Perhaps the most memorable comment at the outbreak of World War I—or at least the one quoted in every history book—came from the British foreign minister Sir Edward Grey: “The lamps are going out all over Europe, we shall not see them lit again in our life-time.”
The first half of this statement suddenly applies again to Europe’s energy crisis that threatens a cold and dark winter ahead, and we’ll have to see if the lights of Europe come fully on again in the years to come. Simply put: Europe’s self-inflicted energy crisis is a lot worse than it looks. European nations are scrambling to backstop consumers from having to pay

Old Joe Biden said it during his ominous black-and-red speech on September 1: “Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic.” On Sunday, the twenty-first anniversary of the September 11, 2001, jihad terror attacks that killed nearly three thousand people, Chuck Todd on Meet the Press did his best to emphasize the alleged threat that Trump supporters pose to “our democracy,” by which Leftists always mean their own hegemony over the political process. Todd asked Vice President Kamala Harris: “Look, we’re at the twenty-first, um, marking, if you will, of the September 11th attacks. This was a foreign terrorist

At 75 years old, longtime New York Rep. Jerry Nadler, a Democrat, is far from being the oldest member of Congress, but he’s certainly well past his prime.
A Democratic staffer told the New York Post that Nadler, who serves as chairman of the powerful House Judiciary Committee, has earned a nickname from his peers: “Rock-A-Bye Baby.”
It is apparently a well-kept secret that the abrasive congressman falls asleep during meetings – frequently.
Citing a Zoom meeting of House Democratic committee chairs earlier in the year, the aide, who participated in the planning session, said Nadler fell asleep. No one woke him up; the discussion simply continued without him.

Senate Intelligence Committee chairman Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) said Sunday on CBS “Face the Nation” that domestic threats the United States is facing are worse than international terrorism threats.
Partial transcript as follows:
MARGARET BRENNAN: You know, 9/11 introduced to many Americans for the very first time, this sense of vulnerability at home, and it launched the global war on terror. I wonder how vulnerable you think America is now, are we paying enough attention to the Middle East and to Afghanistan?
WARNER: Well, Margaret, I remember, as most Americans do, where they were on 9/11. I was in the middle of a political campaign

BILLINGS, Mont. — Montana health officials on Friday made permanent a rule that blocks transgender people from changing their birth certificates even if they undergo gender-confirmation surgery. The move by Republican Gov. Greg Gianforte's administration comes just days before a court will hear arguments over the legality of a similar rule that's been in effect on an emergency basis since May. The ACLU of Montana has asked state Judge Michael Moses to strike down the emergency rule. Moses in April had temporarily blocked a 2021 Montana law that made it difficult for transgender people to change their birth certificate. The law

Seven of the 19 Islamic terrorists who hijacked commercial planes on September 11, 2001 (9/11), killing nearly 3,000 Americans, remained in the United States after overstaying their visas thanks to a wide-open loophole that continues to allow about 685,000 illegal aliens to stay in the U.S.
In total, all 19 terrorists arrived legally in the U.S. as 16 secured tourist visas and three obtained business and student visas. Eventually, on September 11, the terrorists executed attacks in New York City, New York, Washington, DC, and Pennsylvania that killed 2,977 Americans and have since left thousands more Americans dead with illnesses related to the attacks.

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen admitted on Sunday that a looming recession and higher gas prices are a 'risk' for the Biden administration in the coming months.
It's a stark departure from months of talking up the economy in spite of growing concerns from experts and lawmakers and decades-high inflation.
Some of the loudest warnings are coming from progressive Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who has said for months that Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell's interest rate hikes to bring down spending will plummet the country into a recession.

The head of state is set to go to the service at Westminster Abbey on Monday, September 19, along with dozens of other world leaders.
However, the world's most powerful politician faces the prospect of being asked to catch a coach service to the venue, after it was claimed attendees will be a banned from arriving in private transport.
Dignitaries will be made to arrive in escorted coaches and 'because of tight security and road restrictions', they will not be allowed to use their private state vehicles, it is reported.

Every day, news reporters, traders, and workers of all sorts the world over wake to do their work as they always have. Part of that requires that everyone pretend that life is normal, fixable, and more or less stable. All of this is temporary. It will come and go and really not be that bad. Strange, isn’t it? Human beings have a hard time adjusting to disaster, in their decision-making and even in their mindset. Reporters have to do their jobs as they are trained. Traders too. Everyone does. They please their bosses. They don’t sound alarms.

That Queen Elizabeth II passed away this week was a surprise only in the sense of the day it happened. Nothing against the Queen, who always seemed like a nice, lovely person, but she was 96. When someone is 96 years old the days are numbered. One day we might cheat death, or find ways to postpone it much longer than nature dictates currently, but that day isn’t today. So, sad as it is for family and friends of anyone who passes away at any age, surprise isn’t a word that leaps to mind to describe it.

U.S. military prosecutors are reportedly negotiating potential plea deals with 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four other conspirators imprisoned in Guantanamo Bay.
The plea deals may allow the five dependents to escape a potential death penalty, according to CBS. Mohammed is widely credited with being the architect of the 9/11 terror attacks. The other four defendants are Ramzi Binalshibh, Mustafa Ahmed al-Hawsawi, Walid bin Attash and Ammar al-Baluchi.
Attorneys for the defendants reportedly say they would be willing to enter a guilty plea in exchange for taking the death penalty off the table, as well as for getting treatment for alleged torture they experienced while in CIA custody.

