Barack Obama Blasted for Not Codifying
Roe v. Wade: 'Dem Failure'

Social media users have criticized former President Barack Obama for not passing legislation to codify abortion rights into federal following the U.S. Supreme Court's decision to overturn two landmark abortion rulings. Obama, a Democrat who served as president from 2009 to 2017, took to Twitter on Friday in response to the Court's decision to overturn 1973's Roe v. Wade and 1992's Planned Parenthood v. Casey, which had found a woman's right to abortion was constitutionally protected. (Snip) "The Dems refused to Codify Roe even when they had the power to," wrote screenwriter Thomas Cunningham. Comments:

I thought the Anointed One was perfect in every way? Obama didn't try to 'codify' Roe Vs. Wade because it would be an unpopular decision. At the time there were still pro- life Democrats. And besides, Dems like using abortion as a battering ram political issue. They never want the issue to go away.

They never do anything they say is important. All they ever do is shovel money out the door to their accomplices. Even obumbum care was shoveling government paid-for insurance premiums to the likes of United Healthcare- whose stock is up some 2000% since it was enacted. With life expectancy down. The current case was related to MS having a 90 day limit on abortion- “too short!!” They shriek and filed the case to challenge the MS law, which was a perfectly reasonable limitation. So Roe’s overturned. And don’t doubt dimokkkrap leadership is thrilled about it being overturned. When the mob is in a frenzy the leaders don’t have to have a plan they just have to shriek incitement. And fundraising will go through the roof.

So what? Codifying Roe still wouldn't have made it constitutional. The whole point of the Dobbs ruling yesterday was that a right to an abortion has never existed in the US Constitution.

The problem is a federal statute would be unconstitutional, as the regulation of abortion (like professional licensing, vehicle codes, zoning, local law enforcement, educational curriculum, etc.) are not enumerated powers of the national government. Under the 10th Amendment, all powers not enumerated are left to the states and people. Congress simply has no authority to legalize abortion. End of issue.

The whole reason that they wanted the courts to force this issue is that, like homosexual marriage and other unpopular evils, they CANNOT GET THE VOTES to have these laws passed in a huge number of states, and they also can't get the votes in the Congress. So....after all their screetching and hysteria about "losing our democracy" (which we never had) they are HORRIFIED when issues are left up to the democratic voting processes of our Republic. They give a lot of verbal support for "democracy", but in reality, when they cannot win in the legislatures or in Congress, they want an activist court to INVENT new "law" to force things on us that they cannot get by fair votes in the national or state legislatures. Totalitarians giving their whiny lip service to "democracy" when all they want is CONTROL.

#1 has a point, if they simply didn't determine that 15 weeks wasn't enough, and didn't file that lawsuit, it likely would not have been overturned. But, even Alan Durshowitz mentioned he thought Roe would eventually be overturned, just didn't think they needed to do it on this particular case, but maybe another in a year or two. And, why weren't states like Michigan who had laws still effective since 1973 changing them months, or years, ago? Maybe they knew it would be unpopular. Do you really think most of the activists protesting really care about the people living in Oklahoma? Plus, most live in CA, NY, IL, NJ, NY, MA, OR, WA where it's still legal to have an abortion. I predict many other states will enact some moderate version, must closer to the original Roe limits, or those in Europe which are 12-14 weeks.

They never could get the votes to pass this. This is exactly why they pushed it into the twisted leftist courts, to be able to get what they cannot obtain via their "cherished" (they say) democratic process. The do NOT value a fair vote in a legislature or Congress, because they cannot win. So they move to by pass the legislative process via activist courts. This is undoing the crooked work of activist judges who invented a "right" from NOTHING.

How disingenuous BO is. When he was president there was no reason to codify it. Progressives had already won and the SCOTUS was safely in Progressive control. No alternative law was going to be passed or get through the SCOTUS. Also, the REASON it was pushed through the SCOTUS was because the dems COULDN'T muster the votes to codify it in the first place. Further, the court didn't reject Roe because the COURT didn't have the power to pass laws on abortion. The SCOTUS states that the Constitution states that the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT does not have such a right. Thus, if Congress codified abortion rights, the SCOTUS would strike such law down as unconstitutional. That right, as clearly stated in the ruling, belongs to the states. Liberals, of course, consider the federal government all powerful. They must to impose their agenda on us. If Progressives had to go State to State to accomplish their ends, they would fail. largely because progressive states have BIG problems caused by their choices and are less successful than Conservative states. When the action is taken at a federal level, there are no winners and losers to compare. We are all losers in misery and progressives declare victory in getting what they wanted and brush aside the painful outcomes and failure to actually accomplish what they claimed they wanted. This is the terror awaiting progressives. The Country was doing well under Trump. It is a disaster under Brandon. If we get a Conservative in 2024, we will do well again. The blatant evidence that progressives = disastrous failure will not be possible to ignore for any with half a brain.

The United States—long a beacon to reproductive rights activists in Latin America—will now start to resemble those countries without Roe’s guarantee of a right to legally access abortion, say campaigners. For activists in places such as El Salvador, where abortion is entirely banned, and Venezuela, where there exists on the statute an exception to save the life of a woman though in practice is equally criminal, the decades-long success of campaigners in the US was often an inspiration. For women in Argentina, where “Green Wave” activists succeeded in their own landmark victory to secure legal abortion in late 2020, there was support from counterparts in the US
