Two Thursday opinion pieces, one from The New York Times and the other from The Washington Post, torched the Jan. 6 Committee as "wholly ineffective," "tedious" and done only for the sake of politics. The Washington Post opinion column likened the committee, which concluded its televised hearings Thursday, to an overlong church sermon still being preached while congregants are thinking about brunch or Sunday football. The Times guest essay claimed the committee is not shifting views about former President Donald Trump’s behavior and has acted too partisan to convince people the committee is defending democracy. The reason their efforts were so ineffective was because there's nothing there - the only person killed was an unarmed woman killed by a capital policeman, no legislator was harmed, no staffer was harmed, most of the people in the building just milled around and took pictures. For the record, they were invited inside by the capital police. What the committee's efforts did show is what besotted cowards our Congress is. I think their screeching about "insurrection" is that for the first time, they had to face the fact that a large percentage of the American public has no respect and even has contempt for them. Like teenaged girls obsessed with "popularity," most politicans can't stand the thought that they're not universally loved and admired. I wonder if Liz still thinks that trying to ruin Donald Trump was worth wrecking her Congressional career.

There was nothing to anything they've been "investigating" since summer of 2016. How many have there been, and nothing at all. I will say, it will be more likely they find abuse of office and mis-use of government funds by all those who've continued to try to find anything to "get" President Trump. Wouldn't even care if they don't prosecute or arrest anyone, just expose everything, that will do enough damage to them.

Investigators said Jayjon Burnett, of Queens, was riding a crowded A train heading to the borough's Far Rockaway-Mott Avenue station around 3:45 p.m. when he was shot in the chest. Police said it came after two groups of young people got into a heated argument, which escalated into violence. A new CNN analysis fretted that American voters might care more about the cost of their food than they do about the Jan. 6 hearings. Noting Thursday’s Consumer Price Index data which showed inflation reaching 8.2% in September, as well as a cost-of-living index at its highest level since 1982, CNN's Stephen Collinson noted polling has repeatedly reinforced that the economy is the top concern to voters heading into the midterm elections. The data included information about frozen potato products, as well as pork products, which have increased 10% and 5.5%, respectively. "While it would be too simplistic to say

Inflation clocked in worse than expected at 8.2% for the 12 months ending in September according to the consumer price index, bad news for the country’s economic health. The much-anticipated numbers reported by the Bureau of Labor Statistics on Thursday revealed that while it ticked down by one-tenth of a percentage point, inflation is still higher than anticipated and defying the Federal Reserve's aggressive interest rate hikes. Worse, "core inflation," which strips out volatile food and energy prices, rose sharply in September. On an annual basis, it rose to a whopping 6.6%, the highest since 1982. The Thursday morning report

Inflation at the wholesale level rose more than expected in September as prices for everyday necessities remain at a multi-decade high, squeezing businesses and millions of American households. The Labor Department said Wednesday that its producer price index, which measures inflation at the wholesale level before it reaches consumers, rose 0.4% in September from the previous month. On an annual basis, prices soared 8.5%. Those figures were both higher than the 8.3% headline figure and 0.3% monthly gain forecast by Refinitiv economists, a worrisome sign for the Federal Reserve as it seeks to cool price gains and tame consumer demand

With the November election just weeks away, Georgia Democrat Stacey Abrams is dealing with an unusual political problem. She has become a star on the national political stage. But in her own state -- where she has proved in recent presidential and Senate contests that she can get out the vote for Democratic candidates -- she is struggling to gain momentum for her rematch with Republican Governor Brian Kemp. One problem is tepid enthusiasm among a key segment of the Democratic base: Black men. One-third of Black men registered in Georgia haven’t voted in the past several elections, with pollsters

Publicly, the White House is putting on a strong face in responding to the new cuts. Biden

Fair Fight PAC has since raked in a considerable flow of cash from liberals around the nation who sympathized with her unfair treatment at the hands of the corrupt Republicans in Georgia or whatever. The 2022 midterm elections have brought some specific races into the spotlight, and one of them is in my home state of Georgia, where football great Herschel Walker is running a tight race against incumbent Sen. He may not have the silver tongue of some candidates — including Warnock, who uses his oratorical skills to advocate for policies that fly in the face of his pastoral duties — but Walker isn’t unintelligent.
