The French and German presidents urged Putin to return 2,500 prisoners of war Azov Battalion soldiers defended Mariupol steelworks for weeks despite barrage Now they're reportedly being tortured with pliers and electric shocks by captors It came as Ukrainian forces faced artillery in east and Odesa blockade drags on

Comments:

They surrendered reliant on Russian promises. So now they are being tortured. They are in my prayers all the time. For those who pray for death to come, may it come, and may their torturers recall, that when they call for death to come to them in hell, it will not.

sorta like the 1/6 prisoners here ? we should worry more the further away the bad guys are ? So much easier to decry and declare outrage when the prisoners are far far away ..not in your zip code

who/what to believe? I have seen video of captured Russians deliberately shot in the knees and with teeth bashed in by the Azov Battalion. Payback is a...! Both sides lie. No, I do not support Putin but Zelensky will do anything to increase our involvement. At what cost to people, property and treasure.? This conflict was avoidable and the West shares blame. For 2 decades we have been told Putin was a paranoid ex KGB nut, but NATO kept poking the bear. We watched him build up invasion forces for weeks and our Commander in chief and NATO did nothing. It is as if someone wanted / needed this war. Is anyone even trying to negotiate z settlement?

Instead of fighting, they're torturing prisoners. Sure they are. Let's make sure another $40 billion or so comes in from the USA.

I question the sanity or the intentions of someone who continuously posts these DM stories about the situation in the Ukraine. They are sketchy, at best, to flat out lies. If you want to know what’s happening over there, please do not rely on the DM. Sundance over at The Conservative Treehouse does excellent work, and the majority of the commenting posters are well-informed critical thinkers. The battle cry of The Resistance is, “Do your own research.” Please do. Knowledge is power, and we need all the help we can get.

Glad to see other posters agree with me that this sounds like more lies from the supporters of the nazis in Ukraine. Putin is no angel, but Zelinsky who is Soro's puppet is not one bit better.

Russia has a long history of mistreating prisoners. I had a business meeting in the town of Krasnoturynsk in Siberia, home of the Bogoslovsky Aluminum plant which was moved there suddenly after the Germans attacked in WW2, and used to make huge numbers of aircraft for the war effort. The plant still operates today, it's huge. Much of the work at the plant during WW2 and afterwards was done by almost 1000 German prisoners. None were ever let return to Germany after the war, kept in effective slavery until they died. Some apparently married into the local people, I saw a LOT of bright blond haired men and women in the city when I was there in a dozen years ago. There is a memorial to these prisoners, with their names, which was put in place in the 90s by a German POW organization, on the shore of the cooling lake for the huge aluminum plant, which dominates the town location. Russians have always been brutal and merciless. especially to enemies. This report fits in with their cultural norms.

Russian forces have shelled and attempted to storm the Azovstal steelworks, the last holdout of Ukrainian troops defending the southern port city of Mariupol, as a first convoy of refugees from the plant reached the city of Zaporizhzhia. Video footage showed thick smoke in the sky above the site where officials said up to 200 civilians, including children, remained trapped in a network of underground bunkers and tunnels with up to 2,000 Ukrainian soldiers. The Red Cross (ICRC) said more than 100 civilians had managed to escape in a convoy of buses and ambulances accompanied by ICRC and UN teams, joined by families and individuals in private vehicles.

The bodies are strewn across the quiet tree-lined street in the town of Bucha as far as the eye can see. All 20 are in civilian clothing, and all have their different poses in death. Some lie with sightless eyes staring at Ukraine's overcast sky, some lie face down on the tarmac. Three of them are tangled up in bicycles after taking their final ride, while others, with waxy skin, have fallen next to bullet-ridden and crushed cars. One has his hands tied behind his back with a white cloth, and his Ukrainian passport left open beside his corpse, said AFP journalists who accessed the town. CORRECTION*

Washington—A federal jury on Tuesday found former Hillary Clinton campaign lawyer Michael Sussmann not guilty of lying to the FBI — finding special counsel John Durham did not prove his case beyond a reasonable doubt. The verdict by a jury in heavily Democratic-leaning DC, came midway through the second day of deliberations following a two-week trial on a single count of making false statements to a federal agent. Durham’s prosecution team unsuccessfully sought to prove that Sussmann deliberately lied to then-FBI general counsel James Baker by claiming not to be acting on behalf of the Clinton campaign and an internet executive when the two met in 2016.

George Will’s recent column reviewing the first 500 days of the Biden presidency includes praise for the president’s “deft diplomacy” and “stunning achievement” in the administration’s response to Ukraine. According to Will, Biden’s diplomacy is substantially responsible for nudging Germany to play a larger geopolitical role and persuading Finland to join NATO, thus extending the alliance’s reach to more than 800 miles of Russia’s border. Biden, he writes, has revised the concept of the West, but Will writes that Biden’s achievement will not earn him political dividends because “what Americans usually want in foreign policy is as little as possible.”
