Why is the Gibson Family Still Waiiting

Lorna Gibson writes at Common Sense: Will I Ever See the $36 Million Oberlin College Owes Me? “ “ “ When the jury found in our favor--they ruled that we were owed $44 million in damages (which was later reduced to $31 million)--relief washed over me. I thought we’d finally be able to move past this and get back to work. But after the verdict was handed down, David and I left Oberlin to seek treatment for his cancer at bigger hospitals in the South and in New York. We found out that the cancer had spread during the trial, and that we had no recourse.

The “Common Sense” article by Mrs. Lorna Gibson posted 9-2-22 at 1:00 AM: “Will I Ever See the $36 Million Oberlin College Owes Me?” ~~ Worthy of note, an article written by Abraham Socher published in the Wall Street Journal 9-1-22: “Gibson’s Bakery and Why I Quit Teaching at Oberlin”. Mr. Socher, a former professor of Jewish studies at Oberlin College, quit Oberlin College because of deans, illiberal deans.

I subscribe to Common Sense, and I went online to Gibson's Bakery website right after reading the article and bought a Gibson's Bakery ballcap. My way of expressing support for the bakery and disdain for odious Oberliners.

Gibson Bakery has not been paid because oberlin is a far lefty joint. They probably believe that they don't have to pay. years ago, we looked at a house to purchase in Oberlin. No way were we going to raise our family in that college town. We loved our kids!

On behalf of the Gibson family, an article written by Abraham Socher, a former professor of Jewish Studies at Oberlin College, is commendable, appreciated, and cuts to the chase citing a “commandment” written by poet W. H. Auden. FTA Excerpts: “Every year as Labor Day approaches, I think about meeting a new group of interested, occasionally brilliant students. And then I remember why I quit Oberlin College: DEANS. “In 1946, W.H. Auden delivered the Phi Beta Kappa poem to Harvard College’s graduating class. It ended with a “Hermetic Decalogue,” rules for humanist followers of the playful Hermes as opposed to the officious followers of Apollo. Auden’s 10 commandments begin: “Thou shalt not do as the dean pleases, Thou shalt not write thy doctor’s thesis On education, Thou shalt not worship projects nor Shalt thou or thine bow down before Administration. “That’s why I’m not going back to school: ILLIBERAL DEANS.” ~~~ https://www.wsj.com/articles/why-quit-teaching-oberlin-gibson-bakery-steal-deans-college-ohio-lawsuit-w-h-auden-oppression-campus-students-university-11662045107 Gibson’s Bakery and Why I Quit Teaching at Oberlin The Ohio Supreme Court upholds a $36 million legal judgment against the college. On Tuesday morning, Gibson should take his judgement down to his local sheriff and escort them to Oberlin's campus, where a public auction will be held at 11:00am to watch the building and all of Oberlin's assets go on the block. Do it.

A federal judge in Florida has granted Donald Trump's request to have a special master review the documents seized during the raid on Mar-a-Lago – granting a key demand of the former president and tapping the breaks on the government's investigation. Judge Aileen Cannon approved Trump's motion to appoint a special master 'to review the seized property for personal items and documents and potentially privileged material subject to claims of attorney client and/or executive privilege.' [Snip] That grants Trump and his legal team a side benefit of stalling the fast-moving proceedings that have unfolded since the August 8 FBI search of Mar-a-Lago.

Oberlin College was shocked when it found out the Catholic-run health agency it chose to outsource for student health services is…Catholic. It’s always Oberlin College. Why is it always Oberlin College!? The Catholic Church urges natural family planning (which, after the experience, is relatively easy!) instead of artificial birth control. That includes birth control pills and tubal ligation (tying the fallopian tubes to stop ovulation).(Snip)...I find it impossible for people not to know the Church’s teaching on abortion, artificial birth control, sex, pregnancy, and gender.(Snip)NPR and Oberlin College ruin their argument by including the “workaround” portion in the article.

I found it telling over the past week since I wrote in this space last Sunday about Oberlin College bringing on a Catholic agency to run its Student Health Services(Snip) that Oberlin College’s only public response, to this paper, was to issue a statement claiming its actions had been “inaccurately characterized” in recent media reports.(Snip)The Chronicle requested a copy of any contract with Bon Secours that would outline whether the provider, which has long practiced under Catholic healthcare directives, had promised to provide contraception and gender-affirming care. The college refused to furnish one.CORRECTION*

OBERLIN, OHIO — On the night of November, 8, 2016, Donald Trump was elected president and the country was forever changed. But for my family, it was the following night--November 9, 2016--that our world was turned upside down and has never been set right. Late that night, my husband, David, came home from work and told me that there had been a shoplifting incident at our bakery, Gibson’s. We’ve been in business for 137 years, so we’ve had our fair share of shoplifters, including earlier that very week.(Snip)...I’ll be forced to declare bankruptcy and shut the doors of Gibson’s for good.

In President Joe Biden’s 2007 memoir, Promises to Keep: On Life and Politics, he wrote that the late Sen. Mike Mansfield (D-Mont.) gave him the best advice he ever received: “Joe, never attack another man’s motive, because you don’t know his motive.” Judging from Biden’s increasingly belligerent speeches, he has forgotten Mansfield’s eminently wise counsel. This was rendered abundantly clear during his Thursday speech at Independence Hall in Philadelphia.
