Arizona Teachers’ Union Push to Overturn
School-Choice Expansion Fails

Original Article

Posted By: Dreadnought, 9/30/2022 2:13:25 PM

The teachers’ union-backed campaign to overturn school-choice expansion in Arizona has failed due to a shortfall in signatures, the state’s secretary of state announced Thursday. Under the expansion of Arizona’s universal-voucher program, known as the Empowerment Scholarship Account (ESA), enacted in June, over one million K-12 public school students in the state will become eligible to receive vouchers to fund their attendance at private, charter, or home schools, up from the 11,000 students who are currently eligible. To subject the expansion to a referendum, the anti-school-choice advocacy group Save Our Schools Arizona had to collect 118,823 valid signatures.

Good news. May these "teachers' union initiatives" fail everywhere. The teachers' unions don't give a holy hoot about our kids.

The union tried to say they were taking money away from students which was a lie! All students were fully funded $17,000 and those who wanted to take a voucher actually get less $11,000 than the students whose parents chose to leave them in mediocre schools. Winning! Go Arizona, Go Kari Lake and Go Blake Masters!

Great news in Arizona. We are bringing School Choice to Oregon with 2 constitutional measures. We find out next week if the Secr of State will allow us to proceed and whether the AG will give us factually correct and impartial ballot titles. Fingers crossed. Please send prayers. Oregon K-12 students deserve the right to choose the school setting that meets their needs and aligns with the values of the family. EducationFreedomforOregon dot com

This is Huge. Teachers Unions all over the country have grown accustomed to bowling over the rights of parents. No more. Their overreach and focus on teachers is the reason that we can't Save Our Schools. The greatest country in the world needs to have the best students. We are woefully near the bottom.

All well and good. The next question regards curriculum controls and audits. How will the state define what must be taught for accreditation? And what will be done to support a nascent K-12 school expansion one might expect? I would suggest using the existing school properties as "incubators" for these private educational efforts. Arizona stands in a great position to eliminate government schools.

Regarding teachers' unions, whose ranks include yours truly, retired, I strongly favor collective bargaining. But the unions strayed far, far away from that function. They pretend to be "all about the children." They are NOT, never were, and it's not the function of the union. They are about the wages and working conditions of their members. When they pretend to be some saintly guardian of America's children they become insufferably arrogant and insular. And the dirty little secret is, a lot of them are not very bright, as in brick stupid. It was my experience that the flamboyant extremists* are among the least intelligent, and use their fervent commitment to whatever as a defensive shield against inquiry into their actual teaching skills. Take this one to the bank: These LGBQ+ zealots gripe about not being able to "answer questions" yada yada. What nonsense. Did they never field a question from a small child about whether Santa Claus was real? "Age appropriate" isn't just about sex. Weingarten is a lying disgrace. Probably the only thing to do is take your children out of any school her union has its hooks into.

Jennings Mocks: Libs Angry at Court Because

On Monday evening's edition of CNN Tonight, Republican political strategist and CNN commentator Scott Jennings did some well-deserved mocking of the leftist media's cries of illegitimacy when it comes to the institution of the Supreme Court. He chalked their constant kvetching to the fact that they're "just mad that they're not getting their way every time." Since the media is dominated by leftists, that's not surprising. For all their talk of democracy, the democratic institutions in the United States are only legitimate when they work at the left's behest.

With each passing day, the media narrative of a “Democrat comeback” ahead of the midterm elections drifts further and further away from reality. This week has been no exception. As we previously reported, according to even recent Democrat-friendly polls, there has been a marked shift back in the GOP’s direction on generic Congressional balloting and polling on party control preference, with Republicans surging ahead. In addition to that, on top of the woes Democrats have seen with Hispanic voters steadily abandoning the party over concerns about their obsession with wokeness comes news that Democrats are increasingly falling out of favor with black voters as well, and by just enough margins

The Supreme Court on Monday declined to hear a legal challenge to the Biden administration’s vaccine mandate for health-care workers at facilities that receive federal funds. The justices rejected an appeal submitted by the plaintiffs, including ten mostly Republican-controlled states, after a lower court declined to hear their petition. The vast majority of health-care workers nationwide, 10.4 million, are subject to the mandate, although there are medical and religious exemptions. In January, the court struck down President Biden’s vaccine requirement for private sector companies with 100 or more employees but it preserved the health-care-worker mandate pending litigation at the lower court level.

To this point, the US Senate race in Pennsylvania has taken top billing in election-related discussions. Republican Mehmet Oz had closed the gap with Democrat John Fetterman to make it a true toss-up as the latter’s health issues have started to weigh on the electorate. But there’s another race going on that is not only just as big but appears to be favoring the GOP in a way that could ultimately deliver control of the Senate. I’m talking about Nevada, where Republican Adam Laxalt is facing off against Democrat incumbent Sen. Catherine Cortez-Mastro. Sunday delivered another round of fresh polling, and Republicans are winning across the board.

He is suing, claiming that his privacy was violated and alleging wrongful termination. The letter is a brutal takedown, outlining how bad what Strzok did was and how much it hurt the reputation of the FBI, according to Bowdich.
