NEW YORK -- In response to the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, the 1973 ruling that enshrined to the right to abortion in the United States, Mayor Eric Adams spoke about how abortion prevented his life from being derailed when he and his girlfriend accidentally got pregnant when he was 15 years old. During a press conference in front of City Hall on Friday, the mayor described his experience, called for Democrats to expand the Supreme Court and pledged New York City would provide aboritons for those who don’t have access traveling from out of state.

Comments:

I guess getting a girl pregnant a age 15, then aborting it, is a badge of honor in NY City.

It's bewildering how infrequently birth control is mentioned in the news. Watching those shrieking Ultra-Karens yesterday in front of the Supreme Court, you'd think there's no such thing as birth control. Brings to mind the Georgetown U. student of years ago crying about the difficulties of acquiring birth control pills, until it was quickly disclosed they were available within a few blocks of the campus (M. Street, NW) at the cost of $9.00 for a month's supply.

Abortion kills a living human being, and is thus wrong. People on both sides of this issue seem not to realize that all of the emotional stories that tear at heart strings do nothing to change that fact. Abortion is murder.

The entertainment industry has gradually, since the late 1960's, shown sex as something couples engage in the moment they meet and feel a powerful attraction to one another. Heck, now they have sex and then go out to dinner. Most of us watch these programs and don't protest or boycott them so we contribute to the idea that sexual gratification is our due regardless of the consequences. Is the word "chastity" ever heard anymore? Do our young even know what it means?

Adams’ girlfriend made the decision to have an abortion after he was arrested at 15. “She said ‘Eric, you’re arrested, you’re not going to school, what future is this baby going to have,’” Adams recalled. “She made the decision that was smart for both of us, she made the right call because she was empowered, she was in control.”

#39, I rad your comment and it popped into my head..... I remember, years ago, reading a news article.... Back when the HornDog was governor in Arkansas, the woman he selected as (either 'education' or 'health' department head) contracted for the agency she ran to buy condoms for free distribution to the students in the high schools statewide. I do not recall the brand or supplier's name being mentioned, but apparently some tests were conducted on a sample of the condoms supplied, and the test results showed that a large percentage of the ones tested were defective....leaked. The woman (HornDog's appointee) then HID the results and continued the distribution of the defective condoms to the high school students throughout the state. That was the end of the story. No mention of the number of unwanted pregnancies that resulted.
