First lady Jill Biden met with students, teachers and business leaders in the Chicago area Monday to kick off National Apprenticeship Week, highlighting education as a nonpartisan “American issue.”
“Education has always been about jobs. And it isn’t a red issue or a blue issue. It’s an American issue,” Biden told a packed audience of more than 200 people at the Loop office of Aon, the global professional services firm. “And everyone has a role to play.”
Biden was joined by Education Secretary Miguel Cardona, Labor Secretary Marty Walsh and Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo. They spent the day highlighting apprenticeship opportunities in high school and at the community college level.

In the first school board election since the Loudoun County School Board made national news regarding critical race theory and its attempted rape cover-up, conservative candidate Tiffany Polifko unseated the liberal incumbent.
Polifko became the projected winner against incumbent Andrew Hoyler on Monday evening after outstanding ballots were counted.
Last week, Polifko also led Democrat Nick Gothard by 135 votes — who came in second and has conceded — in a tight three-way race.
Polfiko ran on a pro-parent platform, while Gothard was supportive of many of the school board’s recent controversial measures that cut parents out of the process.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen announced Monday that he had tested positive for coronavirus just two days after meeting with President Joe Biden and other world leaders at the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
The prime minister announced the news via his Facebook page, noting he was not experiencing symptoms but had tested positive after traveling to Indonesia for the G20 summit.
Hun Sen hosted the summit of world leaders just two days ago.
Biden and Hun Sen spent a great deal of time together during the summit, sitting next to each other at the gala dinner, greeting each other with a close handshake, and spending time together during a bilateral meeting.

Democratic Secretary of State Katie Hobbs has defeated Republican Kari Lake in Arizona's race for governor, NBC News projected Monday.
Hobbs' victory is key for Democrats in a presidential battleground and a rebuke to a prominent election denier — though the closeness of the contest left the result up in the air for nearly a week. A record number of early ballots were dropped off on Election Day in Maricopa County, officials said, which had to be processed in a more time-intensive manner that includes signature verification. Elon Musk broke the news to Twitter employees on Sunday that there will no longer be free staff lunches at the company’s San Francisco headquarters because they were allegedly costing a whopping $400 a meal since “almost no one” was in the office.

Musk took to Twitter on Sunday in response to The New York Times reporting that Twitter employees would have to start paying for their own lunches, just like everyone else does.

Allies have openly pleaded with the former president to hold off until the makeup of next year's Congress is fully decided next month, on the heels of a poor midterm election performance by Republicans.

The United States' men's national team have made a huge statement at the World Cup in Qatar by redesigning their crest to incorporate the rainbow flag, in a bid to show solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community.
The tournament, which starts on Sunday and sees the US play their opener against Wales on Monday, has been hugely controversial in its build-up, given Qatar's human rights record and attitude to homosexuality.
As recently as this month, a Qatar World Cup ambassador told a German TV broadcaster that homosexuality was 'damage to the mind', and it remains illegal to be gay in the conservative Muslim country.

Following the dismal midterm showing, there’s a lot of blame to go around. While I can and will sum up the issue, I want to focus more narrowly on the way in which the entire Republican machine is turning from Trump, who is now anathema, to Ron DeSantis, who is the new god. Considering that we still have a long time before the primaries and then the 2024 election, this kind of decision-making is premature and dangerous—and that’s why we’re being forced into it.

The day is coming–rather soon, I think–when the current mania for drugging adolescents and carving up their bodies will be viewed with horror as one of the great crimes of our century. The costs of the “trans” fad have already become evident, to the point where the New York Times wants to position itself somewhere in the middle.
The Times story is headlined: “They Paused Puberty, but Is There a Cost?” Good question! The subhed: “Puberty blockers can ease transgender youths’ anguish and buy time to weigh options. But concerns are growing about long-term physical effects and other consequences.”

President Joe Biden met with Chinese dictator Xi Jinping on Monday, but there was no public mention of Chinese-manufactured fentanyl, a scourge in the United States.
China provides fentanyl to Mexican drug cartels, who in turn smuggle it into the United States, where it has a devastating impact on communities across the nation.
More than 100,000 Americans died from drug overdoses in one year, according to the Centers for Disease Control, nearly two-thirds of them linked to fentanyl.
Biden has acknowledged the problems of fentanyl in American communities but has failed to make it a significant priority for his administration.

Six Republican candidates lost in the general election on Tuesday after Democrats spent an estimated $40,250,000 boosting them in the GOP primaries.
The Democrats’ primary strategy, which was mocked by many Republicans at the time, turned out to be a successful defense against the Republican Party on Election Day. The strategy took advantage of Republican disunity upon which type of GOP candidate should be supported by the Republican Party in the primary up to the general election. Former President Trump’s waning appeal to moderate voters in battleground races appeared to also be a factor.

