If the American Dream is now Kim Kardashian

“The American Dream,” said legendary TV newsman Dan Rather, “is one of the greatest ideas in the history of human achievement.” I concur. But I guess it depends on exactly what you think the American Dream means?(Snip)The American Dream is apparently not about any of that at all. At least not according to Kim Kardashian, a woman devoid of any discernible talent whose entire career was founded on her participation in a lurid sex tape. She believes it’s about flashing her big ass in front of the American flag. I wish I were joking. But sadly, I’m not.(Snip)My first thought when I saw it was to burst

Comments:

But this is the New American dream; a cesspool of degeneracy and debasement, swirling ever downward without cease.

Sadly, were it not for a certain amount of demand for the product being peddled, there would be no supply. That's a rather elementary law of economics, although it is also clear that the supply can often be hyped in today's 24/7 world of media content. I note as well that in a recent survey, something like 30% of the young respondents said they intended to make a career out of something called, "influencing."

The American Dream is having a goal, working toward that goal and achieving it. It has nothing to do with taste, quality or talent. All that's required is drive and ambition. Movies, TV, music, Broadway , the fine arts , culturally crashed a long time ago. They give themselves awards for being woke and edgy. A revival of " 1776 " is coming to Broadway. The cast will feature transgenders, females and non binary people. Yes, it disgusts me too.

I just came back here to make one more observation. The Kardashians may be utterly shameless (along with lacking any other redeeming quality), but they are of a piece with the Anti-Trumpers who constantly parade in front of the cameras at MSNBC and CNN. The Schmidts, Frenches, Kristols, ad nauseam, each of whom is put in front of a camera and, like the trained seals they are, barks out critiques, criticisms and prophecies of doom about President Trump. (For them, the walls are always closing in, yet never closing.) They have no reason to live outside of this function of making the trained seals in the audience clap. Stop and consider that there is a cottage industry of people whose entire livelihoods depend on going on camera, or in print and criticizing Trump. Were it not for his existence, they would fade into, or perhaps never have emerged from total obscurity. Given a choice between watching Kim Kardashian (who, by the way recently resoundingly defeated Hillary Clinton in a televised game of constitutional knowledge!) and these pathetic excuses for human beings, I choose Kardashian. Not enthusiastically you understand, but nevertheless, she is preferable.

And Piers you are an English wanker not because of your opinion of Kim Kardashian which I agree with by the way, but because of your little acerbic comments about President Trump. You see, there are millions who believe that the 2020 election was stolen. We are not a bunch of conspiracy nuts either. There is plenty of evidence out there but the media, this administration and various Republicans do not want anyone looking into it. There will come a day of reckoning though. History has a way of revealing the truth regardless of who tries to bury it. Therefore, turn your jaundiced eye away from President Trump until you are willing to sit down and look at the evidence with an open mind. It’s easy to go along with the crowd but takes a real journalist to dig and find out the truth. It appears that you are willing to go with the flow because to question the narrative would prove detrimental to the elites’ opinion of you. After all, it takes courage to ask the hard questions.

The Miami-Dade School Board in Florida rejected a proposed LGBTQ month for students after a contentious three-hour meeting Wednesday night. The measure would have recognized October as an official period of LGBTQ recognition in the district’s schools and taught older students about two Supreme Court cases related to gay rights. Backers of the proposal argued that the initiative would ease stigmas plaguing the community—with some public speakers likening opposition to Nazi marginalization of specific groups. Opponents asserted that the plan was tantamount to “indoctrination” and would introduce sexualized subject matter to Miami-Dade schools without adequate parental awareness.(Snip)“LGBTQ people suffered a higher rate of suicidal ideation

Homeland Security on Thursday announced it has adopted a new lenient policy on immigrants’ use of welfare, tossing a Trump-era policy that would have been far stricter. Under the new system, known as the “public charge” rule, immigrants will only be penalized for potential welfare use if the government believes they will eventually become “primarily dependent” on government payments. By contrast, living in government housing, using Medicaid for health coverage or accepting food stamps wouldn’t count against an immigrant. Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said the new rule will deliver “fair and humane treatment of legal immigrants.” “Consistent with America’s bedrock values, we will not penalize individuals for choosing to access
