Is Vladimir Putin now caught in a Chinese

As bad as Joe Biden and his wretched allies in Europe are, they aren't anywhere near the level of trouble that Vladimir Putin is, as the latter's war on Ukraine drags on with no results. Putin has not only not won his war, he's now in hock to China, as another Chinese puppet-string actor, which is a wretched booby prize to succor. China's help is likely to provide some comfort to Putin's economy in Russia for now, but it leaves Putin in roughly the same position as Nicolas Maduro of Venezuela, who only stays in power due to Russia's patronage. Richard Fernandez, via Twitter, has some observations:

FTA: "Putin threw it all on the table when he opted to invade Ukraine and he's losing his shirt. Russia's economy is ruined when it could have been so good what with all those gas sales." The Russian economy has always been a shambles away from urban centers. Take a ride outside Moscow or St. Petersburg sometime. And some of their cities are no treat, either. The people are well versed in the rule, whether Tsar, Commie or Putin, and that's keep your head down and mouth shut. As other have pointed out, this very likely could have been avoided had NATO not promoted Ukraine membership. Ultimately, it appears to have exposed the Euro-kabuki that is the foundation of NATO. The truth is that NATO and Russia are both military shams. Neither has many teeth in its military mouth, but are used to spur more spending on equipment and military infrastructure. And the big laugh is that China is signing Belt and Road agreements without firing a shot or posting troops. It's "Dollar (Yuan) diplomacy" at its best. But the US can't figure out the business of doing business internationally.

I wholly agree. The longer the fight goes on, the less likely that Russia will prevail in its invasion of Ukraine. But don't underestimate Biden's ability to eff up a sure bet. He will continue to subsidize Putin's war by shutting down oil production in the US and forcing us to buy Russian oil, AND he will reward Putin handsomely for working with Iran on our behalf to restart Obama's lousy Iran Treaty. While I will be happy to see Ukraine avoid annexation by Russia and the deaths of its people, I am disappointed that Biden might get to use the end of the Ukraine War as propaganda of his presidential leadership skills and have the LeftMedia sell it to stupid voters. Truth is, Biden singlehandedly caused Putin to invade, and even goaded him into it. It wasn't enough to show the world how weak Biden is with the Afghanistan pullout fiasco, But Biden had to threaten Putin with useless sanctions even as he approved Nordstrean 2. Biden reneged on the agreement that President Clinton signed with Ukraine and Russia that guaranteed their sovereignty in return for transfer of the USSR's nuclear weapons inside Ukraine to Russia. And, despite numerous warnings from Putin about admitting former USSR states like Poland, Ukraine, and Moldova to NATO, Putin signed an agreement with Ukraine in NOVEMBER 2021 encouraging Ukraine to join NATO. The demented idiot Biden is totally responsible for the war in Ukraine.

Putin had Biden's number, who wouldn't have had, but he didn't have the numbers on the Ukraine President and the people. Banks, airlines, other countries have set tougher sanctions on Putin than Biden has. Joe might think about having Hunter send a few $mil pocket money to Putin to help him get through this.

When the US launched Operation Desert Storm, we all thought it was amazing that we could win in such "lightning fast" speed. It was just so amazing that we could win that war so quickly. Desert Storm took over 40 days. The current Russian invasion of Ukraine is on day 11. Ukraine is larger (almost 1.5 times bigger) than Iraq. Ukraine has a larger population than Iraq had. Ukraine is heavily wooded, not wide-open desert like most of Iraq. Ukraine has a popular elected president, not a hated despot dictator like Iraq had. Ukraine has a much more well-trained and well-armed military than Iraq had. Putin may be evil (Hitler-level evil), but he is not stupid. He never expected Ukraine "to fall in 2 or 3 days". And as evil as Putin is, he has avoided large-scale attacks that would have resulted in mass civilian casualties (or there would be a lot more dead Ukrainians right now). Sure, there are going to be civilian casualties in any war, especially since most countries put lots of civilians around military targets to hopefully make them less-desirable targets in a war. But if Putin decides to go full blitzkrieg on Ukraine, and starts to blow up anything in his way, expect those civilian fatalities to skyrocket. No, I am not pro-Russia on this in any way. While the Russians did have some valid concerns about Ukraine, none of it was enough to justify an invasion. But I am just so sick that all this war has become is a massive outpouring of propaganda on both sides. It's almost impossible to have a clue about what is really happening there.

There are some good coal deposits in Russia close to the Chinese border. China may be interested in them. Especially after Russia has expended its military resources against the Ukrainians.

Body cam footage shows Dallas police asked Texas GOP chairman Allen West's wife Angela to move her car with a 3-month old baby inside during a traffic stop last summer, a request experts say directly undercuts the officers' claims they suspected she was driving drunk. The video, obtained by Just the News under an open records request, also shows officers administered Angela West a breathalyzer and expressed surprise it did not show her above the legal limit, but then omitted the existence of that test from the official police report they filed before all charges were dropped by prosecutors. After reviewing the two hours of footage, former Commissioner of the New York

Joe Biden is in a bind. Like everything else, he's blown it. Energy prices have gone through the roof, with gasoline prices at the pump pushing $6.00 a gallon in San Diego alone. They're expected to get higher, and each tic upward takes Joe down another notch in the polls. Biden has throttled U.S. capacity to produce its own energy by ending to domestic drilling leases on federal lands. He's also scuppered the Keystone XL pipeline from Canada. In place of that domestic and Canadian energy, we now buy Russian oil, some 600,000 barrels a day -- which just happens to finance Vladimir Putin's war on Ukraine.

It's the easiest thing in the world: cut off Russia's oil earnings and watch its war against Ukraine collapse. A U.S. oil embargo on Russia would destroy its cash stream which is financing 30% of its government, including its attack on Ukraine. In a war, at least one you want to win, you cut off supply lines. Grant and Sherman understood this. But General Biden is a little different. He wants to keep Putin getting that money until Bad America reforms to a green energy system to his liking. The White House on Sunday rejected the argument that increasing domestic oil production would help lower gas prices, as the cost of oil moves toward record highs. Crude oil prices rose as high as $130.50 a barrel on Sunday evening. White House press secretary Jen Psaki released a set of talking points on social media, arguing against a focus on boosting oil production in the United States. “It’s a reminder that real energy security comes from reducing our dependence on fossil fuels,” Psaki wrote, noting that Russia’s continued invasion of Ukraine was causing a spike in oil prices. Psaki pushed back against Republicans calling for more domestic oil production.

Within MAGA circles, talk is turning increasingly to impeaching Joe Biden after the midterm elections—assuming, of course, the Republicans retake the House of Representatives (which appears likely). Unfortunately, actual removal would require 60 votes in the Senate. Even under the most favorable scenario, it’s unlikely the GOP will pick up more than four Senate seats.  Nonetheless, with the strong likelihood the Republicans will take control of the House, impeaching Biden looks viable. Why? Well, for the same reason a Democrat-controlled House impeached Donald Trump—twice.  The Democrats used the impeachment process to persuade millions of middle-of-the-road and independent voters that Trump had done something terribly wrong. Of course, the Democrats’ two impeachment efforts were frivolous
