The name sounds Armenian. Armenia was a part of the Soviet Union. Was he a recent immigrant?

Firing squad is for in the field. Hanging was used for full trial. Now all federal death crimes are the chair.

He was a helidopter pilot some years ago but ended up working for defense contractos. Then this Chinese “ recruiter” found him. Shades of Swalwell!
Here is the very detailed press release from the US Attorney in San Diego. Details exactly what he did and when.

Everything seems to indicate that he was born here. Don’t go crazy over his name. Armenians flooded into America during the Turkish genocide. This was in the World War I era, so many have been here for over a hundred years. Many settled in the rich, fertile parts of California because they reminded them of home. Generally good people, good citizens..

BTW, Armenia did not become part of the Soviet Union until the 1920s. Thee was no Soviet Union (USSR) before 1922.

Funny but when I read this article, instead of the actual name of the traitor, I kept seeing the the name "Eddie Slovik."

I agree with my fellow posters RE punishment. Unless we AT LEAST dole out life sentences (w/o poss parole) to these people, we'll only see an increase in this activity!

Drawn, hung and quartered is just fine for this rebrobait. BTW, the defense contractors he worked for, they should also be drawn, hung and quartered, as they didn't do their job, as well.

Re #15 that was just one charge. There’s more:
Moinian faces up to five years and a $250,000 fine for the false statements count. He faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 for acting as an agent for the Chinese regime. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 29.
Re his military service and retirement work:
Moinian served in the U.S. Army from 1977 through 2000. After retiring, he worked for various cleared defense contractors in the United States and the Department of Defense. A “cleared” status indicates that “a contractor is permitted to work on projects that involve classified information,” according to the press release.
According to his plea agreement, while Moinian worked as a defense contractor on various aviation projects used by the U.S. military and intelligence agencies, he was first contacted in 2017 by a Chinese national who claimed to be a recruiter for an online employment service. The individual offered Moinian the opportunity to consult for China’s aviation industry.

I have many Armenian friends, many in Armenia, and here in the USA. I just wondered if he was a recent immigrant. Some immigrants don't have strong ties, but many do develop strong ties.

He’s a spy. For once, save the taxpayers some money … put him up against a wall, give him a cigarette and then shoot him. Why are we spending taxpayers money to give a spy three hots and a cot for 15 years??

Sounds like the all American boy in this era. Clinton and Biden are known to have done about the same thing, just at a different level and of course they are Democrats. In the end, especially if this person fits within one or more categories of the Democrats identity politics mantra, Biden or Pelosi may give him a gold medal, as in this era where it is certain now that the inmates have taken over the DC UniParty asylum, anything can happen there.

Our various Patriotic Agencies are far too busy trying to frame our previous president and planning domestic unrest events to bother much with military secrets being sold to their spiritual sister nation.
