Just in case you needed yet another reason not to take the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) seriously, this story should suffice. The agency released a study on Friday recommending that people wear face masks, among other measures, to avoid catching monkeypox.
The problem? The precautions the CDC suggested do not line up with what the data shows about the spread of the illness.
This week’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) contained research on the spread of the monkeypox virus through contaminated surfaces. The study centered on two patients who lived together and had contracted the virus.

During the hearing to determine if any of the documents used to get a warrant to raid Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home, prosecutors told the judge that the investigation was in its “early stages” and argued to keep all of their documents secret for fear of giving the former president’s lawyers a “roadmap” to their case.
Judge Bruce Reinhart said he was inclined to release some of the documents and gave the government one week to come up with a plan to determine which documents would be redacted, released, or remain sealed. “I’m not prepared to find the affidavit should be fully sealed,” he told attorneys for the media,

I remember back when George W. Bush was president and the mainstream media and Democrats (but I repeat myself) would relentlessly dog him whenever he went on vacation as though presidents are ever really “on vacation” whenever they take one.
Presidents are, of course, almost always accessible in the event they are needed for official business while they’re on vacation, can make speeches, phone calls, send emails, etc., most anything they can do while at the White House.
But there’s a big difference between the supposed leader of the free world taking a break each summer for some downtime and one who is absent from the Oval Office for some “time away”

Florida Man is a whole mood.
We’re all used to the “weird news” coming out of Florida. A woman arrested for shaving her private parts…while driving. A man so desperate for a ride to Hooters he calls 911 for help. A dude who parked his smart car in his kitchen so it wouldn’t blow away in a hurricane (Is this whacky or brilliant? That call is up in the air).
It’s a late night show punchline at this point. As an aside, one of the reasons we always see these stories coming out of Florida is because they don’t enact the same restrictions on media when it comes to arrests and reporting.

Florida International University linebacker Luke Knox has died, the school announced Thursday. He was 22.
The school did not reveal a cause of death. He is the younger brother of Buffalo Bills tight end Dawson Knox.
"We are saddened by the sudden passing of Luke Knox, a member of the FIU Football program," the school said. "We send our thoughts and prayers to Luke's family, friends and teammates during this difficult time.
"Coaches and support staff have been reaching out to our football family and will continue to do so to ensure our student-athletes have the support they need."
FIU football coach Mike MacIntyre also released a statement on Knox’s death.

Yikes! When you look at progressive values like this? HA HA HA HA HA HA
We first heard about Citizens for Sanity when Politico was complaining about this conservative group doing what progressive groups have been doing for years. Apparently, it’s not fair to form a group right before elections to help one side win … if you’re a conservative.
They get especially crabby when the group is hilariously effective.
Like Citizens for Sanity.

Leftists seem pleased that no lawyers will represent Trump. This is a terrible thing that, as much as anything else, represents the downfall of America under the left’s aegis. The aggressive leftist purge of conservative or just brave attorneys is destroying one of America’s greatest institutions: Every person’s right to have an attorney at his side.
In 1770, Redcoats fired on a crowd that had surrounded them, taunting them and pelting them with dangerous projectiles. Five colonists died. The British soldiers claimed self-defense, but the patriots in Boston called it murder. We remember it as the Boston Massacre.
What too few Americans know is that the soldiers,

Two of the stars of the new Amazon Prime prequel of famed author J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings saga claim that “artistic license” will “reinvigorate” the show with its woke casting of racial minorities.
The Rings of Power co-stars Benjamin Walker and Ismael Cruz Córdova recently told reporters that the The Lord of the Rings prequel is “reinvigorating” Tolkien’s beloved epic.
“We took a reinvestment in the source material,” said actor Benjamin Walker who stars as the elf king, High King Gil-galad. “And that means that we went to his writing and allowed that to inspire whole new avenues for the show.”

In the latest example of historical revisionism being used to erase women by the woke LGBTQ+ movement, a scholar has claimed that Queen Elizabeth I of England was “non-binary”.
Along with the announcement from Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre that they have cast St Joan of Arc as a “gender-neutral” character in an upcoming play, Dr Kit Heyam penned a blog post for the theatre’s website earlier this month defending why “it was necessary” to use modern gender theory when looking at the past.
Dr Heyam, who describes himself as a “trans awareness trainer” with (they/them or he/him) pronouns, said St Joan was not the only historical example of LGBTQ+ figures,

It’s abundantly clear that former Vice President Mike Pence is going to run for president in 2024. He’s been putting in the leg work lately, with a scheduled trip to New Hampshire coming up. He’s also positioned himself as a Trump foil in the mid-term GOP primaries, taking a contrary position to the former president in several states, most recently in Arizona.
For my part, I think Pence’s pursuit is delusional. There is exactly one person in the GOP who would be palatable to Trump voters if Trump himself weren’t the nominee, and his name is Ron DeSantis.

In another sad loss due to the pandemic, the 9/11 Tribute Museum in New York City will close its doors Wednesday after a sharp drop in visitors made financial survival impossible.
To be clear, this is a separate gallery from the official 9/11 Museum that is on the site of the former Twin Towers:
To put it simply, the 9/11 Museum located on the memorial site is the “official” museum. The 9/11 Tribute Museum is run by the September 11 Families Association and focuses more on the personal experiences of those impacted by the attacks.
Nevertheless, it’s an important experience and its loss will be heavily felt.

Fire department officials are raising awareness of the dangers of electric vehicle battery fires, calling on regulators to increase electric vehicle safety standards for emergency responders. One fire department chief called electric cars “trick birthday candles” due to their tendency to reignite even after the fire has been put out.
The Regulatory Review reports on the dangers of electric vehicle battery fires, which behave very differently from traditional car fires. One fire department chief said that electric vehicles that catch on fire are “trick birthday candles,” due to their tendency to reignite even after the fire seems to be out.
