Amid the finalization of Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter, former president Trump, who was permanently banned from the platform in January 2021, said he will be staying on Truth Social, the social media company he created, even if his old account gets reinstated. He called Truth a “better” and “safe” alternative to Twitter that feels “like home” in an interview with Fox News Friday. Trump applauded Musk for buying Twitter, saying: “I like Elon and I wish him a lot of luck. I hope he does well with it.” Acknowledging the influence he once commanded on the site, Trump said, “I don’t think Twitter can be successful without me.”

Just heard a rumor via reliable sources that Trump may announce for the Presidency just BEFORE the Nov. election, thus sopping up all the attention and turning off the Independents and any Republican voting Democrats. He will kill the election just like he did in Georgia when he urged Republicans not to vote because he didn't like Kemp etc. If this happens that is IT for us.......beyond disgusted at the LOOK AT ME and the potential damage. And I am a conservative Trump voter and contributor who probably gets 15 texts per day from him, his family et al. I don't care how qualified the man is......this destructive narcissism is just too much to handle!!!!!!

I sure hope #3 is wrong. Agree it would screw the pooch with some voters favorable to Pubbies now. Wait until after the new Congress is sworn in. He could wait until next spring and it won't affect anything unless another 'Big Dog' announces, it which case he would have to commit one way or another quickly.

But a Trump proxy, or many Trump supporters, could post his thoughts from Truth Social on Twitter with the same effect. Continuing with my thoughts re:#3 - as an unabashed member of the 'Trump Revenge Tour With Extreme Prejudice 2024' team, I want Trump to hold his tongue ala his intentions until next year. Now is the time for him to put his money and energy into this election.

That’s SO Trump; he’s a competitor and now that he’s got his own social media platform he wants it to be better than Twitter, to make more money and get more subscribers. He is ever the competitor.

Elon Musk ordered company-wide layoffs at Twitter on Saturday, according to a report from The New York Times. It’s unclear how many workers will be affected by the purported job cuts, but sources tell the NYT that some departments will be affected more than others. Previous reports indicate Musk wants to cut down on Twitter’s workforce by 75 percent, although he reportedly told employees otherwise when he arrived at the company’s headquarters carrying an actual sink on Wednesday. Twitter currently has about 7,500 staff members, and as noted by the Times, some managers have been asked to come up with lists of employees to let go.

Pummeled by cost of living, seniors are

The increased cost of living is taking its toll on seniors in the United States. Persistently high inflation has caused essentials such as food, gasoline and home utilities to eat into Americans’ paychecks. And the demand for housing, an issue predating the pandemic, has only increased, making it more difficult to secure affordable living spaces. But the economic squeeze in the United States has been felt more acutely by seniors who are on fixed incomes and are looking to age in place. Older adults are facing uncertainty amid major life changes, and like millions of others, they are again looking for roommates to split costs.

At newspapers, obituaries are typically written in advance. The Washington Post had plenty to work with when the death of Lucianne Goldberg happened, but instead of remembering good, or at least balancing their summary, they selectively chose to remember the great muse of the right, Internet pioneer, and accomplished woman from a time when women weren't allowed much accomplishment, by printing only cherry-picked tales of dubious sourcing that made her look phony. It was garbage. It stood in stark contrast to the insightful and warm-hearted tweets that overwhelmingly were the consensus on Twitter, from wildly different parts of the Internet spectrum.
