Pummeled by cost of living, seniors are

The increased cost of living is taking its toll on seniors in the United States. Persistently high inflation has caused essentials such as food, gasoline and home utilities to eat into Americans’ paychecks. And the demand for housing, an issue predating the pandemic, has only increased, making it more difficult to secure affordable living spaces. But the economic squeeze in the United States has been felt more acutely by seniors who are on fixed incomes and are looking to age in place. Older adults are facing uncertainty amid major life changes, and like millions of others, they are again looking for roommates to split costs.

My wife and I lived well below our means and saved and invested to avoid this in our old age. We took the grasshopper and the ant fable to heart. Best wishes for those struggling, but this is avoidable.

There has been a large increase in the number of people living in their cars, under bridges, in their trucks, and RV's parked along the streets. There is no water, sewer, or electricity. Texas is swamped with millions of illegals with no money, place to live, or a job. Texas population increased by the size of Houston this year, with 2 months to go. We only hear about the homeless, when there is a Republican in office. The country would be better off, if Putin caused Biden to have to resign.

They can thank the dems for this problem that is happening in the face of Brandon claiming that things aren't that bad. Yellen "apologizes" for not seeing inflation bearing down on the country like a raging bull but minimizes the impact as if it it were leaving a 10% tip instead of 15%. The dems are trying to scare seniors about false Social Security and Medicare cuts the Republicans are going to make. Well, this impact and the cuts in their retirement investments are REAL, happening NOW, and courtesy of the DEMS! The dems who have NO understanding of how monetary policy works and spend like drunken sailors triggering rampant inflation. Do you think that Social Security system can keep up with the 8+% COLAs that have been triggered by Brandons wild spending? There were already concerns about the solvency of SS. Raging inflation is making it worse. Dems are who the seniors should be scared of. Now.

I could use a roommate to help pay bills. She must be at least 18 years old. She does not need to be Swedish. Any Scandinavian will do.

The attack on Paul Pelosi, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband, has dominated the news the last few days. Questions still remain about how David DePape, a nudist protester with a convoluted political history, got inside the house, but what appears fairly clear is that the assailant had a drug-induced psychotic break. Naturally, though, the easy answer isn’t the one the left wants. Instead, they want to pretend that Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy making a joke a year ago is what actually “radicalized” DePape because everything must be stupid. CBC News anchor Margaret Brennan toed that line on Sunday, losing her mind because the GOP refuses to concede the election to Democrats nine days

This time, a 5-0 lead was more than enough for the Houston Astros. A day after allowing the Philadelphia Phillies to come back to win 6-5 in extra innings, the Astros took care of business in Game 2, winning 5-2. Framber Valdez went 6.1 innings, giving up one run and striking out nine, while Houston led off the game with three straight extra-base hits, a first in World Series history. An Alex Bregman two-run home run added some insurance, but Houston was in control of this game from the first pitch. Here are the best sights and sounds from Game 2 of what is now a tied 2022 World Series.

OMG, it's happening! A few moments ago, less than 24 hours after Elon Musk took over as Chief Twit of Twitter, a fact-check has been placed on one of Joe Biden’s @POTUS tweets because… he’s lying. Biden tweeted, “Let me give you the facts. In 202, 55 corporations made $40 billion. And they paid zero in federal taxes. My Inflation Reduction Act puts an end to this.” Not so fast, homie. Twitter took the opportunity to add context that said, “Out of the 55 corporations the tweet referenced only 14 had earnings greater than $1 billion and would be eligible under Biden’s tax law.” LOL. Elon Musk ordered company-wide layoffs at Twitter on Saturday, according to a report from The New York Times. It’s unclear how many workers will be affected by the purported job cuts, but sources tell the NYT that some departments will be affected more than others. Previous reports indicate Musk wants to cut down on Twitter’s workforce by 75 percent, although he reportedly told employees otherwise when he arrived at the company’s headquarters carrying an actual sink on Wednesday. Twitter currently has about 7,500 staff members, and as noted by the Times, some managers have been asked to come up with lists of employees to let go.
