Ukraine has killed another Russian general in a further “serious blow to the morale” of the invading forces, a government adviser said Wednesday.
Maj. Gen. Oleg Mityaev died Tuesday during the storming of Ukraine’s most devastated city, Mariupol, according to Interior Ministry adviser Anton Gerashchenko — who later posted a photo of the body.
Mityaev would be at least the fourth general killed during the invasion, which Kremlin officials are reportedly calling a complete “clusterf–k.’’ Mityaev, 46, commanded the 150th Motorized Rifle Division and had fought in Syria, Gerashchenko said, saying his body was found with “the shoulder straps of a major general.”

All a sniper has to do is look for uniforms with stars on their shoulders. Or look to see who is being saluted.
Would a Russian general humble themselves and wear a conscripted troop's uniform?
The generals could tell their troops to stop saluting them. Bet some of the troops would continue to do it anyway.
How many generals does Russia have, btw?

An interesting thing about the organization of the Russian military, and most European military, with the probable exception of the Brits. The Russians (and Soviets before them) are very much a top down structure. Frequently the junior officers and the senior enlisted have zero idea of the intent and objectives of a particular operation, and are ordered by the central, upper leaders on each move.
When a local unit leader, be it a colonel, major, captain, or a sergeant, is killed, the people below this leader in the chain of command have both no authority to continue operations on their own initiative, and more critically, frequently have no real knowledge of their part in the overall operational plan, are unaware of the objective. So, kill a senior officer - the folks below him sit down and wait for a new senior officer to show up, or possibly some direct orders from the central command, they literally have no idea what to do next. NO individual initiative, and even if someone wants to do this, they usually have no information to act on.
In our military.---- but this may have changed with the new woke, broke military -- if the general is killed, the senior colonel takes over, and he was fully aware of what the plan and objective was, and was trained and expected to carry on, using knowledge of the plan of action, modified as necessary by the facts in play during the fight, to continue to the objective. If the colonel is killed, the senior major takes over....etc. The unit continues to fight, even if leadership is a casualty. This has, since WW1 made the US military especially effective, and particularly deadly. I suspect that the pussified, armchair generals we now have may have already started to corrupt this tradition, which would greatly reduce our capabilities.

Somewhere, I read that when the USS Cole was attacked, one of the commanding officers went out to see what was going on in the heat of the attack. The commander remarked that an enlisted man nearby quickly tore off any designations of his rank, as required by military conduct when a senior officer is in a battle situation.
Kinda like how the Texian army was reported to have found Santa Anna. The Mexican strongman switched into the clothes of a private to escape. Problem is, when the Texians stripped him, he was still wearing silk undergarments -- obviously not standard issue for Mexican Army enlisted.

The Russian allowing people out but nothing in.
They blew up most of the foreign fighters and the rest are trying to get out but Ukraine not letting them

I doubt the regular Russian soldier knows or really cares that much if a general is killed. They're too worried about themselves to care about a general.

Well, it’s either that or being brought up for war crimes.

FTA: The Ministry of Defense even claimed that “40% of units that invaded during these 3 bloody weeks were destroyed or defeated.
With that success, it would seem the Ukrainians would like to continue the fight...maybe on to Moscow! If one believes this, then one must also admit the Russians are not a first-rate military machine, and the Ukrainians don't need any intervention to vanquish the foe. The Russians can't even execute a war on their own borders. Or, one doesn't buy this and wonders what the truth is.
It's like COVIDS reports and death tolls. I don't buy either side's story.
