announced a few years back that he was looking at running for the US Senate in Alabama while serving as a Congressman in Florida, I knew he had a major malfunction. This confirms it.

Re #8, not parochial about California politicians. We have had many good Republicans over our history, alrhough few here have any recollection of anyone other than Ronald Reagan. I have come rather latterly to McCarthy, who is not flashy but seems more solid than he is being given credit for. Just survng in a governmental chamber dominated for too many years by a Nancy Pelosi is a noteworthy achievement but he has done more than that. This is not a time for playng into crafty Dem hands by having a media event like a floor fight which woull only further divide the already divided Republicans. It is time for this new Congress, under a seasoned leader who knows the ropes, to get things done. Does anyone really believe that Andy Biggs would do that? Seriously? Put him against a beige wall and he disappears. Even now he needs wouldbe firebrand Gaetz breaking the waves for him.
You just cannot stomp your feet and whine “I don’t want McCarthy” when you don’t have anyone else who is a superstar to offer in his stead. Any of those who were being touted have also declared THEIR support for McCarthy. Time for pragmatism rather than blind emotion. We could lose again bigly if we let the House victory go to waste. Could happen

Jesus? Seriously? Amazing how the trolls find this forum during every election. Mercifully there are enough of us who have been around long enough to know them when we see them. And they do have a definite tell.

More whinng about PDJT “hiring” or supporting bad people.
For those with a memory lapse, he was a total Washington newcomer. He didn’t have years of political supporters and connections to pick from nor did he have really trusted advisers in the DC arena. And it is an arena. He relied on such as Condolleeza Rice, who reportedly came up with Mattis and McMaster, two notable flops.
In short, he had no personal experience that allowed him to tap wnnners when he had to be up and running immediately after a brutal election.
How quickly we forget. How quickly we rank amateurs turn tail and make a run for it.