We’re now in the midst of intense generational warfare, as ambitious upstarts seek to push out their elders. It’s not the first time that’s happened. The pathbreaking feminist Betty Friedan, at age 67, once told me that she found the age mystique presented a more formidable bias than the feminine mystique. But surely, regardless of ideology or politics, few doubt that Speaker Nancy Pelosi, at age 82, is still at the top of her game, or believe that they could outfox 80-year-old Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. Tuesday’s mini red wave here only scratches the surface. With the Senate officially back in Democratic Party hands and major governorships lost, Republicans could use some good news. The election has been an unmitigated disaster, with one of the best electoral environments in decades being blown in spectacular fashion. But, while dooming is more than warranted, I can finally bring some merciful good news regarding the House of Representatives. Nothing is official yet, but three major signs on Sunday evening, including a call after a ballot dump in Arizona, appear to make a GOP victory in the House inevitable. The three seats mentioned above were absolutely crucial for Democrat chances of retaining the House.

Less than a week after Democrats "won" most of the midterm election, something pretty weird is going on in various Democrat power centers, in a curiously counterintuitive pattern of acts and weather balloons:
Joe Biden forced his wokester Customs and Border Protection commissioner, Chris Magus, a man of open borders with no shame, to resign, in a tussle of sorts over whether he was to resign or be fired. Politico had reported that he had "lost interest" in enforcing the border and dozed off at meetings, which is pretty much the Biden modus operandi, a knock-on act emanating from the fish that stinks

On January 6 Pence, who refused Trump's demands to overturn the 2020 election, was inside the Capitol when it was breached. The mob erected a gallows with a noose outside the building, and Pence was at one point only 40 feet from the invaders.

Michele Swinick was an election judge in Maricopa County on election day last week. Following the election Michele stepped forward to discuss what she experienced in Maricopa County on Election Day.
Michele worked at a center in a heavily Republican district. According to Michele, the tabulators worked perfectly well the night before the election. Then on Election Day they quit working. Only 1 in 10 ballots were accepted through the tabulators. The officials were told to put the defective ballots into a different section called “Door 3.”

President Donald Trump was the only president who “understood truths” and had the “best interests” of the American people and American dream in mind, according to Academy Award-winning actor Jon Voight, who claimed only Trump could “stop this swamp, this deceit and injustice,” as he called on viewers to “pray” for the former president to “return to the presidency.”
The two-minute clip posted on Sunday and titled “Wake up America,” begins with the Hollywood legend declaring it his “great honor” to say “God bless America.”

US President Joe Biden and Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping shook hands at the start of their high-stakes summit in Bali, Indonesia on Tuesday.
Biden and Xi are among the heads of state attending the G20 summit in Bali, Indonesia, from November 15 to 16. Having met multiple times as vice presidents of their respective countries, their meeting on the sidelines of the event is their first in person as leaders.
Footage showed the two presidents greeting one another in front of the international press, posing for photographs inside a conference room before sitting down across from each other with large entourages of interpreters and senior advisers.

A federal judge has reversed a Biden Administration rule that directed the Department of Health and Human Services to increase access to sex change surgeries and hormone therapies, including to children, in a Friday ruling.
Biden’s HHS said in May 2021 that it would interpret a section of the Affordable Care Act, which bars doctors from discriminating on the basis of sex, as covering sexual orientation and gender identity. Two doctors represented by the America First Legal Foundation brought a class action lawsuit against the Biden administration after the HHS took the action, arguing that the rule would interfere with their ability to properly practice medicine.

ig Apple Mayor Eric Adams lambasted Democrats for having the “wrong attitude” when addressing top voter concerns in an op-ed Sunday — after months of blaming fears of rising crime on “perception” and declining to take Gov. Kathy Hochul to task over the hot-button issue.
“New York is the safest big city in America, but this statistic means nothing to a mother mourning a child lost to gun violence,” Adams wrote in USA Today, contradicting his past insistence that the stats show crime fears are mostly about “perception.”

