Enough Already: Release the J6 Political Prisoners

"For here we are not afraid to follow truth wherever it may lead, nor to tolerate any error so long as reason is left free to combat it." That's Thomas Jefferson, the Father of the University of Virginia, describing his beloved institution's creed to English historian William Roscoe. I think it is also a fitting description of the American Thinker community, who often tussle with difficult stories because that is where the truth takes us. Several members of the community recently focused my attention on the plight of J6 political prisoner Jonathan Mellis, who has already spent nineteen months in the American Gulag for the "crime"

Thank you for the quotation from Thomas Jefferson, beloved and revered for what he did for this country. The J6 prisoners have been wrongly held by the DC judges and DOJ for almost 2 years, without trial or charges, and denied visitations from attorneys. What judge would tolerate such misconduct by prosecutors? The best we have gotten is from a Bush appointed judge that said 6 months ago that he was concerned that defendant's rights were being violated, but he did nothing to protect those defendant's rights. Add destruction of the judicial system to the things the left has destroyed. The law schools have been forever tainted for providing degrees to this type of lawyer. The legal profession should be forced to wear a mark of shame on their foreheads.

They should never have been held at all. Should have all been out on bail immediately, LOW bail or ORO. This is absolutely wrong, and how is it that no courts see this as wrongful imprisonment without trial?

It will be interesting to learn what was done to those men and women when they finally are free. So many of their rights as citizens have been taken away from them. Do their jailers know anything about our Constitution?

If Biden had half a brain, he would pardon all of them and order them released prior to the election in the name of unity. Not much of a chance of that happening.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A tiger is still believed to be missing in New Mexico, the state Department of Game and Fish announced Saturday. Authorities believe the tiger was illegally being kept as a pet. Department investigators believe the tiger – which is less than a year old and is believed to weigh between 30 and 60 pounds – is in New Mexico or a nearby state. Tigers, however, can grow up to 600 pounds, depending on the subspecies. Conservation officers from NMDGF obtained search warrants for two Albuquerque residences on Aug. 12 and, with assistance from federal, state and local law enforcement, served both warrants in the city’s south valley,

What do you do when your teacher is a pervert and no one will listen? You take matters into your own hands. According to a report in The Boston Globe, sixth graders, no less, at Davisville Middle School in Rhode Island had had enough of their teacher not only being cruel to the boys but also with the way he treated the girls. He leered at them, gave them pet names, and asked them to dance. He even allegedly asked one girl to take off her shoes and show him her toes. The unnamed teacher, who was also a coach, told the kids he had dealt with parents’ complaints before

Listening to Joe Biden give a speech always makes me feel a bit nauseated, so I try to read his speeches. The White House website, which does a good job of preserving his every official utterance, allowed me to read his remarks on Sunday at the Pentagon's ceremony observing the 21st anniversary of the day al-Qaeda terrorists attacked America. It was almost a decent speech, right up until the end, when he dragged in political correctness and partisan politics — and that spoiled the whole thing. Biden's speechwriters lack talent, and he is no orator. Nevertheless, three quarters of the "Remarks by President Biden at 9/11 Memorial Ceremony"

On August 8, for the first time in U.S. history, the Federal Bureau of Investigation raided the residence of a former president, Donald J. Trump. That home invasion invites another first for America: a sudden and thorough search of FBI headquarters, with bureau bosses and their lawyers barred from the premises and from contact with anyone inside. Under these conditions, a crack team of independent investigators, deploying the latest forensic and high-tech tools, could be turned loose on all FBI files and records. The first thing this team might uncover is recent FBI action in a high-profile whistleblower case. Back on February 21, 2020, Philip Haney,

Germany’s economy and climate minister has angrily lashed out at Angela Merkel’s party, accusing it of being responsible for “16 years of energy policy failure”. While the ongoing gas crisis across Europe gets steadily worse, political tensions in Germany appear to be growing, with the country’s economic and climate minister, Robert Habeck, angrily lashing out at his political rivals in the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), the party of former chancellor Angela Merkel. Despite having been warned by then-President Donald Trump that relying on Russia

On the menu today: You may have heard about that Democratic county official in Nevada whom police have arrested on suspicion of murdering a reporter. But you probably didn’t hear about the Democratic campaign consultant in New Jersey who pled guilty to conspiracy and murder-for-hire earlier this year. And only those who closely follow politics are likely to have heard about the Democratic mega-donor from California who lured men into his apartment and injected them with methamphetamine in exchange for sex, leading to two fatal overdoses. I think we’re starting to see why some in that party were so enthusiastic about the notion of abolishing the police. Last month,

“Queen Elizabeth II has died aged 96.” So announced news programs the world over. Monarchs give their names to eras, labels that historians assign to stretches of collective memory. Elizabeth gave hers to nearly three generations; she became queen in 1952, when Harry Truman was still president. The unchanging label gave the illusion of continuity to a period of immense change. The Cold War, its hopeful aftermath and eventual collapse into new geopolitical rivalries — all the seas of trouble — were all encompassed by this single linguistic device. For decades she seemed permanent, and her passing is a sign of our own inherent mutability.

Because most people don’t know a farmer personally anymore, everyone should realize that they don’t make piles of money producing our food. A good year can be followed by three bad ones, and 2022 has been a burden. Georgia Democrats are wringing their hands about the lackluster performance of their gubernatorial candidate, Stacey Abrams, in her long-anticipated rematch with incumbent Republican Gov. Brian Kemp. They kept their worries to themselves until the New York Times ran a story last Wednesday that highlighted complaints by local Democrats that she hasn’t bothered to reach out to crucial constituencies. It appears that Abrams, having been showered by obsequious media coverage since Kemp defeated her in 2018, was overconfident about her chances of beating him this year and took her base supporters for granted.

His latest remarks at a pro-abortion rally raise even more questions. He characterizes questions as making fun of the stroke he had in May, but his ability to perform the job is part of what people will be evaluated when deciding whether to vote for him. Casting it as “making fun of him” is trying to deflect from those legitimate questions. Fetterman has been wearing hoodies and neck coverings for some time.

Disney CEO Bob Chapek recently suggested that the “essence” of the Disney brand was misused in its opposition of parental rights in Florida, making the remarks months after the company went full groomer in opposing a ban on inappropriate discussions on sexual orientation and gender identity in kindergarten classrooms. Florida’s Parental Rights in Education law went into effect this year after several tumultuous weeks of far-left radicals mischaracterizing the bill, even falsely labeling it “Don’t Say Gay.” In reality, the law does not ban any phrase or word but, in part, bars woke classroom discussions on sexual orientation and gender identity in classrooms for children in kindergarten through third grade.
