Urbana - Candidates for promotion and tenure at the University of Illinois will have to submit a one-page summary of their on-the-job contributions to diversity, equity and inclusion come fall 2025. Officials believe the UI to be one of the first — if not the first — “research 1” university to explicitly implement a diversity, equity and inclusion requirement into the formal faculty promotion process. (Snip) The justification for the statement is to incentivize faculty as early as possible to do societally impactful work, said Bill Bernhard, executive vice provost for academic affairs.

Bernhard's title should be Chief Word Salad Spinner.

As a major contributor to the U of I in the past, I choose to 'cancel' the U of I from my will and leave them nothing as a 'reward' for their stupidity.

I’’m a life member of the U of I alumni association. Over the years, I’ve had to send them a couple of profane letters to advise them to quit asking me for money. I told them that ever since I graduated, I’d been working hard to raise a family and pay taxes to subsidize the Lifestyles of The Morally Anointed and Blithely Irresponsible and had nothing left over for them, since they seemed to sympathize with those groups. Just last week, I got a mailing from them advising me that I could contribute money to the University direct from my 401K - and it would be tax-free! They never get the message. Now, I’m going to have to write another letter telling them to take my name off the membership rolls of the Alumni Association. I’m ashamed to tell anyone that I graduated from there.

It would be interesting to ask the UI for their definition of equity, a word that is thrown around these days willy nilly by political wannabees. To me, equity means how much value one has accrued in the purchase of a home thatone can then use to leveragd one's financial situation. I could be wrong as so many words have lost their original meaning and end up meaning nothing at all. May be the supposedly learned could stick to the word most people understand 'equality'

I see the reason so many colleges require diversity horses#$t is that a huge number of negroes attending those colleges are not remotely capable of doing the work. Ergo they must be coddled.

So, it means they need to discriminate against some so they can feel better about themselves. Will they apply the same to college scholarships to their sports teams? Wonder how quickly lawsuits will be filed to ensure diversity and inclusion also means people with diverse opinions which would require massive hiring of people with Moderate to Conservative political perspectives. After all, it's not a very equitable learning environment when you have a group-think faculty. Trust me, I attended many university events with my wife, before she retired, where she told me to bite my tongue. The faculty feel as though everyone they know thinks like them, so they can spew whatever hate-filled comments they want. Much of it not even appropriate in any business environment or event.

However this era of angry polarization, crime and violence ends, it will be left to historians to decipher how America got so far off track. Instead of building on our unprecedented prosperity and role as the world’s ultimate superpower, we declared war — cultural, political and social — on each other. Even our nation’s Founders are not spared. (Snip) Two recent developments illustrate how that campaign remains a radioactive hot spot. With both developments centering on Hillary Clinton, they underscore her role and the depths of her venality. Just when you think you’ve seen the worst of her, proof emerges that she was even more duplicitous than we knew.

As part of its ongoing LGBTQ+ Equity study month this April, an Illinois school district has suggested that Pre-K students “identify the colors in the rainbow flag” and “participate in making” their own “rainbow and/or trans pride flag,” according to curriculum materials reviewed by The Daily Wire. District 65, located in Evanston, Illinois, has dedicated a significant portion of the academic year to “equity weeks.” (Snip)During BLM month in February, the district presented slides on being a “Transgender ally” that told special needs kids they may choose to be “a boy or girl or both or neither, or something else”

A strike pitting WTTW-Channel 11 against members of the electricians union took a bitter turn Tuesday, with the public television station serving notice that it is cutting off the workers’ health insurance. The members of Local 1220 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers said they received notice from WTTW saying their employer-subsidized insurance will end as of Friday, April 1. No talks have taken place since the strike began March 16. The workers can continue health coverage by enrolling in the federal COBRA program, which carries high premiums because there is no employer subsidy. Brett Lyons, business representative for Local 1220, said the union is exploring ways to help the workers

A new documentary examining moral campaigner Mary Whitehouse has divided opinion after revealing how she predicted the corrosive impact of online pornography. Banned! The Mary Whitehouse Story, which aired last night on BBC, detailed how the former Midlands housewife raged against an increasingly permissive society in the 1960s and 70s. Whitehouse was a Christian fundamentalist who harbored various bigoted views, campaigning against social liberalism, feminism and the gay liberation movement throughout her career. However viewers were surprised at how modern the campaigner's views were when it came to pornography - considering erotic material 'a male commodity, made by men' to 'exploit' women.

Amid the national debate over whether members of Congress should be able to trade stock, the governor of Illinois is demonstrating how prevalent conflicts of interest are for elected officials who own securities. In 2020, Gov. JB Pritzker’s trust bought stock in the health insurance company Centene Corp. That same year, Illinois gave $2.6 billion worth of Medicaid contracts to Centene Corp.(Snip)While not illegal, the association’s experts say Pritzker could have instructed his trust managers not to invest in state contractors to eliminate the potential for a conflict of interest. He came, he saw, he confused.
