This past week New Orleans reclaimed the title of America’s deadliest city after seeing murders jump 141% over the last couple of years. In New Orleans, the murder rate is a staggering 52 per 100,000 people. That compares to the national average of 6.9, the highest it’s been in a quarter century, and the 50 per 100,000 in Venezuela, the most dangerous country in the world.
If New Orleans were an outlier, it would be a shame; the fact that it’s not is a tragedy. Instead, New York, Chicago, Portland, LA, San Francisco, Philadelphia, and other American cities are part of the club.

Wait, that can't be true. A few years ago, New Orleans tore down all those evil old white-guy statues, and that was supposed to solve all of their problems (crimes, gangs, drugs, failing schools, massive poverty, etc, etc).
Are you telling us that it didn't work out that way?!?!?!?!? That their crime and murders have skyrocketed, the gang and drug problems are worse than ever, and the schools are failing worse than they were before (if that is even possible)?!?!?!?!? Gee, who could have seen that coming?!?!?!?!? //sarcasm off

There are places in Los Angeles best avoided (residents know these places), but the rest of the city is well worth an extended visit. New Orleans and most of Chicago are to be avoided completely.

Have to admit. I would have guessed that Chicago was America's deadliest city.
My brother visited New Orleans. He got lost and asked someone for directions. They started screaming death threats at him. He drove off. Has never visited the city since. The person he asked for directions is probably still screaming death threats. That is if they are still alive.
When did the crime wave start? When Antifa and BLM became active, and our government started looking the other way with regard to crime. Criminals are a constituency these days.

Since when is Salt Lake City, Utah a Midwestern city? I am surprised that it is in the list of 100 most crime ridden cities. It is run from top to bottom by left-wing Democrats.

Empty out the mental wards into the streets, and tell the inner city thugs that they won't even be held in jail if they violently assault someone, and guess what? More crime.
Any city that doesn't permit any normal citizen to arm themselves in their own defense is a place to be away from, far away.

Former mayor Nagan declared New Orleans a 'chocolate city' so the chocolate people have to do what chocolate people do, it's in their DNA. I warn naive tourist don't venture to New Orleans for Mardi Gras fun go to Lafayette Louisiana it's more fun and safer. I know I was born in Louisiana then moved away after 53 years. I hated rain and hurricanes along with its chocolate people being out of control.

In '77, fresh out of the Navy, I went with my USAF-retired father to New Orleans to get mandatory Yellow Fever shots prior to us shipping out on a Petrol Marine work boat out of Grand Chenier, La to São Paulo, Brazil to tow a deep water drilling rig back to the Gulf of Mexico. We parked in a civilized area of the city and decided to walk to the Carondelet Clinic and various government buildings in order to satisfy the passport/visa requirements. We found ourselves in the most run down and crime-ridden part of the city, which is where the maritime clinics were historically located; however, no one bothered us and we were able to get our business done and head back to Texas without incident. Today, I wouldn't even drive through New Orleans at 70 mph on I-10, much less attempt to walk through the worst part of town. I'd not want to have to stand trial there for defending myself.

Start carrying concealed weapons, with or without the government's blessing, and it will all end in a week.

Ask Biden and he will tell you with a straight face that the current national crime wave is being perpetrated by the extreme MAGA white Supremacists who are hiding in plain sight all over the country.

This can't be all bad. Suppose some criminal breaks into my house and I shoot him or her dead. The cops can't arrest me, right? I think I'm going to re-design my living room to look like a shooting gallery, with the front door as the target. I'm really getting into this . . .
