'Not a protest': Lunch Bunch backs struggling
Gibson's Bakery

OBERLIN - The crowd milling around outside Gibson’s Bakery at midday Wednesday wasn’t there to protest. It was there to spend, spend, spend in hopes of keeping the 137-year-old business alive. “We didn’t want people to think we were demonstrating or rallying or anything like that,” said Mike Bokulich, a Navy veteran and founding member of the Lunch Bunch. In the past two years, the group has traveled to more than 90 restaurants around Lorain County and just outside its borders.[Snip]“We want to help Allyn and his mother. They’re slaving up there in the bakery…sweating like mad, trying to keep the business afloat,” Bokulich said.

Comments:

The core group, composed mostly of military veterans is, for the most part, a conservative group. Groups often consist of 20-30 individuals but about 55 gathered at Gibson’s Bakery on Wednesday. Mr. Boklich said the Gibson’s were “so gracious” when the group arrived, and that political affiliation doesn’t matter when trying to do “anything to help.” ~ May blessings be bestowed on these veterans and the Gibson family.

Maybe of they each threw a rock through a window at Oberlin College once a week, that might help, too.

I'd toss in a sawbuck or two to get a bus of conservative college students to take a trip to Gibsons each weekend.

Archie, three, and Lilibet, one, are expected to be officially made prince and princess in the near future as Charles has agreed to issue a Letters Patent to grant the titles. But following tense talks between the new King over recent days, the Sussexes have been left 'furious' that their children will not also get HRH titles. Legal Insurrection led the way on coverage of the Gibson’s Bakery v. Oberlin College case, from the initial November 2016 protests, through the lawsuit proceedings and trial (the only national outlet with a reporter in the courtroom every single trial day), through the first appeal, then through the Ohio Supreme Court refusing to hear the case.[Snip]Now that the case is over, we are honored to present a live online event on Thursday evening, September 15, starting at 7:30 p.m. Eastern, featuring Lorna Gibson (wife of the late David Gibson) and the Gibson’s Bakery lead trial attorneys, Lee Plakas, Esq. and Owen Rarric, Esq.

Meghan Markle publicly stepped out with Prince Harry, Prince William and Kate Middleton on Saturday to pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth II. The four were photographed viewing a massive sea of floral tributes laid outside Windsor Castle in honor of the late monarch. The outing marked the first time the two couples have all appeared in public together since Commonwealth Day on March 9, an appearance that was marked by awkward greetings and grim faces. We’re told it was William who extended the invite to his estranged brother and wife.[Snip]Earlier in the day, other royal family members gathered

After years of legal wrangling, Oberlin College has announced that, following the Ohio Supreme Court’s decision not to hear its appeal, it is beginning the process of paying in full the judgment against it for libeling Gibson’s Bakery and promoting a boycott. William A. Jacobson of Legal Insurrection, which has covered the case more closely than any other media outlet, announced the happy news: [Snip] Oberlin’s endowment reportedly is in the neighborhood of a billion dollars, so this sum--the original judgment plus interest, while painful, is not about to bankrupt it.

A federal judge in Florida has granted Donald Trump's request to have a special master review the documents seized during the raid on Mar-a-Lago – granting a key demand of the former president and tapping the breaks on the government's investigation. Judge Aileen Cannon approved Trump's motion to appoint a special master 'to review the seized property for personal items and documents and potentially privileged material subject to claims of attorney client and/or executive privilege.' [Snip] That grants Trump and his legal team a side benefit of stalling the fast-moving proceedings that have unfolded since the August 8 FBI search of Mar-a-Lago.

Oberlin College was shocked when it found out the Catholic-run health agency it chose to outsource for student health services is…Catholic. It’s always Oberlin College. Why is it always Oberlin College!? The Catholic Church urges natural family planning (which, after the experience, is relatively easy!) instead of artificial birth control. That includes birth control pills and tubal ligation (tying the fallopian tubes to stop ovulation).(Snip)...I find it impossible for people not to know the Church’s teaching on abortion, artificial birth control, sex, pregnancy, and gender.(Snip)NPR and Oberlin College ruin their argument by including the “workaround” portion in the article.

I build my whole life on words,  but I know that a message that goes unsaid can carry just as much weight as 1,000 words carelessly spewed forth in distortion. I found it telling over the past week since I wrote in this space last Sunday about Oberlin College bringing on a Catholic agency to run its Student Health Services(Snip) that Oberlin College’s only public response, to this paper, was to issue a statement claiming its actions had been “inaccurately characterized” in recent media reports.(Snip)The Chronicle requested a copy of any contract with Bon Secours that would outline whether the provider, which has long practiced under Catholic healthcare directives, had promised to provide contraception and gender-affirming care. Christianity has remained at the forefront of the nation's political and social conversations for centuries — but new research shows that could be changing. A new report by Pew Research Center and the General Social Survey published on Tuesday found that the large numbers of people in the U.S who practice Christianity are declining. The religion's demographic has been dwindling since the 1990s, the report said, as many adults transition to an identity of atheist, agnostic or "nothing in particular." In the early '90s, about 90% of people in the U.S. identified as Christians, the report said. In 2020, Christians accounted for about 64%

At least one future Disney “princess” may actually be a man.   Disney has hired drag queen Shea Coulee to play an unspecified role in its new Marvel superhero TV show, Ironheart. The show will also include Zoe Terakes, a “non-binary” actress. Ironheart tells the story of an Iron Man-like superhero. It will likely debut next year. The show isn’t the only Disney series promoting new gender identities. In another Disney show, Baymax, an animated transgender character appears. On previous occasions, Disney executives have announced a “not-so-secret gay agenda” and efforts to add “queerness” to children’s programming.Disney has a company pledge to make 50 percent of its onscreen characters sexual and racial minorities.
