Pssst...it is not a "Temporary Tactical" Reserve to be used on very short term media Blips. "Strategic" requires long term thinking, such as...NOT shutting off US production and making up for it by BUYING oil/gas from Russia and Iran FUNDING their expansions.. NOT shutting down a 99% completed pipeline that allows our Northern "Friendly Neighbor" to get their oil/gas to market, and to our refiners.

The SPR is supposed to be there for an emergency, and we don't have an emergency. They simply need to remove the constraints on the oil and gas industries in the United States. It would have a much more significant impact on prices.

We are about to be at war without energy capacity and against an energy juggernaut. So Diaper Joe plans to waste some fuel reserves to decrease the price of gasoline from $4.25/gal to $4.24/gal. The more he rules the more we understand why Trashcanistan was such a debacle.

Oh no! Biden may have to replace Sec of Defense Austen and his two climate-before-people zealots, John Kerry and Gina McCarthy, when they all resign over Biden abandoning the gravest threat we have ever faced, climate change. For just 3 months after Biden apologized to the world for Trump’s failure to eliminate fossil fuels, Biden is tapping our petroleum reserve so that the vehicles Dems hate the most, SUVs, can continue threatening the future of the earth. Shocking, simply shocking to see that Biden doesn’t believe what he says. Especially when his mad beliefs drive his poll numbers lower and lower.

Democraps have always tried to keep America weak. Getting rid of out strategic oil reserve is something they constantly work on. This time they are using the Ukraine situation to further deplete our strategic reserve to make us weaker in the event of a military attack on us, make living expenses even higher to keep us in our lowly place, and (as another poster says) drive us on to public transportation when possible, or strand us if we don't have it. Everything they they do is to put down working Americans.

Stupid is as stupid does. What doesn't poopy pants understand about the word 'strategic'? Oil was put into the SPR at a much lower cost than what we will need to pay to replace the released reserves that will have little or no effect on the current pump price. Just more bad decisions from the Brandon junta that are a continuation of the 'first day' Executive Orders.

They dort of have too. Oil leases on private property have become competitive - even lucrative at the high prices per barrel. This will ease the supply and drop the price, but, the Democrats want the credit for it.

The SPR are salt domes that have been hollowed out with hot water to make massive storage cavities. When oil is pumped into these cavities it doesn't react with the salt and stays in place until it is pumped out by forcing water into the bottom of these storage cavities - oil floats on water with the water acting as a piston. Every time oil is extract these salt domes are eroded / degraded further and as such have a limited life span based on the number of times their oil is extracted. So not only is what's going on stupid on so may other levels and always done purely for political theater but it also destroys these massive and extremely expensive storage structures that could well be useless when a true emergency arises.

If Justin Trudeau had merely removed trucks from blocking a bridge in protest of vaccine mandates, it would be no big deal. Protesters for various causes routinely get removed from blocking traffic. But that’s not all Justin Trudeau did. He suspended civil liberties in Canada, targeting peaceful protesters and anyone who supports them. Trudeau ordered all financial institutions to freeze the assets of his political opposition without court order and with full immunity from liability, and no financial asset was spared.
