We have covered exhaustively the Gibson’s Bakery v. Oberlin College case, from the moment of the shoplifting and protests through the trial verdicts and now on appeal. The most recent activity was that after the Gibsons won in 9th District Court of Appeals, they sought to collect on a $36 million bond posted by Zurich American Insurance under contract with Oberlin College, to secure the judgment.(Snip)This is a serious situation,...the bakery is on the verge of going out of business.

They need better lawyers. This is a court ordered award. How can this school just ignore it?

Every weekend, conservatives from a reasonable (100-150 miles) driving range should be taking a trip to Oberlin to patronize Gibson's Bakery. Heck, I'll contribute to a fund for the kids from Hillsdale College to take a monthly trip down to Gibsons.

Some entrepreneur (Goldbelly?) should work with Gibson's to develop a mail order business for their baked goods. How many conservatives nationwide would place orders? I know I would.

This delay is disgusting. It is true, that "justice delayed is justice denied."
Political bias, partisan, has become the worst sort of bias, and most widespread. It is like this in all totalitarian countries. We are on a dangerous road, headed pell-mell to the precipice.

the judges on this court must be the most cold hearted flunkies or, the most bought, ever to wear the robe of justice, whatever happened to the thing about when you win, YOU call the shots? thee must be some full all expenses paid attendance deals in this for these judges grand children or children, whichever the case might be, having a diploma from Oberlin is a pretty prestigious addition to anyone's life, regardless if the school is a bunch of thieves

Only in America can you do nothing wrong, win a lawsuit and still get screwed. All because a couple of black boys wanted a few bottles of wine.

In the end Gibson’s will likely end up paying Oberlin. They’ll be lucky to avoid jail time.

#9~ “Why does IT still have s say?!!!” / Perhaps that answer may be found in an article written by Professor William A. Jacobson.

OBERLIN COLLEGE HIRES HIGH-POWERED D.C. LAWYERS TO APPEAL GIBSON’S BAKERY VERDICT
Posted by William A. Jacobson - October 8, 2019
Snippets:
“Oberlin College just announced in an email blast that it not only is appealing the Gibson’s Bakery verdict, it has hired 1st Amendment litigators at the D.C. Office of a large national law firm to lead the appeal.
“The email blast announcing the appeal was sent by Chris Canavan, Chair of the Oberlin College Board of Trustees. For most of the past decade Canavan also was Director, Global Policy Development, at Soros Fund Management, until leaving that position last month.”
Professor Jacobson’s summation of Chris Canavan’s October 2019 e-mail to the Oberlin Community: “Board of Trustees Chair: ‘Left standing, the verdict could … set a troubling precedent for those institutions, like Oberlin, that are committed to respecting free speech’”
~~~
Oberlin College retained the expertise of a large Washington, D. C. national law firm and the expertise of a former Soros Fund Management Director of Global Policy Development to oversee the college’s Gibson Bakery litigation.
