An Australian woman has revealed how her long-term boyfriend blocked her on social media and shacked up with another woman while she was in a coma after a devastating accident. Perth native Brie Duval, 25, was living in Canada(Snip)“This was in the peak of COVID, so in Australia you weren’t allowed to leave or enter the country,” she told the Mirror. “My mum and dad went to the government and asked for special permission to say goodbye to me as things were bad at that point. They refused them, they would not give them a chance and they would not give them a reason, they just flat out said no,”

Comments:

Headline focuses on boyfriend ghosting her but the far bigger villain in this story is the Australian government.

The authoritarian behavior of the Australian (and Canadian) governments is why the Bill of Rights calls for "[a] well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State." The boyfriend might fall under 2A purview also.

What a godsend. Much better to find out your boyfriend is a loser before--not after--you've married him.

Mike Krzyzewski isn’t running for political office, but he wishes the people who hold positions of power would act differently. The retired Duke basketball coach, speaking on the latest SiriusXM radio episode at Cameron Indoor Stadium’s Champions Club, got political, calling out both parties for not serving those in need amid the rising gun violence in America. (Snip) He supported Warriors coach Steve Kerr speaking out on the subject after the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, and went at politicians for not working together to address the problem.

A 75-year-old man known affectionately to Chicagoans as the “Walking Man,” was in critical condition early Wednesday after someone doused him in flammable liquid and lit him on fire as he lay on the ground overnight on Lower Wacker Drive, according to Chicago police. Joseph Kromelis, who once told the Tribune he “roams as a way of life,” had been resting when a man he didn’t know came up to him in the 400 block of North Lower Wabash Avenue about 2:50 a.m., police said. The stranger “then proceeded to ignite the victim before fleeing the scene,”(Snip) Kromelis once joked: “I’m like the Kardashians — I’m famous for doing nothing.”

Months after distressed moms have been vocally upset and concerned about the baby formula shortage, the media is finally starting to ask, how could this happen? The short answer is lockdown supply chains and the shutdown of one of the country’s largest formula plants in Michigan (Snip) Freeman said her clients and industry contacts began noticing an FDA crackdown on European formulas in the last few years, before the lockdowns, but an even greater spike since last August, well before the Abbott recall and plant shutdown that many are pointing to as the source of the shortage.(Snip)In some ways, the FDA seems more concerned about labeling than the nutrients themselves.

At least 14 people were shot, two of them fatally, on Monday, and 24 people were shot — 6 of them fatally — over the past weekend.

It wasn’t that long ago when the left’s narrative on ‘gay rights’ was simple, straightforward, and easy to support: Let’s all be tolerant of one another, live and let live, and don’t discriminate. Tolerance is, after all, one of the fundamental tenets of the philosophy which drove America’s founding. But as the saying goes, “give someone an inch and they’ll take a mile,” which is the situation in which we find ourselves today. The message of ‘tolerance’ eventually morphed into ‘acceptance.’ At some point late in the Obama Administration, our culture decided that it was inadequate to merely tolerate the shenanigans of the LGBTQ community, we needed to welcome them.

Speculation is rife concerning the possible presidential candidates representing the two major parties as the nation approaches the 2024 elections. Everyone has an opinion, and the pundits are competing in the expertise sweepstakes. What can we say with some degree of plausibility? The Democrat roster is, by all accounts, dramatically uninspiring. Biden, who speaks in tongues, is plainly beyond redeeming; the question is whether he will manage to survive the year, let alone stumble, lollop, and whiffle to the end of his first term. Kamala Harris belongs in vaudeville or farce, given her talent for provoking laughter. Both will have to be retired in favor of an electable candidate. But who?

WASHINGTON (AP) — Nearly a year since its inception, the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol will go public with its findings starting this week as lawmakers hope to show the American public how democracy came to the brink of disaster. The series of hearings that will take place over the next several weeks begin with a prime-time session Thursday night in which the nine-member panel plans to give an overview of its 11-month investigation. More than 1,000 people have been interviewed by the panel, and only snippets of that testimony have been revealed to the public, mostly through court filings.

As the party in the White House, the historical odds are not in the favor of Democrats, not to mention inflation and gas prices have dragged on Democrats' poll numbers. Republicans need a net gain of just five seats to take back the majority, and the Cook Report rates 26 Democratic-held seats as toss-up or leaning Republican.

Precisely nobody will believe this: "What we're trying to say, what I'm trying to say to you, is that the economy is in a better place than it has been historically."
