Vice President Kamala Harris will speak at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy’s graduation ceremony on May 18, the academy announced.
“We are honored to host the vice president and look forward to having her present the Coast Guard’s newest leaders with their commissions,” Rear Adm. Bill Kelly, academy superintendent, said in a statement Friday. “This will also be a memorable moment for our graduates before they head out across the country and around the globe to take their places in the fleet.” Vice presidents traditionally address the graduating class at one of the service academies on a rotating basis. Ms. Harris last year delivered the keynote speech at the Naval Academy

Her most profound advice: when you find you find yourself in the water, try to breathe air. It has worked for me every time, and I have often been under water.
Should I repeat that?

I actually found a draft of her speech:
“The ocean is big. Deep too. It’s pretty. But I wouldn’t want have to stay there. It’s so big and you can see it with your own eyes!! You can!! And it’s important. It makes pretty sounds unless you’re trying to sleep. But you can’t hear it from the airplane so it doesn’t keep you awake. Boats can float on it.”

So, The Coast Guard is a part the United States military. It exists to guard the coast. The Navy is a bigger part of the military. The Navy decided they couldn't defend the coast which is big. So, they decided to let the Coast Guard watch the coast. So basically, the Navy couldn't do its job without help, which is okay I guess but basically the more seamen the better!

Harris: Hellos to all the little people. This is my first trip to London Connecticut. I just had a lobster roll for lunch. It was soo good. It's too bad that you little people will not be able to afford lobster. The fine, and I mean VERY fine, senator just made the little restaurant owner give me 5 pounds of lobster for free. I'm going to share it with my BFF Michelle.
Don't you wish that you could be me?

As an alumni of Canoe U., I will be watching the pod cast. Pres. Biden fell flat last year. The cadet's silence was funnier than his jokes. VP Harris should stick with the Coast Guard prepared speech, keep it short, and don't Ad lib. I dislike Pres Obama, but I will praise him for his speech at CGA. What is not aired nationally is how the President/VP act during the parade of cadets getting their diplomas and commissions. Pres Trump had a great time. Recommend the podcast. Entire ceremony maintains the fine traditions of the Coast Guard.

She learned about the Coast Guard from Willy Brown. For years he would call her and ask "Is the coast clear?"

A leaked draft of her speech, "There are big boats and little boat that ride on rising waves you are all in this together. You are free to command a ship, congratulations".

The naysayers will cluck, but Vice President Kamala Harris knows a thing or two about seamen and about service on a rotating basis.