When it comes to questioning the results of elections, there are two sets of rules that are unfairly applied to Democrats as opposed to everyone else in a country where unequal justice under the law has become the new normal.
To prove that point, one need look to Rep. Vicente Gonzalez of Texas who is so terrified of his Republican opponent in the upcoming midterm elections that he is falsely claiming that Rep. Mayra Flores “stole” her House seat by winning a special election in June, stunning observers by pulling it off in a district that has traditionally gone for Democrats, a race seen as a bellwether for November.

The White House is asking Congress for another $5 billion to bus, fly, and house the southern flood of economic migrants into Americans’ workplaces and housing. Any additional funding will accelerate the federal “cheap labor distribution [network] that too many politicians in Washington are willing to participate in,” said John Feere, a former homeland security official. He now works for the Center for Immigration Studies. The inflow of workers, renters, and consumers “benefits groups on both sides of the border—governments, human smuggling operations, and businesses,” he told Breitbart News. Joe Biden paid tribute to Queen Elizabeth II during a speech commemorating the September 11th terrorist attacks – and told Americans that they 'owe it' to victims and survivors to stand up for democracy.
The president also attempted to earn redemption points during the most unifying annual event in the U.S. after insulting all Trump supporters earlier this month by insinuating in a speech they are a threat to American democracy.
During remarks at the Pentagon on Sunday, just three days after Queen Elizabeth's death, Biden quoted the monarch by saying: 'Grief is a price we pay for love.'

There is a particular historical irony in the timing. On the same day King Charles III ascends the throne, previously Europe’s most isolated from consequence – yet loudest voice in chasing the catastrophic climate change energy policies, the British government is forced to reverse course on years of energy regulations and restrictions.
Britain’s new Prime Minister Liz Truss announced, “a new round of oil and gas licensing will come next week with more than 100 licenses issued. A moratorium on fracking will be lifted and planning permission can be sought where there is local support,” in an urgent emergency effort to lower energy costs for British citizens.

It is good to see at least one energy finance analyst at the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis, speaking commonsense. In an article by Clark Williams-Derry (snip), the author accurately outlines how significant U.S. Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) exports are driving up prices for American consumers.
The author accurately refutes the notion that exports do not drive-up domestic prices, by walking through the example of how natural gas prices dropped for U.S. consumers when the liquefied natural gas plant in Quintana, Texas [Freeport LNG] was temporarily shut down, blocking a portion of the export capacity. However, that facility is about to come back on-line and with increased

On the menu today: You may have heard about that Democratic county official in Nevada whom police have arrested on suspicion of murdering a reporter. But you probably didn’t hear about the Democratic campaign consultant in New Jersey who pled guilty to conspiracy and murder-for-hire earlier this year. And only those who closely follow politics are likely to have heard about the Democratic mega-donor from California who lured men into his apartment and injected them with methamphetamine in exchange for sex, leading to two fatal overdoses. I think we’re starting to see why some in that party were so enthusiastic about the notion of abolishing the police. Last month,

Murder is staring journalists in the face, now that a veteran investigative journalist, Jeff German of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, has been stabbed and killed in cold blood, allegedly by a Democrat politician.

A reporter present at a local press briefing with Las Vegas Sheriff Joe Lombardo Thursday sought to indict Trump for the crime.
“Sheriff, you said the murder of a journalist is especially troubling. Now is probably not the time to talk politics,” the unnamed female reporter began.

“Queen Elizabeth II has died aged 96.” So announced news programs the world over. Monarchs give their names to eras, labels that historians assign to stretches of collective memory. Elizabeth gave hers to nearly three generations; she became queen in 1952, when Harry Truman was still president. The unchanging label gave the illusion of continuity to a period of immense change. The Cold War, its hopeful aftermath and eventual collapse into new geopolitical rivalries — all the seas of trouble — were all encompassed by this single linguistic device. For decades she seemed permanent, and her passing is a sign of our own inherent mutability.

The motivation to head to the polls this November comes as Floridians are not happy with the direction of the country, 76 percent saying it is headed in the wrong direction. Joe Biden has failed the United States in so many ways, that it might be hard to tally them all up, from the debacle of the Afghanistan withdrawal that started his slide in the polls and cost Americans their lives, to opening the borders and making our country less safe. His latest perfidy was demonizing millions of Americans as “threats” to the nation in an unprecedented action–while inciting people against them–last week. The Republican Party has been trying for a long time to win over more minority voters with limited success. The minority vote is crucial to Democrats’ hopes of remaining in power, which is why they so desperately try to protect it with endless allegations of racism directed at the GOP. But the Democrats’ virtual monopoly on the minority vote is collapsing. Despite Democrats spending years branding Trump as a racist, his outreach helped bring minorities back to the Republican Party. Those efforts, combined with Joe Biden’s incompetence in the White House, could be the biggest threat to the Democrats’ chances in November and beyond.

Ever since Cain told Adam and Eve, “Yeah — what do you know, and how should I know where Abel is?” every generation spends its youth firmly convinced its conceptualizations regarding The Way Things Ought To Be are the sum total of all wisdom. With all the hubris of Bullwinkle preparing to pull a rabbit out of a hat, each generation proudly proclaims it possesses all the answers, so outta the way, old fogies; watch us save the world!
Every generation also learns, albeit 15 minutes too late,
