Elon Musk assured Twitter's advertisers on Thursday that he will not allow the social media platform to turn into a "free-for-all hellscape" following the closing of his pending $44 billion acquisition. "Twitter obviously cannot become a free-for-all hellscape, where anything can be said with no consequences!," Musk said in a lengthy statement entitled "Dear Twitter Advertisers." "In addition to adhering to our laws of the land, our platform must be warm and welcoming to all, where you can choose your desired experience according to your preferences." He said that his Twitter acquisition will ensure civilization has a "common digital town square, where a wide range

The 3rd from last paragraph references a WSJ article published this a.m.. That WSJ article's 3rd paragraph from the top is specific to Musk's reinstatement of Trump's account and the threat of ad buying agency GroupM's 'blue chip consumer brand clients' pausing all their ad buying on the platform if Trump returns. None of the consumer brands were named for some reason.

Ad buyers want eyes on their products. Behind the scenes they are desperately hoping Trump does return to Twitter because that means eyes. Bigly.

The lefties are saying they’re gone when this deal goes through and the righties are saying just get rid of the bots. Joetatoe’s tweets get thousands upon thousands of likes in no time at all and that just cannot be true. Shadow banning is also a thing where it looks like a tweet has been made but no one see’s it. I enjoy Twitter cause I can speak my mind and no one knows me. Kinda like here but at a faster pace. I do learn more on this site and definitely the smarter people come here.

There are places on the net that ARE free for all hellscapes, for those that want them. At first some of the posts are disturbing and will bring nightmares, but after a while you learn to scroll past all that and just stop on what interests you. Dont need big daddy government (or big tech) protecting us from being offended.

The increased cost of living is taking its toll on seniors in the United States. Persistently high inflation has caused essentials such as food, gasoline and home utilities to eat into Americans’ paychecks. And the demand for housing, an issue predating the pandemic, has only increased, making it more difficult to secure affordable living spaces. But the economic squeeze in the United States has been felt more acutely by seniors who are on fixed incomes and are looking to age in place. Older adults are facing uncertainty amid major life changes, and like millions of others, they are again looking for roommates to split costs.

The Edinburgh Evening News is reporting that the UK government has developed its plans for dealing with the energy crisis this winter, and it is reminiscent of the rationing from World War II. It has been known for quite a while that rationing was likely, but the plans for how to implement it have been finalized. Britons should prepare to lose electricity to their home for as little as 9 hours a week (in 3 hour time blocks) to as much as 45 hours a week (15 three hour time blocks). In the worst case the grid could shut down entirely, providing electricity to only emergency services and other vital industries.

At newspapers, obituaries are typically written in advance. The Washington Post had plenty to work with when the death of Lucianne Goldberg happened, but instead of remembering good, or at least balancing their summary, they selectively chose to remember the great muse of the right, Internet pioneer, and accomplished woman from a time when women weren't allowed much accomplishment, by printing only cherry-picked tales of dubious sourcing that made her look phony. It was garbage. It stood in stark contrast to the insightful and warm-hearted tweets that overwhelmingly were the consensus on Twitter, from wildly different parts of the Internet spectrum.
