President Joe Biden is set to announce student loan forgiveness of $10,000 — and perhaps more — for lower-income debtors on Wednesday, in a move that is unconstitutional, unfair, and dangerous for the stability of our economy and our democracy.
There is no doubt that some borrowers would benefit from student loan relief — especially young people, low earners, borrowers in the black community. It would help them avoid default, and perhaps allow some to enter the housing market.
Some of these debtors can truly be seen as victims of a system that urges young people to attend college when other paths might be better suited to their talents

I heard how Biden says he has the authority to order this. It has to be with emergency powers due to the virus. The emergency with the virus is over. I hope there is a court challenge to this. This is not fair at all to those who paid off their loans, parents that saved so their children don't need loans, and those that didn't go to college. I am really outraged about this. It is buying votes.

The borrowers have not been paying on these loans for over 2 years but the interest on the loans has been accruing. So, it is a good chance that very little of the 10K that Biden is illegally "forgiving" is not even much of the original loan. To make matters worse, Biden will extend the loan payment suspension in spite of the greatest economy and lowest unemployment ever according to him. Get ready for another round of loan "forgiveness" just prior to the 2024 election.

To all you “Joe 6-packs” that didn’t get to go to college and those of you that worked your way through, remember that you are being handed the debt racked up by a bunch of privilege elites that are more than willing to have Biden and the Democrats stick you with the bill.
Come November be sure to vote them out of office,

Democrats pick and choose who to help; Obama did it to the max. Biden is following in his footsteps. Obama wasted an IMMENSE amount of tax money.

The article says that the debtors are VICTIMS. Like H&LL. If a person buys a car they cannot afford, and cannot pay the bill, guess what happens. The same goes for a property. If a person cannot pay their student loan debt, they should have never taken out the debt. First thing to ask is how many of these people NEVER even finished college, or graduated with a degree that could never lead to a good paying job. That is THEIR fault, not ours, and they should be treated like any other debtor.

I am sick and tired of paying, paying, and paying for the wants and desires of others. If you take out a loan (for anything) it is a legal obligation you have incurred. If you find yourself in a situation where you can’t make the payment on said loan, work with the lender to restructure the loan, move back with your parents, stop spending $7 a day on coffee or get a second job. Why do you expect someone else to bail you out? I’d rather be held up by a highwayman….at least I know he’s a thief.

It doesn't matter if this is fair or not (it isn't). It doesn't matter if this will raise the cost of college (it will). If one person can literally spend billions of dollars on anything they want to with no vote by Congress or with no lawful authority, then why have a Congress, why have a court? We truly are a dictatorship. What's the difference between this and deciding tomorrow that the new Presidential term of office will be 10 years instead of 4? Why is everyone railing about the fairness of this and not railing that it is illegal?

My graduate degree from a state university cost me $30,000 that I paid myself by working and going to night school. When do I get a $10,000 refund?

I'm sure that every waitress, day care worker, cashier, and lawn maintenance workers will be happy to be paying for their customers college loans. My son did not go to college, got a job and supports himself and 4 kids just fine. He does not need to subsidize those who went to college, partied, and now have good jobs but are too stressed by their "debt" and the delayed gratification they must endure while they repay their loans. It seems to me the problem is not that they can't repay their loans. Their problem is they can't get all of the other "keeping up with the Jones" stuff they want NOW. If they can't afford their stuff and their student loans, get a second job. Don't expect others who will not financially benefit from your college education to pay for it. Put on your big boy/girl panties and grow up. College is done.

Which will show up in November. The real Dems (workers, not Progressives) who saved and scrimped to give their children a (higher) education will suddenly realize that they are MAGA Republicans.

Higher education is not a right! If you can’t afford it, either you don’t get it, or you wait until you CAN afford it.

Really? Good thing middle-class people didn't go into debt regardless of color.
