An electric vehicle broke down in West Virginia on Friday, but a group of coal miners were quick to help out.
The EV broke down along Corridor H in Tucker County as the driver was headed to Davis for a weekend getaway.
Photographs shared on Facebook by Tucker County’s Senator Randy Smith shows the car broken down in front of the Mettiki Coal access road on US 48.
"Someone called one of our foreman and told him a car was broke down in the middle of our haul road," Smith said in his post.
Since the plastic underside of the vehicle prevented it from being towed,

Demands that EVs make on the public grid are IMO, highly unfair to others. Using one is close to an anti social act.

California has issued an alert to refrain from charging your ev during the statewide power shortages. So good luck with that.

We go to this area once or twice a year on vacation. Love it there! Hilarious story about how coal miners saved the day for a city slicker in an EV.
I read an article, probably on Lucianne, that many with EVs use the EV in the city and have another car for long distance trips. Not all of us can afford two cars.

" the plastic underside of the vehicle prevented it from being towed,"
Streamlining and weight-reduction can only go so far before the design starts sacrificing mission-critical features. Likely a result of trying to squeeze another mile out of each gallon, to meet unrealistic fuel economy standards established by nincompoops who think it's possible to legislate innovations into being.

When gas prices went up, gas thieves hit cars for the gas. What will they do when the price of electricity skyrockets as it is now? Really hard to steal electricity unless you tap in to a power line. I've seen the burnt corpses of people who tried to do that. Nasty! Very fitting, but nasty!

For the most part, coal miners already help make that car move even when it’s charged.

Haha. Those miners aren’t stupid. They’re all love EV’s because once there enough of them to overload the national elect grid in multiple States their coal will be only solution that can quickly be brought online to supplement the grid capacity. It won’t be so temporary either. Notwithstanding we will then have coal fired fossil fuel charging EV batteries. What a great environmental plan our genius leaders are cooking up heh?

I learned something new…electric cars can’t be towed! So California will put car dealerships & tow trucks businesses out of business ..and lose gas revenue $$$$

About the cold, freezing weather; batteries need to be warm to work. As a Californian studying in Michigan in 1972, every night, I took out the 6-volt battery from my ‘62 beetle, sat it on the dormitory water heater, and put it back before starting my day.
I can’t imagine having to deal with an EV in a Michigan winter, now. Especially if the power goes out.

Those brawny coal miners also have a great sense of humor…giving the tourists a license plate holder that reads “Friend of Coal” is brilliant! HaHaHa!!

So not only are EVs worthless in a power outage, they can't even be towed when the battery craps out!! Far as I'm concerned, they can keep their EVs. I'll stick with the tried and true internal combustion engine!!