On Sunday, five days after “Election Day,” Americans still didn’t know which party will have a majority in the House while two states were waiting to find out who their next governors will be. Even the BBC has been wondering “when will we know who won.” Have the delays been caused by incompetence or malign forces? Surely both, but it’s the latter that has had the biggest impact.
Forty-two years ago, on the evening of Nov. 4, 1980, the day of the election, President Jimmy Carter conceded to his Republican challenger Ronald Reagan at 9:50 pm Eastern Standard Time. Eight years later

I’ve seen a lot of rationales being tossed around for why the Republicans didn’t win more despite what all the polls and data points suggested.
I must confess, I’m not particularly satisfied with any of the answers I’ve seen. Yes, could some candidates have been better? No doubt. But Democrats got John Fetterman in and even voted for a dead man. So let’s not even pretend the quality of the candidate or even being alive truly matters. If you voted in Fetterman, it’s all based on wanting power for your party, no matter what.

With the House race remaining uncalled, discussions have emerged on both sides of the aisle regarding who should be the next speaker.
On the right, the discussions have naturally centered largely around current House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, a Republican.
But on the left, the discussions have centered around someone else altogether — outgoing Rep. Liz Cheney, also a Republican, albeit one who just got voted out of office this election cycle (not that House rules require the speaker to be in Congress).
The idea appears to be the brainchild of Jennifer Rubin, a Washington Post columnist who for most of her career was a staunch Republican, but who completely flipped positions

The Hill is out with a column from an apparent left-winger who’s proposed that President Joe Biden make California Gov. Gavin Newsom the president.
According to Douglas MacKinnon, a political and communications consultant who worked in the Reagan, H.W. Bush, and Bush administrations, all it’d take is for Biden to pull off some bizarre, potentially unconstitutional shenanigans.
“In one scenario, Biden could ask [Vice President Kamala] Harris to resign and replace her with Newsom, who then becomes the heir apparent for 2024.

On Tuesday morning, The Gateway Pundit reported that when polls opened in Maricopa County at 6 am on Election Day, voters were told that the tabulators were not working. This was happening across Maricopa County and resulted in long lines and voters being told to go to another location to vote.
Katie Hobbs is the current Secretary of State in charge of elections.
Instead of tabulating their ballot directly, voters were also told to put their ballot into a box under the tabulator so that their ballot may be tabulated at a later time

I wrote earlier about the dustup between Sen. Ed Markey (D-WA) and Elon Musk but there are a few more points that I wanted to hit on.
Markey blamed Musk for a Washington Post reporter impersonating Markey with a fake account with a blue check mark. Now, I wrote about some of the confusion created by the Twitter Blue subscription, by people getting blue checks by paying for the service. Yes, that created some questions and Musk suspended the service to work out the kinks and reports are that it will likely be coming back next week.
While Markey wanted to blame the impersonation on Musk,

Is the gubernatorial race in Arizona over? Not quite, but the fat lady is warming up. After four straight days of promises from certain analysts that heavy Republican ballot drops were going to arrive and save the day, Sunday’s results were again underwhelming.
While Republican Kari Lake did win the overall vote in the Maricopa County (the largest and most important) batch, it wasn’t by the margin she needed to eliminate the gap. (Tweet) When you look at the outstanding ballots, it’s very unlikely that enough votes for Lake exist to put her over the top. Deep blue Pima County still has 38,000 left while Maricopa County has 94,000.

Republican Lori Chavez-DeRemer won a critical U.S. House seat in Oregon necessary to win the majority over Democrats.
Called by the Associated Press on Sunday, Chavez-DeRemer won her race in Oregon’s 5th U.S. Congressional District, beating out Democrat Jamie McLeod-Skinner. Per the Associated Press (AP):
Chavez-DeRemer’s victory makes her the first Latina congresswoman from Oregon, a distinction also sought by 6th District Democratic candidate Andrew Salinas. That race remained too early to call.
The district was previously held for seven terms by moderate Democrat Rep. Kurt Schrader and was targeted by the GOP, which saw the 5th as vulnerable after the long-time incumbent’s primary defeat

President Joe Biden on Sunday morning welcomed holding on to the Senate but said he was now focused on the final race in Georgia, in the hopes that Democrats could win one more seat and extend their power.
'It's always better at 51 because we're in a situation where you don't have to have an even makeup of the committees,' he told DailyMail.com. 'And so that's why it's important mostly. 'But it's just simply better. The bigger the number, the better.' Biden took time out from international diplomacy to talk to reporters about domestic politics at his luxury hotel in Phnom Penh, Cambodia

White House adviser Anita Dunn appeared on some Sunday morning political shows to tout the success of Democrats in the midterm elections. Her message was that because the Democrats have majority control of the Senate after the results of the race in Nevada were called yesterday, control of the senate is “hugely consequential” for Biden’s success in the coming two years.
“He believes that at the end of the day, there are going to be things that Republicans and Democrats can work on together as they did over the last two years,” Dunn said in an interview with “Face the Nation,” referring to the president. “Control of the Senate is hugely
