Can the GOP Accommodate Two Rock Stars?

Fresh from his deft Martha’s Vineyard gambit, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis flew into Kansas on Sunday to rally support for Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt, now running for governor against incumbent Democrat Laura Kelly. Saul Alinsky, the acknowledged master of forcing poseurs to honor their own policies, could not have done better than DeSantis. No political stroke in memory has succeeded in exposing liberal hypocrisy quite so effortlessly and effectively.

Ron was in Green Bay on Sunday night as well (although I would question the wisdom of doing a political event at 6 pm on a night when the Packers were playing at home at 7:20 pm) to support the Wisconsin Republican candidate for Governor.

DeSantis is great. He is also young and smart. In 2024 he will be Donald Trump's biggest cheerleader. He has plenty of time to move up the ranks, and he knows everything he has to gain, and even more so what he has to lose, if he challenges Trump instead of supporting him in 2024. Because of his loyalty in 2024, in 2028 DeSantis will get the full support of the MAGA voters as well as the full support (and lots of money) from Donald Trump himself. It's a win/win/win for Trump/DeSantis/the American people!!!!!!

Yeah, yeah, tell a leftist that the covid jab doesn't prevent covid and they'll say in a stupid nasaly tone, "The 'vaccine' is not supposed to prevent covid; it just means that you won't get as sick." The leftist media and pols will tell their idiot constituents that DeSantis is the new orange bad guy, and they'll believe them. If they haven't seen the hypocrisy of their betters by now, I'm not sure most of them ever will.

DeSantis has already pranked the media twice this week. First at Martha's Vineyard; Second at the Sussex County Airport, in a rural back 40 of Delaware, where they waited all day on the ramp for the flight that wasn't. It'll be great if he continues to ignore Newsom.

Olathe is just a few miles from my home, I wish I had known that this event was happening, I would have stood in line for certain. I'd support DeSantis just fine. I'd vote for him or Trump. If I had to choose between the two in a primary....that would be VERY difficult. Not sure how I'd go.

Nearly HOUR - long speech? Especially, following two other speakers? As much as we love Pres. Trump, our eyes glaze over after 20-30 minutes. A good speechwriter can boil down EVERYTHING that needs to be said in 30 minutes. Use the buzz phrases that get the cheers and applause and THANK the people for coming. Yes, Gov. DeSantis is on his way, but sir, unlike Pres. Trump, PLEASE be on time. Trump/DeSantis '24.

I don't know why this author mentioned President Trump, several times and somewhat dismissively. The rally wasn't for him nor was he any of the speakers. While I believe that Trump should disappear until the mid-term election is over I am not happy that supposedly conservative writers are determined to tear him down.

Should federal hurricane recovery aid be handed out based on need or based the race of the recipient? According to Kamala Harris, the answer is 'race,' and here's the proof: Vice President Kamala Harris said Friday that aid distributed in the wake of natural disasters like Hurricane Ian should be “based on equity.” “It is our lowest-income communities and communities of color that are most impacted by these extreme conditions and impacted by issues not of their own making—” Harris said before being interrupted by Priyanka Chopra Jonas

Civilization is fragile. It hinges on ensuring the stuff of life. To be able to eat, to move about, to have shelter, to be free from state or tribal coercion, to be secure abroad, and safe at home—only that allows cultures to be freed from the daily drudgery of mere survival. Civilization alone permits humans to pursue sophisticated scientific research, the arts, and the finer aspects of culture. So, the great achievement of Western civilization—consensual government, individual freedom, rationalism in partnership with religious belief, free market economics

Democrats have long harbored the illusion that they can control the weather and I may be starting to believe them. Joe Biden and his evil puppet masters sure are good at making dark clouds appear on the horizon. We began the month here at the Briefing by pondering whether the Republic could survive a rogue Department of Justice. Since my foray into politics, I have come to understand that our system comprises insiders and outsiders and that Donald Trump was the consummate outsider. He was opposed by the system on both sides of the political aisle. Admittedly, I counted myself amongst the opposition. It was only when faced with a choice of yet another Clinton, whom we were told held a 95% chance of victory, that I felt a throw-away vote for Trump was in order. To my surprise, the b@st@rd actually won. He wasn’t supposed to win.

Three deep-water explosions destroyed the Nord Stream pipelines under the Baltic Sea on Monday. While the MSM and governments reported “leaks” in the pipelines following sudden pressure drops to zero, Swedish seismologists knew better. One of the three explosions measures 2.3 on the Richter Scale of earthquake intensity, but this was no earthquake. It was explosion—like a gigantic undersea mine. Via Reuters: Bjorn Lund, seismologist at the Swedish National Seismic Network at Uppsala University, said seismic data gathered by him and Nordic colleagues showed that the explosions took place in the water and not in the rock under the seabed.

One favorite technique of mass-murdering communist dictators is using their country’s “justice” system to destroy their political opponents. This technique is needed when one knows that even when the vote is rigged one might not be able to beat that opponent at the ballot box. One cannot let the peasants get the dangerous idea that the opponent is popular with the people. Beria’s rationale could arguably be that that since everyone, no matter how upstanding, has done something illegal at some point in their life, one can eliminate anybody one wants while claiming the mantle of the selfless justice warrior by investigating relentlessly until one discovers

This past week New Orleans reclaimed the title of America’s deadliest city after seeing murders jump 141% over the last couple of years. In New Orleans, the murder rate is a staggering 52 per 100,000 people. That compares to the national average of 6.9, the highest it’s been in a quarter century, and the 50 per 100,000 in Venezuela, the most dangerous country in the world. If New Orleans were an outlier, it would be a shame; the fact that it’s not is a tragedy. Instead, New York, Chicago, Portland, LA, San Francisco, Philadelphia, and other American cities are part of the club.

Scientists fear they've found the next big pandemic threat — a virus that lives in monkeys in Africa. Simian hemorrhagic fever virus (SHFV) causes devastating internal bleeding and kills virtually every primate it infects. It hijacks the immune system, disabling key defense mechanisms and breaking the body down cell by cell. No cases have been detected in humans yet but it is 'poised for a spillover', according to US researchers. By developing tests and monitoring the virus now 'the global health community could potentially avoid another pandemic', they said. Experts at the University of Colorado Boulder are raising the alarm due to SHFV's 'compatibility… with humans'. In a lab study,
