There is a particular historical irony in the timing. On the same day King Charles III ascends the throne, previously Europe’s most isolated from consequence – yet loudest voice in chasing the catastrophic climate change energy policies, the British government is forced to reverse course on years of energy regulations and restrictions.
Britain’s new Prime Minister Liz Truss announced, “a new round of oil and gas licensing will come next week with more than 100 licenses issued. A moratorium on fracking will be lifted and planning permission can be sought where there is local support,” in an urgent emergency effort to lower energy costs for British citizens.

A sane response to a crisis caused by the fools buying into the Climate Scam, and trusting in buying energy supplies from an enemy state....Russia. I believe that UK bought little or no energy directly from Russia, but much of the rest of Europe did, and that freed up supplies for UK. And all the while the Climate Scammers have been undermining the normal energy infrastructure and replacing it with smoke and mirrors, and ultra expensive, extremely unreliable "green" sources.
And these "green" energy sources prove to be NO energy sources much of the time.

Well you may not understand the implications of a hammer flying at your head, but at least you understand the implications after it hit your head.
Hopefully you don’t conclude hammers need to be banned.

Apparently the new PM is not a radical leftist like Biden’s handlers.

Thank goodness the opportunity of a new PM in my home country will instill bit of sanity into their ridiculous energy policies. Boris was neither here no there in policies and wanted to please everyone - big mistake. Trump called it when he said the Russian pipe line contract was a Yuuuuge Mistake for Europe. Maybe Germany will wake up!!

Yes indeed, OP, I doubt very much if we will hear King Charles and his son William mouthing off about climate change or other such nonsense. I remember even Her Majesty said she was proud of her family tackling those issues. So many fell for the rubbish which has brought the nation to an energy crisis!!

Hypocrites! They stifle oil exploration and fracking which increases an oil wells output. They then cause an energy crisis and now rescind their previous rules to bail them out. King Charles is an........well, you know.

The Greniee dimwits actually WANT energy consumption and standards of Western living go down. They define that as goodness. You can argue all you want that a side effect of that is reduced ability to defend yourself in today's world. But these are the Better Red than Dead crowd.

Fracking, in the USA where the trained people and infrastructure is already there, is pretty quick to bring on stream. But many of Brit oil leases are offshore in the hideously violent and cold North Sea, if those are where they are going to drill next.......five to ten years before a barrel of new crude shows up at markets.

If King Charles has an issue with increased oil production and franking, just remind him how much energy is used heating all of his castles.

The left's reasons for banning fracking quite literally don't hold water. Production casing or thick steel pipe around 9" in diameter is run from the surface to the production zone and, along with the larger diameter surface casing, is cemented in place to protect the fresh water formations, if any. A typical pay zone for fracking in the U. S is between a mile and two miles below the surface. The only instances where fracking resulted in a polluted fresh water aquifers is associated with the criminal negligence of wildcatters trying to save money by failing to set the appropriate surface and production casings as required by state regulators. The feds have no place in banning well stimulation as no well that I'm aware of perfectly splits the boundaries of two or more states, such that there is no interstate commerce involved until sold, if then. Offshore drilling and production does have federal regulations but not to protect what is known as fresh "ground water," as you have hundreds of feet and many tons of salt water from the surface of the sea to the point where the drill bit meets the sea floor. The whole purpose of fracking is to open up "tight," non-porous or impermeable formations and often involves high pressure pumping of sand or ceramic beads into the newly opened cracks in the formation to hold them open, improving production yield. A huge advantage of fracking is that it allows the exploitation of oil and gas from tight shale formations, like the Marcellus in NY and PA, previously not tapped due to the low inherent permeability of shale formations. Of course NY shut that down due to their politics.

The monarchy is only a figurehead. While past PMs would take advice from Elizabeth, future PMs are going to ignore the Royals, starting with Charles.
