Amid the national debate over whether members of Congress should be able to trade stock, the governor of Illinois is demonstrating how prevalent conflicts of interest are for elected officials who own securities. In 2020, Gov. JB Pritzker’s trust bought stock in the health insurance company Centene Corp. That same year, Illinois gave $2.6 billion worth of Medicaid contracts to Centene Corp.(Snip)While not illegal, the association’s experts say Pritzker could have instructed his trust managers not to invest in state contractors to eliminate the potential for a conflict of interest. Pritzker and his trust managers refuse to disclose how much the investments are worth nor when the investments were made.

I have family in Illinois. They say, "Illinois, where our ex-governors make our license plates." Another corrupt Illinois governor, following the standard pattern.

I was visiting Chicago listening to the radio in the rent car several years ago. The station reported that a University of Chicago report found Chicago to be the most corrupt city in the US. But really, why else would a corruptocrat aspire to higher office other than for graft? If you can’t steal, what’s the point? Says the bill and hillary clitton school of ethics.

Reading the article, one might get the idea that elected officials in Illinois have no political party affiliation. Or, is it generally accepted that all elected persons in that state are democrats--as well as are corrupt.

Why not? Congressmen and Senators do it. Biden did it through Hunter. Why shouldn’t they all get the benefits that no one else in the world gets? I mean, they do rule us. They are our betters. They deserve it for their hard work.

If it is truly a 'blind' trust then the Governor has no freedom to dictate where the money is invested. Of course the trust fund managers may well have had directives established before the trust was established or blinded. Such directives are legal and as long as communications between the governor and the trust managers are now cut off it is nobody's business where the funds are invested. Nor does 'suggest' any impropriety if the trust moneys are invested in businesses which receive public Illinois moneys.

Naturally, they don't mention the culprit is a democrat. If he were a Republican, it would be mentioned in every sentence.

Urbana - Candidates for promotion and tenure at the University of Illinois will have to submit a one-page summary of their on-the-job contributions to diversity, equity and inclusion come fall 2025. Officials believe the UI to be one of the first — if not the first — “research 1” university to explicitly implement a diversity, equity and inclusion requirement into the formal faculty promotion process. (Snip) The justification for the statement is to incentivize faculty as early as possible to do societally impactful work, said Bill Bernhard, executive vice provost for academic affairs.

However this era of angry polarization, crime and violence ends, it will be left to historians to decipher how America got so far off track. Instead of building on our unprecedented prosperity and role as the world’s ultimate superpower, we declared war — cultural, political and social — on each other. Even our nation’s Founders are not spared. (Snip) Two recent developments illustrate how that campaign remains a radioactive hot spot. With both developments centering on Hillary Clinton, they underscore her role and the depths of her venality. Just when you think you’ve seen the worst of her, proof emerges that she was even more duplicitous than we knew.

As part of its ongoing LGBTQ+ Equity study month this April, an Illinois school district has suggested that Pre-K students “identify the colors in the rainbow flag” and “participate in making” their own “rainbow and/or trans pride flag,” according to curriculum materials reviewed by The Daily Wire. District 65, located in Evanston, Illinois, has dedicated a significant portion of the academic year to “equity weeks.” (Snip)During BLM month in February, the district presented slides on being a “Transgender ally” that told special needs kids they may choose to be “a boy or girl or both or neither, or something else”

The kids may be back in school, but they are not all right. Early childhood educators say that post-pandemic preschoolers and kindergarteners are struggling with behavior issues, emotional resilience, motor skill development and language acquisition after spending their formative years wearing masks, distance learning and having limited social interactions. “Students are having extreme difficulty with the structure of the school day: following directions, sitting in their seat for hours, working independently, being quiet and even sharing space with other students,” Vanessa Brancato, 30, who teaches preschool

A strike pitting WTTW-Channel 11 against members of the electricians union took a bitter turn Tuesday, with the public television station serving notice that it is cutting off the workers’ health insurance. The members of Local 1220 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers said they received notice from WTTW saying their employer-subsidized insurance will end as of Friday, April 1. No talks have taken place since the strike began March 16. The workers can continue health coverage by enrolling in the federal COBRA program, which carries high premiums because there is no employer subsidy. Brett Lyons, business representative for Local 1220, said the union is exploring ways to help the workers

A new documentary examining moral campaigner Mary Whitehouse has divided opinion after revealing how she predicted the corrosive impact of online pornography. Banned! The Mary Whitehouse Story, which aired last night on BBC, detailed how the former Midlands housewife raged against an increasingly permissive society in the 1960s and 70s. Whitehouse was a Christian fundamentalist who harbored various bigoted views, campaigning against social liberalism, feminism and the gay liberation movement throughout her career. However viewers were surprised at how modern the campaigner's views were when it came to pornography - considering erotic material 'a male commodity, made by men' to 'exploit' women.

He came, he saw, he confused. Donald Trump held a rally in North Carolina on Saturday night, but it wasn’t the normal theatrics and hilarity that the former president delivers that made the biggest impression. Rather, it was an endorsement that seems to have come out of nowhere, and I’ll go so far as to say it may be his worst ever (yes, worse than Morgan Ortega) — at least as a Republican politician. Honestly, I know some people take umbrage with anyone ever questioning Trump’s decision-making, but this is truly a head-scratching moment. I’m not sure offering endorsements to people based on them being on TV for a long time is the best strategy.
